Re: June 2013 LSAT (re)take Thread
1) I am overseas as well, but my primary motivation is to give myself a lot more time so that I can set myself up for the next cycle.
2) This will be my third time: i) 162, ii) 163. These two scores were 10 points below my average PT's.
3) My goal is in the 170's.
Nice to meet you all!

1) Why are you taking/retaking in June 2013?
So I can get to a t14 law school (and probably because I a bloated self-expectation).
2) What are your previous score(s)?
Oct. 2011--164; Oct. 2012--167
3) What is your target score?
170+
I have done all the PTs, so I am a little lost as to where to start and whether I have maxed out my potential (I got -8 LG on Oct. 2012).

Re: June 2013 LSAT (re)take Thread
Same happened to me too! Well actually, it happened to me twice. After PTing in the high 160s/low 170s, I ended up with a 159 in October and a 160 in December. So frustrating. I think it was nerves both times. I guess we know we can do better. I was thinking of doing February, but given that it'll be my third retake, I guess June is a safer bet.rigs321 wrote:Same happened to me, don't get discouraged this happens sometimes, nerves or just missing something. The good news is that we have PT higher, and we know we can get there. I was discouraged at first but now I just see an opportunity to do even better than I was expecting to do in December!Scotchandsoda wrote:

At this point, I just want to hit my PTS scores, which were in the high 160's. I don't know what happened on this one. I'm trying not to be discouraged, but I just don't know.

Does anyone know if the Manhattan guides for the 3rd edition changed a lot for the LR and RC sections? I know LG changed a lot.

1) I'm retaking for a second time because I'm unsatisfied with my previous scores and still think I can do better.
2) june 12 - 168, oct 12 - 166
3) as close to 180 as I can muster.
I'm planning to take Mon/Wed/Sat for study during the spring, with full PTs each and every Saturday in as close to test conditions as I can make. Also first on the agenda will be to retake PT67 and comprehensively review it, since I never went over it from October.

I get off work at five, get home around 530, and start full pt by about six. I don't think splitting a pt would do you any favors. Also it could be potentially damaging to stamina/timing.

Agreed about splitting PT's, except for when drilling particular sections.deputydog wrote:weathercoins wrote:Anybody else working full-time but trying to fit PT's/study before and after work?

I was on a similar schedule to you, but noticed that I preferred doing PT's in the morning (or early afternoon on the weekend). I don't go into work until 930 or 10, and I think my brain is sharper before work, rather than after sitting at a computer for much of my workday. So I have been waking up at 645, doing 4 section PT's starting at 740 (ending at about 950), then going to work. Not sure what I'll do when I move onto 5 section PT's though as June gets closer.

1) Why are you taking/retaking in June 2013?
I want to attend a t14 law school, such as UCLA or NYU.
2) What are your previous score(s)?
I scored a 160 in December 2012.
3) What is your target score?
I would love a 170+ but anything about 167 would be great as well.
Anyone have feedback on the new Manhattan LSAT books?

Yes, I mainly do my full-PT's in the evening (during the weekdays) and the morning (if it's during the weekend).weathercoins wrote:Anybody else working full-time but trying to fit PT's/study before and after work?

Re: June 2013 LSAT (re)take Thread
Why am I taking the June 2013 LSAT?
I want to apply next cycle and keep open the possibility for an October retake if I falter.
What are my previous scores?
I've only taken PrepTests. Cold diag 163 I think. I've been studying for about two weeks and my scores have been in the 162-166 range.
Target score?
Shoot for the 180, even if you miss you may land amongst the 170s. But seriously, 172+ I will be happy, 174+ I will be ecstatic, and below 170.... CERTAIN DOOM!/would retake

Re: June 2013 LSAT (re)take Thread
Longtime lurker checking in.
1) Why are you taking/retaking in June 2013?
Because my LSAT scores are 2-3 points higher than my cold diag and pretty awful for the schools I want to go to. Therefore, I'm sitting out this cycle and prepping for June.
2) What are your previous score(s)?
165 in Oct 2012, and 164 in Dec 2012.
3) What is your target score?
180. Given my previous scores and the fact that I don't have an LSDAS GPA, I have to destroy the June LSAT to get into the schools I want to attend (T14, esp. T6 + M).
Good luck to us all!

Checking in...
1) Why are you taking/retaking in June 2013?
I want to go to a T-14 and with my URM status I have a great opportunity if I decide to put everything I got into this test.
2) What are your previous score(s)?
159, 158.... Yeah I actually did worse in Dec 2012
3) What is your target score?
I'm shooting for perfection, and I won't sit for the test unless I'm pting consistently in the 170s.

