Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
Took PT62 over the weekend as a diagnostic.
RC: -7
LR1: -9
LG: -13
LR2: -5
157. That hurt.
I took the test under strict timing and basically my entire process just went out the window under the time pressure. The only section I finished was RC and I was pressed for time on the last passage. The games section kicked my ass because I haven't done a logic game in 3 years. I don't know which questions I got wrong because I haven't reviewed yet. I'm going to do my review over the next two days and then move on in the trainer.

I guess curves can be that drastic

Yeah if I remember correctly from the last time I studied the curve for a 160 varies fairly significantly and the curve for a 170 is much tighter.MAPP wrote: Wow so -34 on PT62 was a 157 and -25 was a 158 on June 07

For anyone looking for a good baseline book, I just really want to advocate the LSAT trainer real quick. I know it is done ad nauseum on this site, but I've gotten a whole mess of quick responses for relatively specific questions / verification of my work that went ahead of where the book was.
MK is insanely available and accessible both here and on his books website. If you're using the trainer and have any questions, definitely reach out on one of the two locations.

Drilled PPT 58 RC.
Finished in 33:40 but missed 5 questions.
The enraging part is I missed two of them due to misreads on questions stems.

Drilled PT 59 RC - finished in 32:17.
Missed 5 - all but 1 were questions I wasn't too sure about, so I can deal with this.

Just dropped $1700 on a Blueprint campus course, with Spencer Robins (179). All my research kept leading me back to him as the best teacher in town. We'll see I guess. Crossing fingers.

Overall, I liked the feel of the Testmasters class more, but I enjoyed the Blueprint as well. In the end, I think it boils down to the instructor, class size, and who is in the class more than the actual provider.
Cheers! I may end up in one still...still waiting to see who the NYC testmasters dudes/dudettes are...and not really wanting to enroll in a class of 40 people.
OH PS I think there's a $100 coupon code. Did you use that? IF not, see if they'll give you the $100 yo.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
Just finished going through the PS LG bible. Gonna start doing the rechallenge sections timed starting tomorrow and really tighten my LG performance. After I finish that I'll just keep working on games until I'm -1 or -0 over four games hopefully.
What do you guys find works best for practicing games? Do you guys just drill LG sections from PTs or by single game type?

Thanks! I did get a hold of that coupon. For anyone else interested, the code is SAVE100 at checkout, it's a hundred bucks off. No, I didn't audit it first, hopefully I dont regret that. But I did some pretty thorough research and actually talked to a couple L1's who attended his course and loved it. Yelp was also really helpful, and there's some objective rankings online as well.34iplaw wrote:
Good luck! Did you sit in on a class prior to enrolling? If so, you may want to sit in on one before it starts! They're really accommodating that way.

I don't know, we'll see I guess. I do however love what I'm seeing so far. Once I enrolled I got instant access to all their online materials, which is extensive and already helping me prepare. Endless videos, tutorials, drills, and schedules. It's pretty extensive.
I tried LSAT Trainer for a few weeks and realized I just couldn't focus on my own. I'm one of those guys who is wired for course instruction more than self study. Glad I figured that out early.

Re: The Official September 2016 Study Group
Anyone doing work on LR? I just finished the first LR section of the Trainer and I have missed about 3 out of the 20 or so questions in the book so far. Haven't done the diagnostic yet, however. Small sample size and all that.
The Trainer really drills hard on flaws I am doing pretty well identifying whats wrong with arguments. The common thread of misses seems to be misinterpreting/misapplying answers. Basically, I read the answers and sometimes just whiff on its application to the stimulus. Anyone having similar experiences?
