That's awesome progress! When did you take your first diagnostic?YupSports wrote:Been drilling RC for the past couple of days.
To my immense relief, speed is no longer an issue, as I am finishing sections with 3 to 4 minutes to spare.
Now, if only I could not miss 2 - 3 questions for each section from hurrying and misreading!
Also, if anyone wants to know: Diagnostic 151 then 160 on December 2015 and currently PTing at the 167 mark.
Anything over 170 is fine by me!

Slowly improving with logic games, albeit struggling with the timing. If I can go -0 on test day, the sky's the limit.
On a similar note, is anyone looking for an online study buddy for September?

So far its great! Despite it being an abnormally long book, it will be good. Its more action-packed and lively than Atlas Shrugged. Ayn Rand is just a phenomenal author to begin with, and her philosophy on "objectivism" is quite interesting. I think either Atlas Shrugged or Fountainhead are a must read for anyone. Its been on my list for years since reading the Anthem and just never got around to it.Doubting Law wrote:How is The Fountainhead? Hi guys,
I am glad to join this community. I started off very humble-139 on my diagnostic last September. I studied couple of months while attending school and finally scored a 152 in February, which was a bit lower then my timed mock tests (157-159). Now I'm aiming at a 165+ on the September one.

I am going through the LR bible and I noticed it stresses a lot about "prephasing." Most of the time it happens naturally to me, but sometimes I rather just look at the AC and cut to the chase. Will it be more beneficial for me to establish the habit of following through with the prephasing step in answering a LR question?

I haven't heard of that book, but i love economic/political philosophical thought, and my favorite genre of fiction is dystopia, so I might have to look into that one!proteinshake wrote:currently reading Anarchy, State, and Utopia! ahh same!! sorry I get excited about political philosophy. that and economic theory make up the majority of my reading so it's cool when I see other people who are into it as well.jagerbom79 wrote:I haven't heard of that book, but i love economic/political philosophical thought, and my favorite genre of fiction is dystopia, so I might have to look into that one!proteinshake wrote:currently reading Anarchy, State, and Utopia! Just finished the LG mastery challenge in the Trainer. Went minus one in the CD problem because I read the question stem wrong for question 9, didn't see it asking for new CDs. Went verrrry slow but kept time. 19, 17.5, 24, and 12 minutes respectively. Think it's time to start pushing pace in further drills...

Haha me too! Def going to look into that book. I took a class called perspectives of free enterprise and we had to analyze current economic events using support from the various school's of thought. Was definitely one of my favorite classes of undergrad.proteinshake wrote:ahh same!! sorry I get excited about political philosophy. that and economic theory make up the majority of my reading so it's cool when I see other people who are into it as well.jagerbom79 wrote:I haven't heard of that book, but i love economic/political philosophical thought, and my favorite genre of fiction is dystopia, so I might have to look into that one!proteinshake wrote:currently reading Anarchy, State, and Utopia! Still, almost 20 points in a year is certainly an improvement. Those 170s are just around the corner.YupSports wrote:Sometime around July of 2015 - the exact month escapes me.Archer@Law wrote:That's awesome progress! How do you guys allocate your study time to each of the sections everyday? Do you break up your time daily or just set a weekly goal?

This is relevant to my interests. I work full-time in addition to maintaining a full time class schedule (out for summer of course).jagerbom79 wrote:How do you guys allocate your study time to each of the sections everyday? Do you break up your time daily or just set a weekly goal?
I work evenings, so I normally study for a few hours before work and then an hour or so after. Then hit it harder on the weekends. I have daily goals, but use the weekend for catch-up.
My one concern is how I'm going to balance my last month of prep when fall semester starts back up in late August.
P.S. I think I might have accidentally reported your post. Fail.

Im using the bibles for LG/LR and Manhattan for RC for now.
I have looked at Powerscore's sample study plans which are based on completing x amount of chapters each week. Im trying to decide if its better to do a half chapter of each section everyday or do LG one day, LR the next and so on.. or pick two for one day and switch one of them out the next. When I get to the real drilling and PT phase, it will be easier to organize, but while im still going through the bibles I want to make sure im doing it effectively

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
I don't know if it will help at all, but I really like the Trainer so far. Mike addresses things from a really fundamental perspective. The idea is that everything you do is built on a foundation of certain skills, and in order to score highly, those fundamentals have to be on point. If you're getting misses, they are often a symptom of a misstep further upstream. And you search for that misstep in your base process and then reconstruct your process. He really concentrates on the commonalities of games, rather than their differences.SweetTort wrote:I used the Logic Games Bible and Manhattan for the rest, but now I'm just drilling LG and using 7sage.Archer@Law wrote:Are you using any study materials like the Trainer or Manhattan at all?SweetTort wrote:Logic games are going to kill me. Again, I don't know if it will help, but if you have $40 you can spend on the Trainer, it might be worth a shot lol, I feel like I should be getting a commission for that pitch.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
For me, I like higher exposure, repetition, and more reviewing. I retain much better that way. I like focusing on one chapter in the morning on LG, LR, or RC for example, and then working on review for whatever I didn't do in the morning, at night before bed.jagerbom79 wrote:I will be working this summer full-time as well and school in the fall.Archer@Law wrote:This is relevant to my interests. So if I worked on mainly LR last week, and I'm doing mainly LG this week, I will do my review on LR.

So I am working more than full time hours and here is what I do/did:Archer@Law wrote:This is relevant to my interests. I followed the 7Sage 16 week plan that allocated around 12 hours a week of study.
I worked each weekday (Monday - Friday) for 2 to 2.5 hours after work and dinner. I would then do whatever was left on the schedule for that week on Saturday.
This allowed me to still get sleep, not burnout, and have a social life.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
