You should trust Lil Sebastian's advice over mine. My history with committing to the LSAT has been pretty wishy-washy...was going to take September '14 but ended up having knee surgery the day before. Took June. Was going to retake that fall. Decided not to. Thought about December. Decided not to. ended up going with Feb but didn't leave myself a ton of time. So...scratch what I said. If you feel there's a chance you didn't reach or exceed your goal, plan to retake. Start studying now. If you get your score and are satisfied, then you're off the hook. If you're unsatisfied, at least you've gotten 3 extra weeks inLi'l Sebastian wrote:Nuuuu. This is a mistake I've seen too many times! Taking three weeks off is to be avoided at all costs! I think a section a day is the reccomended strategy until he gets his score. He should be on the retake wagon UNTIL he gets his score. This is the best way to minimize risks.AbbeyS wrote:This was such a confusing question lol. But I gather you're asking if you should retake? Yeah either way give yourself a few days to a week to let your brain reset. For anyone wondering, here's some February release date facts for Feb lsats since 2005
Happy Waiting~!
- - From 2005-2011 6 tests were released on a Friday, 3 days before release date
- Since 2011 No Feb LSAT has been released on a Friday and the average early release dropped from 3 days to 1 day.
- From 2005-2011 the average time to release was 20 days
- Since then it has moved up to 24 days
- Since 2005 no Feb test has been released more than 3 days early.
Happy Waiting~!

Took almost a year break after my first LSAT and it took maybe 2 weeks to get back up to speed. Wouldn't worry too much.

Haha, similar experience with LR.
I didn't touch it for 2-3 months, took my first timed section, went -8, took another half an hour later and went -1, took another the next day and went -2.
Not sure how that applies to LG though...
Oh, this was 2 days before this Saturday too lol.

Yeah I went from July to December last year without touching my prep materials....then my first PT was 10 points higher than my June test. Stayed 10+ average on all my PTs thereafter. Sometimes a fresh perspective helpsugg wrote:Took almost a year break after my first LSAT and it took maybe 2 weeks to get back up to speed. Wouldn't worry too much.

I think it makes a load of difference depending on how well an individual grasps and understand the content. Someone who has an intuitive understanding of the test would probably be less worse off from a break.AbbeyS wrote:Yeah I went from July to December last year without touching my prep materials....then my first PT was 10 points higher than my June test. Someone who's only spent two weeks on this on the other hand..... They need to capitolize on what they've been building.

Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
Trueeeee. It really depends on the individual. I retook for the same reason this person did....I was working 70 hour weeks & ended up only having a month to study. Did ok but knew I hadn't reached my potential. So I had time off. Went back with a new approach to my studying & focused on the fundamentals....Li'l Sebastian wrote:I think it makes a load of difference depending on how well an individual grasps and understand the content. Really the fundamentals make the world of difference in your score. LSAT Trainer for the win

Re: The Official February 2016 Waiter's Thread
Ok, I need some advice…
I've already been admitted to several schools and am waiting on a couple more…but I am tempted to send a couple apps in to even higher-ranked schools.
The issue is that most apps close before we'll get our test back, so I'm relying on just hope that I performed as well as my PTs…is it worth it this late in the cycle to send in apps at the risk of my score not being what I expected? I guess in the worst case scenario, I'll be out $50-75 for app fees and get rejected. Right? idk. Tell me your thoughts, guys.

This late in the cycle, you definitely risk underperforming your numbers by applying. Probably not worth it unless you'll be wondering "What if..." Then it's maybe worth it for peace of mind.AbbeyS wrote:Ok, I need some advice…

My only objection to that is that schools *claim* that February test takers aren't disadvantaged. So if they're true to their word then I should have just as much chance as anyone.
Unfortunately for me though, northwestern is one of the schools that explicitly says there may be no seats left if you take February...and that's one of the ones I was considering applying to. Lol ugh. I'm in a pickle.

I vote go for it. Reach out to schools and see if they are still giving out fee waivers, I was able to get one a week or two ago. Worst case, you don't get in, and you know it, best case, you get into an awesome school and have a decision to make!AbbeyS wrote:Ok, I need some advice…

Northwestern just emailed me to extend my fee waiver until later this month. I say go for it.AbbeyS wrote:Underperforming my numbers as in, they would've had more impact earlier in the cycle than later?splitterfromhell wrote:This late in the cycle, you definitely risk underperforming your numbers by applying.
