Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
PT 68 first take: 95/101 177. Last test before Monday, and a big confidence boost.
LR -1/-3
LG -1
RC -0
Last two games in LG were difficult/very difficult, but the first two were so easy that I thought I'd missed a rule. LR felt good- the second section felt abnormally difficult and I ended up changing 4 answers (3 correctly and one incorrectly). RC felt very balanced. My last 7 PT's chronologically: 178, 179, 173, 171, 177, 171, 177. I'm a little concerned about the variation but honestly I think the lower scores are a just a result of burnout, which is why I'm conflicted about what to do tomorrow.
The only test I have left is 66. While I'm certainly not going to PT it tomorrow I was planning to slowly do RC 2 and 4, LG 2 and 4, and the first section of LR just to stay fresh. I'd use the remaining half on Monday as a warm up before leaving my house, and wouldn't grade any of it from either day. Does this seem like a good plan?

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
PT 68: -11 171.
LG: -2 First 2 were VERY easy. 3rd game tripped me up. I spent a few minutes looking at it trying to figure out what it was asking. The two targets thing threw me off. Skipped ahead and did the 4th game, which wasn't easy since it required a lot of hypo's, but I eventually got them. Went back and worked on 3rd game, finished as much as I could, didn't finish #13/14 though after they weren't very hard.
RC: -3, missed #25 because I was being lazy, other 2 were 50/50 misses.
LR1: -2, identified one on blind review, but that doesn't really matter at this point. The 2nd to last page was a bitch for me. Struggled with all 4 of them, only ended up missing the last one.
LR2: -4, which is higher than I usually get on 1 section. Didn't finish #24 which was easy-ish, missed #22 (parallel), missed 20 even on review. Missed the parsley one because I misinterpreted the Q stem.
Alas. I'd take a 171 on test day (re-taking 169), but I've been doing a bit better than that, and there were a couple gimmes that I missed.

Seconding the notion that PT 68's LG section was absurdly tricky. The third game ended up being easier than it seemed due to the extreme restrictions placed on website durations, though. Was able to literally guess my way through half the game and just verify with hypos.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
Did anyone else find the PT 61 LG to be really easy? Normally I can only finish 3 games and maybe half the fourth, but for the first time I finished all four games with a minute to spare (granted, I still went -3...)
Was this a fluke or am I just getting it now? Anyway, did PT 61 today but in non-test-like conditions; at home, various pauses to tend to the new dog, etc. But all sections were still timed. Ended up with a 170.
-3 RC
-2 LR
-3 LG
-3 LR
Good way to end my study routine. Tomorrow I'll just get my stuff together for the big day and then watch the Spurs destroy the Heat in Game 2.

Yeah, definitely. Those extra 90-120 seconds I spent trying to figure out what it was asking would've been very helpful on the 2 that I didn't end up finishing. Maybe I just needed to read slower, or something.Mqt wrote:Seconding the notion that PT 68's LG section was absurdly tricky. It was a pretty straight forward game once you deciphered all the bullshit in the restrictions. I felt understanding the directions was the hardest part of the whole LG section. Game 4 was pretty simple, especially if you used previous work to answer the last couple questionsLDVM4334 wrote:Yeah, definitely. About to take a PT (after I do a couple of RC sections, and some LR drilling).. Wondering if I should do 67 (last fresh PT) or 62.. If I do 62 now and 67 tomorrow, I could bomb 67 and kill my confidence.. but if I bomb it now, that also probably doesn't help. It would be good to take 67 under test day conditions.. but I'm likely to be tired tomorrow, so bombing and killing of confidence is a high possibility. Blergh. What to do.

Re: JUNE 2013 Study Group / Study Partner Thread
So who's taking pharmaceuticals for assistance on this thing?
I'm prescribed Adderall (30 mg/day, theoretically) for many years, which actually probably hurt me last time when I took too much and rushed through RC out of nervousness/jitters, got a 169. Looking for a 170+ this time so I can get into Michigan, hopefully (in-state).
This time, I'll be taking less, plus some propranolol for performance anxiety, which has definitely also afflicted me in the past.
As long as there's no tricky game, it should be smooth sailing.
I've been clear-headed on LR, at least to the point where I can get the easy ones the first time through and be done in about 27-30 minutes, leaving me enough time to go back over the hard ones.
RC I have to concede 3 or so, just because I've only gotten under that like twice.
LG has been the variable, but I feel good enough now that so long as there's no ridiculously hard game, I should be okay.
Been scoring 171-176, with about -5 in LR and -3 in RC, the difference coming in games.
Famous last words, maybe.

I was tired as fuck on the December LSAT. Waking up at 7 something sucked major ass. On a regular Saturday, I would wake up at 10 or 11.

Yeah, June is sweet. Test itself doesn't start til like, almost 1 at the earliest, once you get everyone in the room and arranged and give your first handwriting sample.ManoftheHour wrote:The exam's at 1. Does everyone realize that's what the signing statement and writing sample are for? Handwriting samples?
Basically so you don't have someone come in and take the 1st or 2nd part of the test for you. They have an extensive sample of your handwriting at the beginning and end. Nothing else.

Just finished doing a couple RC sections (they sucked, of course- AS ALWAYS). Now it's onto my last fresh PT.

People keep saying we're taking PT69. Aren't we taking test #70? I have PT67 right in front of me and it reads "October 2012." That means PT 68 is December 2012, and PT 69 is February 2013 making ours Test #70.

This, especially when combined with a Jason Terry photo, is the kind of thinking that leads to a 160.ManoftheHour wrote:People keep saying we're taking PT69. Aren't we taking test #70? Games seem to be the new "fuck you" part of the exam, combined with somewhat harder LR.
Games 64+ (I took 63 and took everything relevant before that) are almost certainly HARDER, whereas RC is is almost certainly EASIER, or at least, on a personal level.
I am doing better than RC (used to be -4/6 and now -2/4) but worse at LG (used to be -0/1 and now -2/4).
Curve seems to work in our favor, though.

Finally took PT 67! Last fresh PT. Results were surprising (especially considering I took it at 5 AM!).
PT 67: 179
RC: -2
LR1: -0
LG: -0
LR2: -0
Total: -2 (RS: 98)
I was soooooo excited, thinking I was going to have a 180 on my last fresh PT ever (and my last PT [probably] before the test). Damn you, absurdly tight curve!
Anyway, this was still quite exciting, and a nice confidence boost, given how crappy my 60+ PTs have tended to be. Hope this also means I'm over my LG curse! (Now if only I could fix RC..)
