I mean you still have to play your hand right. You can't open with "hey I go to HLS. I like to study at the HLS library. I love to eat at ____ at HLS."Shakawkaw wrote:Ivy shtick is too elitist/too big of a crutch. Oh you went to HYS? Cool. Underwear's still staying on. Move along please.
I live with an Ivy elitist. It's not becoming. He hung his diploma above my bed.
You gotta act all modest and shit. Let it slip that you're going to law school to pursue your PI passion, because you feel strongly about justice. Then leave the whole law student conversation for a bit and talk about her. What does she like. Oh, wait, conversation went back to me? Where do I go to school? I didn't mention? I like to avoid it because it puts people off but I actually go to HLS.
*sound of underwear dropping*
@grey get out of here with your married woman wisdom, I'm trying to be young and immature here

Gaiz, hypothetically: if you had to choose between going to a foreign country for two years doing volunteer work or being in a relationship, which would you pick and why?

HYSC is a panty-dropper for me. Not going to lie. But I have yet to meet an Ivy graduate who wasn't successful in their field, so, YMMV.Shakawkaw wrote:Ivy shtick is too elitist/too big of a crutch. Throwing that heavy lay prestige around is a display of intellect, ambition, hard work, and present/future success, all of which are traits sexier (for most women) than a square jaw, slick hair, and 6 pack abs. If I were a HYS law student, man I'd work that shit so hard I'd have a supermodel under my arm 2 months into 1L.

Also, Rigo, I went for money rather than prestige. Big mistake. There was an article on this. An Ivy graduate will make more in their lifetime than another employee of comparative worth, for the reason that those schools have strong alumni networks.

Not any more than Penn or Dartmouth. The only heavy-hitting effective PREFTIGE schools for dropping jaws are:GreenTee wrote:To be fair, is Cornell really an Ivy?Shakawkaw wrote:I live with an Ivy elitist. It's not becoming. He hung his diploma above my bed.
Yale
Harvard
Stanford (not ivy)
Princeton (UG)
Oxford/Cambridge

Neither. But if I had to choose, the former. I've always preferred independence, though. Being in a relationship, for me, does not rank.Shakawkaw wrote:Gaiz, hypothetically: if you had to choose between going to a foreign country for two years doing volunteer work or being in a relationship, which would you pick and why?
