Hello everyone,
Does Cambridge still sell PTs individually? If not, where does one get PT 1-19 and 39-51 without buying individual ones from LSAC?

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Appreciate the encouraging words. However, after steadily improving my score over the past two months I just totally tanked even harder on a PT today. Haven't gotten a score that low since the beginning. Good to know my hard work is paying off and any supposed improvements could go out the window the day of the test. I want to die. *headdesk*proteinshake wrote:if you can score a 169, you can score a 178. I thought I peaked at a 169 last time I studied for this but I actually haven't scored below 173 in a while. don't worry, just keep working on your weak sections.Instrumental wrote:Been trying to break 170 so hard and keep coming up short. I got a 169 a few tests ago and haven't been able to do any better. I seriously hope I didn't peak out with that one. The test I just finished (28) was a disaster. I didn't get to all the questions in any section, the second game in AR I skipped and only had enough time for two questions, but I still missed a few from the other sections. Usually with AR, if I have time for the question I get it so that's frustrating. My RC score fell big time again, I thought I had that section pretty well down, but nope. My only saving grace was only missing six in LR (five in the first section and one in the second) I only got a 164 with a whopping -23 total.
I've got to take a break before I review the questions I get wrong because I'm just angry at myself at this point. My inability to be consistent on this is pretty much the result of an underlying theme of my entire goddamned existence. FML

I'm not sure that it will be my pump up music, but it's kind of solid. It has a bit of a harder french rap feel...sort of reminds me also of the golden age of Busta (or at least his faster flow).

Apparently, the scene over in SK is pretty big; it even has a rap competition show, with an all-female contestant spinoff.

just finished up the LG section from PT 43 and went -0. it was easy but I took the full time and I think it was probably cause I didn't warm up at all. I just got out of the shower and did it.

have yall seen this music video from Lil Dicky https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocGiulPm3IU -- I didn't know he was a good rapper and could actually be genuinely funny while telling a story. also I can't get the hook out of my head.Deardevil wrote:Korean hip-hop is the shit.34iplaw wrote:What is this. Just finished games from PT B, which may have been the last set of entirely new games I'll see aside from PTs. (might be some more hidden in the 40s somewhere, not sure.) -1 due to a stupid mistake, and took just about all 35 minutes. Obviously not where I'd like to be or probably should be, but at least I finished in time, didn't go -5, and survived a circular game unscathed. Hoping that's a sign that I'm starting to get my groove back. (eta: 3 out of the 4 games were rated 5/5 difficulty on 7sage. That makes me feel a bit better.)
There have been a lot of MA tags in my neighborhood lately. Maybe that cancels out the Cooley ads a bit, in terms of omens?

This is dope. Adding it to my playlist. Youre right though, it does have a busta-esque feel to it. The beat reminds of something that he's rapped on before too, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is34iplaw wrote:What is this. I read it with the memory method so figure out what's going on in each paragraph, second time just quickly give myself an overview of each paragraph if I don't remember then I'll scan over the paragraphs for keywords, turn paper over write a sentence for each paragraph and the main point at the end, go into the questions. Then I will check my answers. After this I try to review my wrong answers on my own. If I had trouble with the passage overview I will watch JY dissect the passage. Finally, I will double check my reasoning with the 7Sage videos for the questions or Manhattan.34iplaw wrote:For people doing the memory method, do you then try the passage normally, or do you check your answers and see why you got stuff wrong.

I don't really listen to music for pre LSAT prep unless you count the music I listen to while working out, I have a work out (without explicit lyrics) channel I listen to on Google Play. I've started listening to Mozart while I'm taking notes on a 7Sage lesson or doing LR lmao.
But, I voted for 2PAC bc I love love LOVED his music. I used to have all his lyrics memorized and would rap/freestyle with his songs. I loved that era of hip hop (2PAC, Biggie, Nate Dogg, Warren G, Bone Thugs in Harmony, A Tribe Called Quest etc.) I feel like hip hip has changed a lot, so I don't really listen to it anymore. That said I love underground hip hop so I've been to shows in other countries of their local hip hop lol.

So I finished one of the LG chapters, I'm going to be drilling a lot largely because of timing issues, I did pretty well on most of the LG -1 or perfect scores, but there were a few games I was confused on.
Question: If I feel confidant on a game but it took me 6.5 minutes to do, do you think I should drill it? I'm trying to get my timing between 5-7 or 8 minutes on all games I do/drill etc.
The President/Managers game (PT 14) I went -0 on in 5.2 minutes, but I feel I should drill it because I drew a weird diagram and made some guesses about who was doing the supervising with lines I drew, so I feel I should drill this game.

