I took my pencils out of the bag and put the on the floor under my desk- never had a proctor say anything, but ours were teensy desks.

After visiting this topic, even for non LSAT work I hate using a yellow-colored pencil.

No, but it was the first one in a timed classroom setting with a "proctor." The rest I did were just timed at home. I'm not sure if it make a difference, but I did feel more nervous in a setting with others.

What grade lead is the Black coloured Palomino Blackwing (not the 602)? And is it acceptable for a scantron?

Blackwings aren't graded. The black blackwings are around 3B. I haven't tried them though. The 602s are around HB (which is what scantron calls for) when I write normally, and they get darker if I increase pressure. If HB is dark enough to fill in a bubble, then darker leads than than HB should be dark enough to fill in a bubble.

Here's a comparison from someone else:

I took a prep course last fall. If we didn't get the score we liked, we can take it again for free. I'm not taking it again because it didn't really help. The thing is, if you're PTing in the mid to upper 160s, you pretty much have the basics down. You just need to fine tune them. A class that teaches you about contrapositives and how to diagram isn't really going to help you score much higher. However, I'm still sitting in on the weekly Saturday mock exams.

LOL. I was looking at yelp reviews when one reviewed contained the word "gringo," which I did not know what it meant. Then I saw this.

I think it's a sign.

Yeah. I was looking at a review for a Mexican restaurant. One reviewer called it a "gringo" place. Had no idea what that meant.

I think it's time to buy the Blackwings. I've been intrigued with them for a while but THIS IS A SIGN. There's no clearer sign than "BUY NOW." Sorry Ticon Blacks.

I'm also going to buy the 602's. I'm embarrassed to admit this, but I'm actually buying the 180 watch

I just lost a whole lot of respect for Manhattan LSAT. In the front cover of their LR book, a supposed student of theirs is holding a PEN. Yes, that is right, a freakin pen while studying for the LSAT.

Random pencil update!

I am loving the Palomino HBs. Maybe even more than the Palomino Blackwing 602s. Definitely my test day pencil (knock on wood.. or pencils); just bought an extra pack so I'd be *sure* they'd arrive on time (I'm burning through my first pack; that Kum long-point sharpener produces a mighty fine point [I'm addicted to it], but it sure eats up a lot of pencil).

Anyway. In case any of you dweebs care. Cheaper than the 602s, and the best test pencil I've tried yet.

Better than the 602's? Damn. Right now I only have the Golden Bear and the Black Blackwing sharpened. Is the one you're talking about the blue one? I think that's the one I'll be going to battle with on game day since it's HB aka scantron acceptable.

Yep, the blue ones (they're also made in orange). Golden Bear doesn't compare.

The Palomino is a pretty sweet pencil. I do like the 602s, but I'll probably end up going with the Palomino just to be safe on the HB issue.

I use the yellow Dixon Ticonderogas. I don't have a reason for doing so, other than the fact that I already had two packs of them. Also, something to keep in mind for those of you taking in October, any gains that you may achieve by selecting, and toiling over the selection of, your future pencil, are likely much less than the benefits of drilling any question type in LR for two hours or less.

Yes, this is important to know.

But that doesn't mean pencil choice doesn't matter at all .

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
