Take neither the LSAT or the MCAT. Study computer science. Go into tech. Enjoy being a part of the future and not the past.

this is like asking what is the best strategy to win a triathlon before you've learned how to swim and ride a bike.

You will be smarter after taking college classes, especially on RC. Take the LSAT then.

you don't need 3 years to study for the MCAT, so I would wait to take the LSAT bro. You could take it your junior year of college, then take the MCAT after that year, and you'd be fine and have better perspective. plus you'll score higher.

the reason people are telling you to calm your balls is because we're all in our mid-twenties and know that pretty much everything in our lives changed from 17 to the end of college. some people know what they want to to do, who they want to marry, how they like their coffee, and their favorite cocktail when they're 16, but given the fact that you're angling to be a lawyerdoctorbusinessmanprofessor, that's probably why people are skeptical. You should study what law school actually is, maybe take a couple philosophy or law classes in UG, take some MCDB classes to see if you enjoy that, do a lab, and decide from there.

Wrong analogy. I'm asking if I want to be compete in a triathlon 4 years from now, what my strategy as of today. May be it's starting out with walking 5K in x minutes, biking 25 miles in x minutes, swimming 1 mile by the end of summer, etc. Or may be it's some sort of stamina training by the end of summer, etc.
Just listen to kronk. he is giving you solid advice AND being nice to you, which is more than you're going to get out of anyone else at this point.

Okay. Let's look at this a different way. If you have a son or daughter. That offspring is brilliant (not me since I'm only slightly average and my school of choice is almost a TTT, but then I have a law job waiting for me with one of the people I had mentioned). That offspring can get into Yale Med and Law with some effort. That offspring is one of those kids who know what they want since they were little. So to him/her, Yale MD/JD is it. Nothing else would suffice.

Would you give your own offspring the same advice?

i can't process this, it's too ridiculous. I would tell someone this brilliant to start out with the MD and go from there. Law school will always be there, and doctors are never out of work.

I would not tell that offspring to take the LSAT in Sept of his/her first year of college, no, because LSAT scores expire, that offspring might change their mind about when they want to go, some exciting short-term opportunity might come up to interrupt your plans, and chances are good that they'd end up needing to take it again later anyway. Plus starting college is a huge adjustment and I think it would be a poor time to take on something like the LSAT, and you'll likely do better on the exam after a few years of college. Plenty of people study for the LSAT or MCAT while working/taking classes.

Please be a troll.

I don't want to believe that there's a 17 year old high school kid out there who's this arrogant and pretentious. This is the worst case of special snowflake syndrome I've ever seen.

Cool... I can see the conversation with your kid now:

Kid: Mom, ever since I was 5, I loved being a Doctor. And having seen you at work, I also love being an attorney. So as I decide on a career, I want to try to do both by getting a JD/MD at the same time. What do you think?

anyriotgirl: Be a Doctor.

Kid: Why?

anyriotgirl: Cause I'm your mom and I told you so.

Kid: But all these schools have JD/MD programs and I really want to go to one of them.

anyriotgirl: start out with the MD and go from there. Law school will always be there, and doctors are never out of work.

Kid: You don't think I could do it?

anyriotgirl: that's not what I said.

Kid: I could see it in your eyes.

anyriotgirl: Oh honey, you can start out as an MD, then if that doesn't work out, you can retake your career. Take the LSAT. If you do low on the LSAT, you can retake that too. And if that doesn't work out, marry someone rich. And if that doesn't work out, retake marriage with a different husband.

Kid: Ah... so live life with many retakes. Brilliant! Thanks mom!
are you always this aggressively stupid? or do you just get defensive when reasonable people tell you that you are trying to do something that doesn't make a whole lot of sense?

anyriotgirl: Be a Doctor. Or honestly, start college, try pre-med, and see how you feel in 3 years. No need to rush into any big decisions at 17.

Kid: Why?

anyriotgirl: Because 17 year olds almost never know what they want out of life, for good reason. Even when they think they do, they change their minds (or have a midlife crisis later). You do a huge amount of growing and developing as a person during college. Also, law school and med school are both huge commitments in terms of debt, which can make life suck, and effort. If you really can't choose, go for the MD because being a doctor is a more stable profession, and might do some good for the world that way.

Kid: But all these schools have JD/MD programs and I really want to go to one of them.

anyriotgirl: JD/MD programs exists because kids like you exist. Schools aren't going to turn down money for no reason. If this still seems like what you really want to do when you're 21, let's have another chat. There's probably a tiny subset of people it's actually right for, but let's give it some time to find out.

Kid: You don't think I could do it?

anyriotgirl: Of course you can. It would just probably be dumb.

Kid: I could see it in your eyes.

anyriotgirl: That I think your plan is dumb? You're so perceptive.

People regularly study for the LSAT while working and going to school. I studied for the LSAT over 2 months while taking 16 credits and working 40 hours a week. You don't need to micromanage your own life. Just take the LSAT when you're 20 and call it a day.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
