Glad I found this site. I've spent the past week searching the boards and reading threads. I'm a little late to the game it appears. Just got the Trainer in the mail and plan on going through that. I work 50+ hours a week but I am creating a study plan to keep myself accountable. Looking forward to the challenge and shooting for a 180! Starting with the trainer and will supplement with the 'bibles' and 7Sage if necassary.

By no means are you late to the game.
In fact, I'd go as far to say that you don't even need to start studying till January.
I would start now though...
Monday I start on my Manhattan Books. I'm also going to get back on track with the lsatblogs 7 month program which I abandoned a few months ago.
Definitely invest in 7Sage and NOW. its worth it. You'll learn so much.
We must score high. We can't accept scores below 170. We must fight. We must work hard. You think this is hard. You think it's boring. You want to give up, but don't. Think of all the people in the military right now. Someone is getting shot at. Someone is trying to become a Navy Seal. Someone is running miles upon miles to only be told he's not fast enough. You must work hard. Be dedicated to something for just once in your life. This is for all the marbles. This is for your future. This is so that you may get into that school you never thought would accept you. FIGHT.

Checking in!
I've lurked for a while as I prepared for October. Tanked October and thought I could pull off December. I've decided to sit out a cycle and kill it in June. Looking for a 174 but 170+ wouldn't warrant a retake from me.
Prep Materials: Trainer, Manhattan LR and LG and Cambridge drill packets.
So far I've gotten LG down to -0/-1 but LR can fluctuate from -1 to -6 and RC is a disaster for me that needs focus. I'm working through the Trainer now and feeling better about LR, great book! I plan to drill and work steady until February and then start PTing again and hopefully not have material be too fresh. Leading up to October I didn't take studying serious enough and hopefully this time I will keep posting to be held accountable.
Look forward to having a reasonable amount of time to study and kill this thing!

Exact same. I majored in Philosophy for nothing! Went -9 and 14 minutes over on my first LR section. When is it all going to start making sense?jaylawyer09 wrote:well, LR is giving me trouble, but games are way easier for me.louierodriguez wrote:I've completely forgot how to do logic games.

In due time! Have you gone through the Trainer yet? The LR drills and lessons are made of pure gold. Also (and this goes without saying) drill that stuff into the ground. The patterns will become very apparent as you gain more exposure.famousblueraincoat wrote:Exact same. I majored in Philosophy for nothing! Went -9 and 14 minutes over on my first LR section. Also, update: Really getting along well with BPLG. I drilled a long set of ordering games last night and knocked them out of the park. The writers are also brilliantly witty. A very enjoyable read of what would otherwise be boring subject matter.

Re: The Official June 2014 Study Group
Everybody keeps talking about Blueprint. I'm not familiar with it at all.
I have Manhattan. I have 7sage. I have Cambridge everything.
Do I need blueprint?
Also.... I've been studying early in the morning.
As you guys may or may not know I'm in the Navy. I woke up at like 3am today, walked over to work, studied for about two hours, went to the gym, went to breakfast, went to back to work.
Waking up early has it's benefits.
It's good to seperate the study sessions. Study in the morning and then study in the afternoon as opposed to just one block of studying each day.
Are you guys familiar with the Topaz, Saphire, and Ruby Game off the top of your head? Shit is hard. It's from Preptest 33.
anyways... I'm glad to be actively involved with this forum once again. It really helps keep my focus where it needs to be.

Re: The Official June 2014 Study Group
I need to get better at waking up early. Right now, I tend to get up between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM. I'd like it if I could be in the habit of getting up closer to 5:30 AM. Days just seem so much more productive. Also, I'm thinking that my LSAT studying will need to occur predominately in the morning. It's just too easy to say "I'm not in the mood" if I wait until I get home from class in the afternoon.louierodriguez wrote: I woke up at like 3am today, walked over to work, studied for about two hours, went to the gym, went to breakfast, went to back to work.

Hey Louie!
Do you need BP? Maybe. Maybe not. Depends on you.
Here's an Emerson quote that Mike Kim sent me via PM when I asked him about BP:
"As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble."
All of the methods we use (PS, BP, 7Sage, MLSAT, the Trainer, etc.) provide us with different ways to grasp the very same underlying principles. There are many roads to 170+. They all require us to develop the same fundamental set of skills. If the methods you use are working for you, then there's no reason to look elsewhere.

jaylawyer,
nice. just don't allow yourself to lose that logic game skill set. it can perish easily.
anyways...
woke up around 1am this morning and walked over to where I work. Its about 5am now.
I got about 3 hours of 7sage in. I did some timed sufficient assumption questions. Didn't do too hot. 4/10. yikes
