Yeah, LSAC likes to steer clear of controversy. Very few passages on religion in general, although Christianity as a majority religion may play an incidental part in a passage. Almost nothing on current events...except for Australian uplift fees.
Even Central Asia is generally neglected, almost by association.

Re: Stuff the LSAT likes
From what I can remember, the LSAT RC questions hate using less than two words when describing emotions.
For example, if a question asks, "How does the author feel about ____?" Then the answers are not "unimpressed," "enthusiastic," "impartial," etc. Rather, they're "qualitatively unimpressed," "vaguely enthusiastic," and "arbitrarily impartial." God, how I hate those questions!

Bolded = +1000nStiver wrote: #1 DINOSAURS!!!! Easily the most popular theme on the LSAT. It also cuts across all 3 sections. There are reading comp passages, logical reasoning questions, and logic games devoted solely to dinosaurs#2 Minority artists/authors.
#3 High blood pressure, heart disease, and cholesterol.
Dinosaurs, how they went extinct (meteor or volcano!?!?). In every section.

Poetry (I cringe every time I come across one in LR) and aesthetic value of art in both RC and LR.

Wow, is that really in the RC bible? I have to commend powerscore on having the nuts to come out and say that. That sort of thing is really helpful. PS also says that historically every LR stimulus that begins with the word "advertisement:" contains faulty reasoning. That one piece of info has saved me much time over the months.PDaddy wrote:From Powerscore...and it's true. LSAT likes non-whites RC passage-wise. Any narrative with authorial position is going to be positive. Every time the LSAT asks what the author's tone is on a non-white object of discussion or opinion of that subjects work, look for the strongest positive answer. It will be correct 99.9% of the time. The test-makers do not want to be accused of racial intolerance.
The converse is true for white critics of non-white subjects...the authoral position will usually be critical of critics' positions or opinion, and will paint their opinions as short-sighted, limited, narrow, biased, unenlightened, etc.

The old passages about the internet are hilarious. I love the old RC passage that opens by describing the internet as "The World Wide Web".achilles wrote:smoking and its various correlations to health problems, and occasionally drinking

Re: Stuff the LSAT likes
One thing LSAT like is a female intellectual superiority. I've done every LR problem at least twice, and early on I realized that if a male and female are arguing, the male will respond with fallacious reasoning, or the female will respond by either correcting the male or qualifying his argument. As far as I could tell, this held true for every single LR problem.
p.s. Does anybody remember this question or did I dream it? "A pig has four legs and a spider has eight legs; therefore, a spider is twice as heavy as a pig. What is wrong with this argument?"

India was mentioned in an earlier PT, but the main topic there was explaining the extinction of dinosaurs.
The LSAT also likes dealing with speed limits, native Americans, and crime rates. Oh, one more thing. When you see a politician in LR, he or she probably errs somewhere.

The LSAT was also very concerned not only with good art but also the validity of art criticism.

Pretending that someone, somewhere actually might care about the writing section.
Oh, and bees.
I kind of feel like there should be a LG about the LSAC putting a test together. It would be wonderfully meta.
