hey girlie.
yes, it is close enough, but that doesn't preclude me from procrastinating, evidently. Once the tasty food is gone and I wake up before noon, i think the freak out will kick negative reinforcement in motion, which will, in turn, motivate me to study.
ok im off to eat...

Spent my first day of the New Year continuing to procrastinate LSAT preparation, not a good start. Hopefully others were more successful. Actually, this is graded on a curve, so hopefully they weren't more successful. Wink, wink.

Today is a travel day for me -- 14 hours either on a plane or in an airport -- so there isn't so much studying going on. But I'll start back in tomorrow.
We can do this, y'all! We're going to kick the LSAT's ass!

I know you were joking but fortunately (or unfortunately?) it's not that kind of curve.Alpine wrote:Spent my first day of the New Year continuing to procrastinate LSAT preparation, not a good start. Not sure if I'm in yet or not. Content with my Oct score, but cycle is sort of sucking atm, so I'm going to take a practice test tomorrow and see where I stand. If it goes well, I'll be joining you guys for some of this non disclosed BS.

Thanks! I'm inclined to agree, but I'm a sucker for nerds, the FBI, the paranormal, and conspiracies, so I might be biased. Oct games owned me, but I thought the rest was ok (was a retake).

yeah, i am big on the same geeky stuff (reading Sichin's books is proof). oct games were my best section, but nerves were a huge factor why LR and RC were a disaster. i really want to get it over with in Feb (june is a pain in the ass because i am a morning person).

Hooray for X-Files. Classic stuff.
Just checked in to my apartment in Calgary (where I'll be staying for the next month or so) and I have a desk in my bedroom, which makes me beyond happy -- I can study at home instead of having to go out into the freezing cold Calgary winter.
Plan for tomorrow -- read some more of the LR Bible and drill some LR sections from PTs I've already done.

Re: The Slightly More Official February 2011 LSAT Thread
Ok, I'm officially in after my semi-diagnostic today. Was PTing at about 175 before Oct, and then had a meltdown on the games take me down to 172 on the real thing. Took PT 22 today just to see if I was too rusty to warrant a retake, and got another 172. Missed 4 on the games, so I'm hoping my timing is just out of whack.
I've already taken most of the PTs from 11-38, 50-61 as either sections or full tests, so I think my studying strategy this time around will be to take tests 40-49 on Friday and Sunday of every week until the test, with PT 60 and 62 the week leading up to the test. I'll mix in sectional work of things I've already done on my lunch breaks at work, and maybe review the LGB.
So, gl to everyone taking the test this Feb! Anyone going to be taking it in Ohio? I can fill you in on 2 of the testing centers from personal experience, and I have friends who took it at Oberlin if anyone wants to know about Ohio testing centers.

Re: The Slightly More Official February 2011 LSAT Thread
After one month of "meh", took my first "blind", 5-section LSAT (i.e. one where I haven't seen half the questions from drilling beforehand) a week ago and got a 164 (-17 on a -10 test). I have 15 more planned (49-62, Superprep A/B/C-is that 15 or 16?) and I can officially say I'm freaking the fuck out.
But at least 10 points down, 6 or 10 more to go(I haven't decided what score I want). Ugh. Someone please tell me people improve exponentially over the last month of prep.

I took PT49 and got a.....
Drum roll please......
156. EIGHT points below what I normally score. Fuck this. I'm getting an MBA instead.
Is PT49 a particular brand of suck (I guess I could brush it off as an off day but I can't help but think that if there's a 11 point swing between a good day and off day something HAS to be up), or should I just start practicing case interviews?

Hm, did you mess up a section that you're usually good at or something? That's a really big drop.motiontodismiss wrote:I took PT49 and got a.....

I'm very proud of myself today. I sat down and drilled a ton of games/sections. Excited for next week to take my first PT after so long!

Messed up two. Actually, 3. Every single damn one except LR2. PT46 was -3LG -5RC -8LR. PT49 was -4LG -11RC -14LR. I didn't feel all that great going into it, but I still expected to stay in the 160s. Bad LG section tripped me up the whole test, took me 3 sections to get my shit back together.LSpleaseee wrote:Hm, did you mess up a section that you're usually good at or something? Re: The Slightly More Official February 2011 LSAT Thread
I think that working through the LR Bible really is helping. I was skeptical at first because I got my ass handed to me last week when I tried to do a PT, but I worked through a LR section today and only missed two. I was missing anywhere between 4 and 8 before, so I'm optimistic. If I can go -2 on both LR sections, I stand a good chance at a 170+ score.
All in all, good LSAT day.