Re: June 2013 LSAT (re)take Thread
If my cycle does not go well, I'll be retaking in June...
1) Why are you taking/retaking in June 2013?
I would like to get some money at one of the top schools in CA (Boalt, USC or UCLA) and with my GPA as it is, need a solid score. My Dec '12 LSAT was thirteen points lower than what I was PTing at.
2) What are your previous score(s)?
In the 150s...
3) What is your target score?
168+ but I would really like to break 170.
Good luck to everyone! We have 6 months to prepare to destroy this test!

Re: June 2013 LSAT (re)take Thread
Hello I have been lurking for a bit and decided to finally jump in for a study group.
1) I am taking the test in June and dedicating myself for the next 4 and a half months. I have been working Full-time internationally since last June. Being in South America, I was unable to study with any hard copy books. I had digital files but it was difficult and or expensive to get any actual papers printed. I took the October '12 test and absolutely bombed for combined reasons. I had to travel 24 hours in order to take the LSAT in Peru. I also did not take the studying seriously enough, only spending a month dedicated to true studying. I took about 10 PTs before the real thing and had been testing anywhere from 157-163. Unwisely, I was content with 162+ because I set my aims for a school near home, ASU. When test day came, I knew that if everything went well I would do just fine and be in at ASU, but in the back of my head, if anything went wrong I was in trouble. Well, I ran into the zones and it threw me off entirely.
2) My score came back and I thought I was bordering 160. Unfortunately I earned myself a measly 155. The worst part is that I took it at an international location so I only had my score and percentile, with no section breakdowns.
3) As mentioned earlier, I am completely dedicated to doing this thing right this time. I felt pretty dejected after the October results finally came back and I reconsidered my options. I decided to remain determined and I plan to average 20 hours a week and a bump to 30-40 hours in late April and May. I took a "cold" diagnostic, first time I have done anything related to the LSAT since the Oct. test, and I ended up with a 163. I have realized there is no reason not to set my goal for 168+. I know this is a jump, but with the minimal effort I put in previously, I don't feel it was an accurate measure.
I will be posting here and on the June 2013 thread to hold myself accountable for my efforts. Look forward to talking with you guys in the future and destroying it in June.

3) I think it's always good to aim for 180, so that's my June target! But realistically, I will be happy with a 170+. Won't settle for less.

Checking in!
1) Why are you taking/retaking in June 2013?
Took the December LSAT and scored considerably lower than my average.
2) What are your previous score(s)?
x
3) What is your target score?
My goal is a 170. I am only interested in one school (regional) and want to go for free - or as close to it as possible. If I get there then I may apply to HYS just to see how I'd do since my LSAC GPA is 3.93 and I have some decent softs.
The LSAT has been a humbling experience. I consider myself to be somewhat of an overachiever and, while I usually worked hard for my good grades, things usually came somewhat easy for me. LSAT has caused me to re-evaluate all of that lol. I do believe it is a learnable test and am using my embarrassing score to fuel the need for revenge. Here's to hoping that 5 months is enough time to increase by 13 points!

Re: June 2013 LSAT (re)take Thread
I'm about halfway through MLSAT LG. Will begin MLSAT LR in February (still drilling LG), and then begin PT'ing in March.
I am not concerned with having dozens of diagnostics, and I've already taken almost every test released. I think my plan instead is to use the even-numbered (50, 52...66)recent tests to drill LG and RC. LG was my weakness before, primarily because I focused too much on the games from PT 19-38.
This leaves odd-numbered tests for diagnostics/full PT timing practice.

Also, I'm not sure if this is all that helpful, but would anyone be interested in pairing up for weekend Skype review? I scored 165 in October. PM me.

About to take my first test in February.. here's hoping I won't need to do a June retake! Probably will end up taking it regardless (well, not regardless of a 180, but somehow I don't think that will be happening!).
ETA (6/8/13): Lol, I was so young and naive back then.

Re: June 2013 LSAT (re)take Thread
1) Why are you taking/retaking in June 2013?
I'm a Sophomore in UG but I'm spending all of next year (through April at least) abroad in Australia and then working for Scottish Parliament. I figure I won't have enough time to properly study/prepare for the LSAT's then so I'm taking them now while I have time to study.
2) What are your previous score(s)?
No previous tests but I'm scoring mid 160's so far on practice tests
3) What is your target score?
My target score is a 172. My number 1 school is Upenn and possibly Harvard if I can manage a higher score. If not I'm hoping for good financial aid from a Philly school.

1) Why are you taking/retaking in June 2013?
After a cold diagnostic of 160 I studied all last summer and was PTing 170-172 pretty consistently before returning to school in the fall. Didn't keep up the practice during the school year and flopped on my October LSAT.
