Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group - WAKE ME UP WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS
Anybody start working on apps already? I feel like I've started a bit late. Working on reaching out to professors for LORs and cleaning up my resume. Then next week begin brainstorming and writing my PS. How long should it take to write a good PS?

I was going to start now, but with the LSAT coming up I decided to push it to the waiting time. I already asked two of my recommender's for letters and they have confirmed. I have to email two more professors, one is in Turkey so I'm waiting for her to come back at the end of August before contacting her.StopLawying wrote:Anybody start working on apps already? Overall, I have an idea for my personal statement but it needs a lot of work considering I only have my opening (anecdotal story of experience) that I want to tie in to my path/interest towards law school. For my diversity statement, I wrote it a long time ago and I think it's great but might need to be edited. What I am mostly worried about is the personal statement and additional essays. Although, I'm not even thinking of it at this point, right now all my brain is thinking about is the LSAT.

I made hummus this morning. It was SO good. The only thing is I didn't have tahini so it wasn't that creamy.34iplaw wrote:Oh dayumnn. I have a venti skinny iced caramel macchiato en route.TheMikey wrote:Sipping on some homemade vanilla iced coffee![]()

Be jealous alex and iplaw
I am a little jealous. I need to stop spending so much at Starbucks. I am learning more about their snacks though.
The chickpea crisp things (Hippeas) are *delicious* but an absolute scam. I think they charge like $3-$4, and it's legitimately between eight and ten crisps. We all know how disappointing all bags of chips are, but this brought it to a whole new level.
The granola mix is actually pretty awesome though.
Chorizo egg sandwich - pretty good.
Chicken and BLT / Havarti sandwiches - OK in a pinch but pretty bad for a sandwich.

speaking of PS, if anyone wants to read mine, just shoot me a PM! I want some feedback. I used it last cycle and it definitely didn't hurt me and one admissions interviewer said they liked it, but if I can make any improvements, I would like to do that.

That's quite ominous. I feel like seeing that video prior to the LSAT is like inadvertently breaking a mirror after walking under a ladder in the presence of a black cat on Friday the 13th.Alexandros wrote:Unskippable Cooley youtube ads.

Feel free to PM me if you want some feedback. I slowed down on posting on the forums with feedback, but people seemed to appreciate it there. I stopped posting there, because I was getting too many PMd to me.proteinshake wrote:speaking of PS, if anyone wants to read mine, just shoot me a PM! I want some feedback. Oh - PS - everyone watch HRC's speech tonight. I bought $25 worth of 'yes'...if yes, I'll have enough winnings to buy an entire beverage at $SBUX.

I'm sure it's been discussed and I've just missed the discussion, but what analog watch are you going to be using for the test? The one I've been practicing with I've realized isn't going to cut it on test day. Whenever I push in the dial on the side after moving the arm back to the twelve o'clock position to start a new section, the arm moves a minute or two left or right so I can't be exactly sure what time I have left on the section. Anyone have a watch where the dial doesn't usually cause the arm to move a few minutes off when pushed back in place?

The wheel at the top is really easy to turn to the minute hand at the beginning of every section. Overall, a smooth watch that gets the job done.

I'm using a men's casio watch that comes with a stand. Overall I don't have a problem pushing the dial back to the twelve, but sometimes its off by a couple seconds (3-5).MAPP wrote:I'm sure it's been discussed and I've just missed the discussion, but what analog watch are you going to be using for the test? I like the watch because it's quiet and the numbers are bold. Some people on this thread have discussed a 180 watch they are using or considering.

Did you write your PS in a "Why X" style or is it more along the lines of a great story linking to your interest in law?proteinshake wrote:speaking of PS, if anyone wants to read mine, just shoot me a PM! Testmasters. I didn't care for the Blueprint instructor in my area. As weird as it sounds, I prefer the utilitarian approach of Testmasters. Something about Blueprint, at times, made me feel like I was studying for a much less serious exam. That said, I don't think one would go wrong with Blueprint if the humor and more lighthearted approach is better for them.amta wrote:curious. are you taking BP?34iplaw wrote:Neigh - por que?amta wrote:have you taken the LSAT yet?34iplaw wrote:

i took BP. really enjoyed the dark approach to the test. although, in hindsight, i think prep-classes are kind of a flame. still talk to my instructor a lot though. she's awesome.

I'd agree that they are probably overstated in efficacy...They force you to do work is the main benefit, IMO.amta wrote:i took BP. really enjoyed the dark approach to the test. although, in hindsight, i think prep-classes are kind of a flame. still talk to my instructor a lot though. she's awesome.
Testmasters, on average, assigns 100 LR questions, 100 RC questions, and 100 LG questions per class. If you're doing all or most of them and going over your work or what you missed, it is *a lot of time. Also, the fact that I paid $1500 makes me much more inclined to stay on schedule than be like, 'Oh... that sounds fun...I'll do more work next week.'

someone i know is paying big money for private tutoring.. i asked him what kind of stuff they do together and he basically just said that they make him drill sets and they talk about it after. i feel like it's kind of a waste since he can just drill on his own and do thorough reviews, although i'm sure his tutor has been SOME sort of help, i still think it's ehh.amta wrote:yeah thats what i tell people. you're paying $1400 for a babysitter.

im of the opinion that its definitely good to talk about things you may not fully understand, but log on to TLS and post in here or find a nice high-scorer locally to hang out with.TheMikey wrote:someone i know is paying big money for private tutoring.. i asked him what kind of stuff they do together and he basically just said that they make him drill sets and they talk about it after. i feel like it's kind of a waste since he can just drill on his own and do thorough reviews, although i'm sure his tutor has been SOME sort of help, i still think it's ehh.amta wrote:yeah thats what i tell people. you're paying $1400 for a babysitter.
