I missed my TM class on Wed and today (PT 2), because I've been recovering from surgery (donated part of an organ on Wednesday, so my health is fine, but recovery is a bee. Probs tmi, but whatevs; I don't know you guys). I haven't studied in like a week and am way behind on drilling/have only taken 2 PTs.
I'm thinking more and more I'll take February, but maybe I should still take Dec? I know that I won't be ready to meet my retake threshold by Dec, but maybe it would be good practice? Especially since most of the schools I'm looking at take the most recent score or take a holistic approach to viewing both as opposed to averaging. I'm also applying next cycle, so waiting won't hurt my chances at admission. I just don't think 40 days is enough to improve 10ish points. Thoughts?
TL;DR: Should I take Dec and Feb or just Feb?
I would advise against sitting for the test just for practice, especially since you have already taken it once, so you know how the whole process goes. While most schools do look at the most recent/highest score, I have heard from many admissions officers that they prefer to see fewer scores, it just looks cleaner and there is less explaining to do, whatever that counts for. This also leaves you open to 2 retakes, instead of 1 since you can only take the test 3 times in any 2 year period.
I am also planning to raise my score by 10 points and I think it can be done!! But since you planning to apply next cycle, maybe just wait until Feb?
