Hi all - new here and excited to join this group.

I've been wanting to go to law school off and on over the past few years but my wife and I found out she's pregnant in late June. Now that I know I"m going to be a father, I'm getting the motivation I need to get off my ass and hit the books for the June LSAT. I figure it's much easier to study for the LSAT before my first priority becomes a newborn baby. I'm hoping to get into University of Washington but with a LSAC GPA of 3.4, I'm gonna have to get above a 170 to be admitted, I think.

I've got PS books at home, but 7sage looks great. I may just have to enroll in that for a Christmas gift. Can't wait to read some more threads and absorb the tribal knowledge that's accumulated here for so long.

I am six pages away on my senior thesis from graduating/revisiting the LSAT. I cannot wait for these next few weeks to be over so I can plunge into the land of 180 glory.

Officially checking in. I've been lurking for about a month. Started prep for the June 2014 LSAT at the end of October and I need to get serious! I graduated from a Seven Sisters College in 2004 and I've been working as an editor and research manager at NYC publishing houses since that time. My husband and I just had our first baby last March.

GPA: 3.5 (from a top liberal arts college)
LSAT goal: 173+
Tools: Logical Reasoning and Logic Games Bible, Manhattan prep, 30+ official practice LSATs. Considering snagging the Cambridge materials sometime before January...

I just got started with the LSAT Trainer. I posted a question in Mike's thread about when I should start drilling with the Cambridge Bundles (I just finished lesson 4). I'm anxious to really get into the practice, but I also need to make sure I don't rush any part. There is a lot of time before now and June 9th.

Another thought that I had (as I'm sure many others have had) to maintain motivation and desire to put in the time and effort on the LSAT is the return on investment. Is there any other single exam that you will ever study for that gives you as great a return on investment as the LSAT? Think about it. Lets say we have two people: Person A and Person B. Neither is a savant, and for neither student does the LSAT material come naturally. Person A spends 6 months of dedicated studying and gets a 172 on the LSAT. Person B spends a month of on again off again studying and gets a 154. Person A gets into a T-14 law school and gets a salary of 85k. Person B gets into a TT school and gets a 50k salary. In your first year of employment, putting in that extra time of studying of the LSAT is earning you an extra 35k a year (for a measly 5 extra months of studying). Sure, there are many other variables to consider and these numbers may be off, but they wouldn't be impossible or even unreasonable. Bottom line, keep up the good fight!

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out when to drill which packets. I've been drilling simple ordering games, for example, and I'm noticing that there are some under/overbooked games in there as the relative difficulty increases. I also looked at the relative ordering packet after the first chapter, since I assumed it would have games that deal primarily with ordering chains, but I did not find that to be the case. Basically I'm confused about which Cambridge packets should align with which chapters in BPLG.

Anybody who has gone through this before: Can you give me a quick run-down? How do the Cambridge classifications line up with the BP lessons?

The salaries are probably not accurate. I know for sure that the 50k number is generous. My cousin graduated from a school that is borderline TT/TTT last spring. He's currently working as a glorified paralegal, or even more likely, secretary.

I'm currently drilling with the LGB and Manhattan LG book for 2-3 hours/day and the Manhattan LSAT Interact: Logic Games self-directed course. I do one practice test (old, untimed) per weekend.

Once I feel more confident with the logic games (my weakest section by far), I'm going to do the same with the LR Bible. I'm routinely missing only 1-2 questions in RC, so that will come last.

Into week 2 I go following Mike's 16 week standard study schedule as I progress through the Trainer. The first four introductory chapters gave me a good idea what to expect and the first diagnostic I took (PT52) showed me I have a long way to go (scored a 150).

Here are some things I observed through my first diagnostic:
1) Time really affected my focus and caused me to rush- I think as I develop more LSAT type problem solving skills, this will improve
2) Every little sound outside/inside distracted me- It might be best to take PT's in noisy conditions to train my mind to focus in spite of the distractions
3) Strangely I got most of the questions correct I was unsure of in my blind review, but missed MANY questions I was fully confidant in answering- This is worrisome as it appears I may have been caught in traps or totally missed the mark during different portions

I'm up for the challenge.

I'm pretty early into the book, but I think so. Right now, I'm thinking I will go through the trainer in its entirety, then go back and go through the MLSAT books to improve where I'm lacking after that. I figure I've got enough time to do it. Also, if you ask Mike (author of The LSAT Trainer) questions in his thread, he is incredible at responding to your questions.

I'm still fuzzy about how to combine the Cambridge bundles with my study plan, so I asked over in his thread about it. He responded in no time. Kind of nice when you can have the author of the book around to answer specific questions.

Checking In! I took December last Saturday and know that I fell 5-8 points shy of my goal of a 170, and thus, my MVP aspirations. I decided to retake June, but I'm running on limited material. I have PT 66-70 fresh, and the LR and RC from PT 35-50 fresh, so that would be a reasonably accurate score predictor. I'm going to use the Trainer and the Manhattan series to prepare, and I'm going to start as soon as my finals end, which is on Thursday, as I am in UG. Best of Luck to all the June takers/retakers!
