Re: Hardest Reading Comprehension Passages?
PT's 31 and 16 I had my two worst RC scores, -6 and -5 respectively, out of 42 or so PT's. I think the -6 might have been because I took it late at night after a long day and I was already fatigued, so i'm not sure if these are really the ones I thought the hardest.
I think my worst RC passage was a -3 from PT 16, the 3rd passage, dealing with the "theory of self-organized criticality" if anyone remembers this one.
On PT 31, I missed 2 on 3 of the 4 passages, 1, 3, and 4, which were:
"Industrial Ecosystem"
"Donna Haraway's Primate Visions"
"Philsophers subjective vs. objective"
(titles are mine). If anyone remembers these, I thought they were pretty difficult.
Other ones I recall as difficult was the artist who rejected abstract and created modernism with his cartoonish work? if anyone remembers that one. Also the one about the artist/painter (?) who blended religion and anti-racism (?) together in his work, and kept the religious themes as he got older, but also never forgot about the racism?

I found the code switching passage of Puerto Ricans to be pretty tough.
Some of the correct answers didn't make sense to me for a while...
I actually liked the talk story passage.

Re: Hardest Reading Comprehension Passages?
Yeah fractals was really tough too, kind of suprised me because I hadn't heard of it until I took it, and I think it should be considered one of the more infamous RC passages. What PT is Noguchi from? I'm guessing 59, because that's the only PT I haven't taken (with the exception of PT's 1-6, and the ones excluded from the 1st 10 book). Although I might have done it and forgotten it.Hey-O wrote:I too hated talk story, but then I have never read Kingston Hong.

Re: Hardest Reading Comprehension Passages?
I'm so glad to see a huge consensus against chinese talk story. I took that pt last week and got a -7 on RC and couldn't believe it. I knew it was hard but its reassuring to see so many people agree on how hard it really was.

Re: Hardest Reading Comprehension Passages?
Funny how everyone reacts to different passages differently. I did PT 16 recently and got -0 in RC. Haven't run into any truly rough RC passages yet, but I'm going to have to go find that talk story passage for sure, based on these reviews.Knock wrote:PT's 31 and 16 I had my two worst RC scores, -6 and -5 respectively, out of 42 or so PT's.
