Re: February 2012 Waiting Thread
Hi All,
first time poster, long time lurker - i finally decided to check in here with all of you!
i took the LSAT on Saturday. Quite honestly, i have absolutely no idea how i did. I feel like I could have gotten anywhere between a 160 and 170...which makes no sense, i know.
Generally, I thought LR was much harder than I anticipated. I typically do pretty well and spent the majority of my time drilling LR questions so I was a bit disappointed. Maybe it was simply test day nerves but I came out of the test feeling pretty insecure about my LR performance. I can think of four questions off of the top of my head that I know I did not answer correctly and another four that I am very unsure about.
I had two RC sections and I am happy to see that my experimental RC was infact the experimental. Neither section was particularly difficult but the experimental RC def. had some odd questions. All in all, I thought RC on this test was very tame. I usually go -5 to -7 on RC. It is usually my worst section but I think i did much better on this one..maybe even -1 to -3. I'm hoping my RC section made up for my (seemingly) dismal LR performance.
LG was fine...kinda freaked out on the first game. I think we have gotten used to seeing a first game that requires 4 minutes to complete. This 1st game def. required a bit more thought and seemed much more open ended. I skipped two questions on it that I came back to at the end and was able to figure out thankfully. All in all, it was okay. I guess it just seemed weird..there was no game that was particularly diffcult but there was no easy, two minute game either.
I've been prepping anywhere between a 164-168 with a low of a 162 (right before test day -- eeeek!) and a high of a 170. I'm really hoping for a 164 but I'm not so sure. It seems that my performance is usually contigent on the generosity of the curve (scale?).
andddd finally, if I had to guess the curve (which i am admittedly not too qualified to do), I'd say 11 or 12..could be a 10 if we're unlucky. It's probably not a -14 but it's certainly not a -9 either.
Hope you all get the score you want!

First time poster...etc,
I just want to say that the martian question didn't even make sense to me. I'm generally pretty good on LR (-0 to -3 per section in my prep), but I looked at that question for about 4-5 minutes total and couldn't do anything with it.
Congratulations to those who thought they got the correct answer. I wanted to rip the page out of the booklet.
All in all I felt like the games were moderately difficult, LR1 and RC were also moderate (I went LG-LR-RC-RC-LR), and LR2 was above average difficulty. I would guess the "curve" will be between -11 and -13.
I generally tested between 171 - 177, and right now I would believe you if you told me that I got anything from a 164 - 178. I really thought I would leave a little more confident in how I did.
Here's to hoping for a -14.

Re: February 2012 Waiting Thread
I have taken quite a few practice tests (not all of them, but I think around 40), so I should have some idea what the curve will be. I felt like LG was harder than most modern tests, and RC was definitely easier compared to modern tests (and about on par with older tests), I also felt like LR was on the easy side. That said, LG seems to carry the most weight when determining the curve, and I have a very hard time believing a test with a harder than average LG section would have a curve of -10 or below. I guess we will never know, but I am about 100% sure the curve on this test is -11 or -12. If I really had to settle on a number, I'd say -11.

Re: February 2012 Waiting Thread
I told myself that I wouldn't worry about when scores come out since this is my third time and it's only to get off the WL for 1 school.
It's been 3 days and I'm abandoning that strategy.
Scores. Now.

Thanks for getting the predictions started. We need something else so talk about now we have established what sections were real and such. Law schools love their 25/75 markers for LSAT so let's give those. What score do you think there is a 25 percent chance you get worse than, and which you think there is a 25 percent chance you got better than. And you can throw in your PT range so we can see what you thought the relative difficulty was. This way we can get to know each other's goals and expectations, and will be a much better group for waiting process support.rcthebigred1 wrote:First time poster...etc,

I'll got first. PT range was 170-179.
I think my 25/75 for this test will be 171/174.

Yeah I wouldn't be shocked with anything ranging from a 167 to maybe a 179. Idk, so much second guessing now that we are a couple days removed. Really, if you told me either of those scores I'd believe you, but I feel pretty decent that I'll be between 171-175. Anything less I'd be really disappointed.BuckinghamB wrote:PT: 168-176 (pretty wide i know)

I had that RC. Of course, the fact that i may or may not have been sitting behind you may have helped.bjokay wrote:did ANYONE have a Reading Comp passage about Chinua Achebe's book Things Fall Apart or a game with KGL? I took it in Guam and I am fairly confident that they gave me a completely different test than the rest of the nation.
I had two LGs, none of which matched anything anyone here has mentioned. I think it's fair to say the whole test, except maybe the writing prompt, was totally different.
I'd agree that the test was reasonable. One of the LGs was a bit tougher than the other, so I'm hoping it was the experimental, but even on that it was just one that really tripped me up.

I've already gone from a point where I'm convinced I got a 173+ to being certain I'm near 165ish haha...oh well, this isn't nearly as stressful as waiting for my June '11 score at least.

PT- 169-177
25/75- 171-175
Not so imaginative eh? I didn't think there was anything particularly unusual about this test. I remember I circled that martian question but ultimately settled on an answer (can't remember which one) but didn't stress too much over it in the end.
174+ and I will be crying with joy.

PT - 150-161
Feb Guess: 120-180.
Felt good on gameday, but now that the buzz of taking the test has wared off I'm not really sure about anything.

157-167 is where I've practiced at, with most scores being between 162-165.
If I had to guess, I'd say 162. Who knows though. I only got a 160 in December and I thought I killed that test.

Feb Score: Honestly, probably the same range, 166-174
I know I was -1 for LG, most comfortable I've ever felt with RC, LRI felt like normal, pacing was off for LRII so I had several that I wanted to double-check but didn't have time.
Seriously wouldn't be surprised by anything...

Re: February 2012 Waiting Thread
this is agonizing just sitting around waiting. Anyone feeling wierd waking up and not having the same routine of doing a quick 30 minute section for breakfast? I was stumped in writing my personal statement and did two logic games from test #7. Anyone notice any difference between the questions of old tests and the latest tests? I'm starting to wish I spent more time on the latest test problems, but didn't before because the older ones seemed harder for me. Owell.
On a side note, anyone ever have any problems with having their lor sent in by fax instead of slow (and i do mean SLOW) snail mail? LSAC says on their site and on the phone that they prefer snail mail because their might be issues with the image not being clear and the bar code might not scan if faxed. But from everything I've read on this forum and others, fax is way better because the wait time is almost non-existant (anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days). You also don't have to worry about the letters being lost by the geniuses in the post office. Sorry if this is probably the wrong place for this ? but I just got a random email from one of my old grad prof's who was wondering why I wasn't in school this semester. I explained why I was "no longer welcomed" and he called to chat and offered to submit a lor. I'm thinking this would be a major plus in addition to the addendum as to why there is a hold on my grad transcript.
By the way, I'm hoping for a +12 on the curve. Probably wishful thinking on my part though.

most def. should have worked. What good is the internship if you won't even be in school come fall since you can't afford it? I wrote some more about it, but got straight to the point and finished it all on the first page. I treated it as a strengthen or weaken question, just on a grander scale.FinallyGoing wrote:I perm'd.agcl0913 wrote:No way, no way.