Getting killed by these questions that are like "The author's attitude toward X is best revealed by which word(s) from the passage?" [insert list of random words from the passage bearing very few adjectival connotations]
There are so many questions where I feel like I'm not 100% with any answer choice and could provide a solid argument for and against a few of them, and getting it right feels like a matter of luck. Of course, that can't be the case and there's got to be a way to crack this section. One day, maybe.

Regulate would probably be a pretty solid pump up song.
Bone Thugs is always welcome.
Electric Relaxation is probably one of my favorite songs. I was kind of tempted to type out every lyric I know off the top of my head... love Phife Dawg (RIP).
For my pump up song, I think I'm going to say Revolver by David Guetta ft. Madonna and Lil' Wayne. It. Is. Fantastic.
As for what was done today...
Finished up Testmasters LR HW (Flawed parallel methods [75/80]
Did 8 RC passages with the memory method (sort of messed up on the first two or so by not BRing and avoiding looking back for detail questions) and what not...so it was definitely a really rocky start.

I was fairly happy by the last few passages, but it took me a little to acclimate to the strategy. Ultimately, I think it may mainly help my speed and confidence in just trusting gut rather than overthinking things. I found that 3:30 is generally more than enough for me to read the passage at a fairly slow pace. I think the pressure of rushing into the questions is a real challenge.

Yeah... RC is bothering me more than it should, IMO. With attitude questions, generally it's very obvious if it is something extreme otherwise it will typically be author approves/disapproves with some type of qualifier that reduces the feeling. It's fairly uncommon (from what I've observed) that it is some feeling with a magnifier. That 'fertile' and 'applaud' bit I don't understand. I'm assuming that was one of those weird the attitude is best exemplified by which of the following words from the passage.Alexandros wrote:Getting killed by these questions that are like "The author's attitude toward X is best revealed by which word(s) from the passage?" Yeah, I generally do alright on attitude questions where it gives, you know, something that sounds like an attitude.34iplaw wrote:Yeah... RC is bothering me more than it should, IMO. I'm just completely baffled by these 'words from the passage' ones though. I feel like I understood his attitude alright, I just completely don't get why these two words apparently sum up his attitude. Gonna look up explanations.
eta: I looked up an explanation and it looks the words' context within the passage are of some relevancy, as opposed to just their independent meaning. Good to know...

Yeah - I mean I just got my first ( I think ? ) one of these one of the passages I just did. I don't know if it's the right strategy as I haven't seen many yet, but I just tried to make sure they captured their thoughts and were actually stated in reference to what they were asking about. It worked for that one questionAlexandros wrote:Yeah, I generally do alright on attitude questions where it gives, you know, something that sounds like an attitude.34iplaw wrote:Yeah... LG Update: I made copies for master game board blueprints, and for drilling (5 each for drilling).
I also made only 2 copies of the game I felt confidant on.. Guess what, I redid it and went perfect score in 3.5 minutes. BOOM.
I guess today's going to be a LG day.

Also, I'm going to stop posting until I get through this drill set.
BUT.
I just redid a game I did earlier that I got a few questions wrong on. I was rushing through the game and did not notice a critical inference that really affects the way you derive the game (the first time around
), AND another thing I noticed is I'm rushing to put together my game board that I don't list the game pieces/variables I'm working with at the beginning.
SO
I have to learn how to approach the rules SLOWLY, pause after each rule and make sure I got all the game pieces in. I got a perfect score on this game but got it at 8 minutes
which is JY's recommended time. I want to be much faster though. I'm going to watch JY's approach to this and see if its helpful and drill the rest in my set.

I love love LOVE Regulators, I haven't heard that David Guetta song (kind of been out of the music loop since I went hard core with the LSAT, that and I love country music too lol), I'm going to check that David Guetta song out on YouTube. I love his Bullet Proof song.34iplaw wrote: Love.

It sounds like the Memory Method is working for you!
For me what works with the questions (if I have time) is always trying to confirm my answer with the passage. Also sitting and watching the explanations + Manhattan (I prefer Manhattan's, it's more in depth and detailed) helps me understand where I went wrong and identify common LSAT traps.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
So, I used two of my own diagrams for the LG that I drilled. For one of them, I found my diagram to be more efficient than JY's. The other one was drawing hypotheticals which does eat up extra time (first time 7 minutes, second time 6.5 minutes), but the way JY explained and demonstrated had me REALLY confused. So I decided I will just write hypotheticals out for this one, and search for answer choices that are the correct ones instead of brute forcing every answer choice.
I mean what else can you do, right?
I still have four more games to drill from this set, and the next chapter has more sets of LG
oh well, did NOT think drilling was going to take this long!

It's just so frustrating in drilling when you first miss a critical inference in one set-up and decide to nail all the inferences in the next set-up, only to run over the time limit.......ngogirl12 wrote: I have to learn how to approach the rules SLOWLY, pause after each rule and make sure I got all the game pieces in.
