In the past, I have tested around 95-98 percentile in the standardized exams including the GRE. I am going to believe in myself and kill this test come the 11th of Feb.

I know my preparation has been different than others, but, I know what works for me. I have always focused on understanding and mastering the concepts until the last few days, and it is only in the last couple weeks that I have taken the PTs. I know that 30 PTs in 30 days will cover me for the LSAT as far as the exam behavior is concerned, and I know that in five more days I will be able to get to the point where my techniques will be fully in place.

Will keep everyone posted.

Will get it done!
I am sure you know what you can handle better than anyone but I would be careful on doing a PT a day. It could lead quickly to burnout.

I can handle it, no problem! Desperate times, desperate measures!
Have to second the burnout warning. A practice test every other day will benefit you as much as one a day. You should spend the off day going over the mistakes from the previous day's test.

I think even that is too much but it's up to you. If you start to notice your RC or LR scores slipping burnout is likely the cause.

On a personal note- took my first practice test since the real thing last June.

LR -0
RC -8
LG -1
LR -2

I blame the -8 on rust. Although last study cycle my RC scores went from -2 or 3 to -5 or 6 thanks to burnout (I think). Hopefully the bad habits I picked up can be fixed in the next month.

I do appreciate the concern! But, fellows! Burnout is an unavoidable part of every great preparation! If you are not burning out few times along the way, you are not exerting enough. That is atleast how I have always felt. See, I spent the first 24 years of my life in another country, so maybe for that reason I prepare differently. I have always found myself burning out few times, but, when it happens, my brain forces me to rest and then, I am fine again! Also, the last month is the REAL preparation for me, the time before is about setting the last month up!

the last couple days, I have been burnt out!

Is anyone else panicking at the thought of only thirty more days to get to the score you want?
30 days is probably enough time if you drill LG continuously. How're you on LR and RC?

You can do a LOT in thirty days! And trust me, as soon as you let that "postpone" voice creep in your head, you're at risk for not giving it your all. No talk of June in here - it's the February study group!

CRS is a yes if you plan on applying to law school.

[quote="swordsman1"]35 days to go! I am not as far along in my preparation as I would have hoped. But, I think I have still successfully set myself up for a final assault on this test. I am going to further increase my understanding of how the answering works for this test over the next 5 days, and then with 30 days to go, do one prep test a day.

I am taking the 30 days, 30 tests approach as well. Just finishing up now with Powerscore -- Jon Denning rocks!

Welcome aboard! 30 in 30 indeed! I know this a difficult exam, but, for what it counts, I took 2-3 PTs a day while preparing for the GRE all those years ago. There is no set way of preparing! If you have prepared for big exams in the past, just draw lessons from that in terms of what will work!

Oops, sorry I thought you said "CAS" not "CRS", but now I think you meant "CAS" as well since you are talking about sending your stuff to law schools. CRS is useful because it's how you get fee waivers. It's a free service, but it only works after you buy your CAS. You absolutely have to buy CAS. That's the fee you pay for LSAC to send your info to schools electronically. You can't send letters of rec, transcripts, etc etc to schools yourself.

Indeed!

I just nailed the GRE three weeks ago, something which gives me confidence -- from a quantitative IQ comparison standpoint -- that I can nail the LSAT as well. I did not however, take more than one GRE PT in a day, although I would have only benefited in the case that I had. The GRE is undeniably longer since its recent modification.

What I learned in my studies last evening was that in method of reasoning questions, the correct answer choice will often use ambiguous language describing the method, whereas the incorrect choices will often start by using something directly from the stimulus in an attempt to catch the lazy reader off guard.

Best,
LSATD

Haha yeah surfing on subpar equipment on the margins of the civilized world is great. I was in Budapest a few days ago and they replaced all of the Z's with Y's and other fun tricks, and their internet cafes seem to emulate the city's famous steamy Turkish Baths--sweaty and packed to the gills with red-faced hairy men. Imagine writing several important e-mails under those conditions. But nothing--NOTHING--compares to Riddled Basins. Or Snakes and Lizards. Or Two Teams of Jugglers. So actually I kept my cool, haha. Thanks LSAT!!

Gisney wrote:So I took pt 59 and it was not that great but not as bad as I thought it might be with my over a week break for the holidays

Breakdown:

PT 59

LG: -1
LR1: -4 :? Seeing as I have not even looked at LR in a long time I am not too upset. I will be if it continues
LR2: -2
RC: -7

Raw: 87
Scaled: 170
Generous curve

Not really suprised my the RC. It was a shitshow from the begining. My pacing was waaayyy off and then I got distracted by the light sculpture section because I was an art history major and I found it interesting. Moral of the story is LSAT is no time to learn new things. Remember the topics and look them up later. Anyway by the time I got to the last part I only had 5min left to read and answer the questions and I missed 4 of them.

I am hoping LR is just because I have not practiced in a long time. If it continues it is back to drilling for me.
Although I was able to see where some of you talked about how wording is more specific in the newer tests.

LG. I cannot seem to prevent myself from making one mistake every test. If I could get this to a -0 that would really help if on test day I am thrown some hard ass RC.

How is everyone else doing? Eich? Outlook?

Hey guys. So I just read the thread up until here, and here is me catching-up: I have decided to postpone. I made this choice pretty much right after I logged that 174 on PT48. I'm just not hitting the scores I want. So I'm going to take it in June and I expect to wreck it... I'm talking high 170s here, maybe even a 180. That's my shit. I hear what some of you guys are saying about the 'postpone' bug and sapping confidence, but I started studying last August thinking that I would take it in October. TLS1776 (my idol) says that if you CAN wait, you should... I can, and so I will. I will still check in with you guys and shoot my encouragement, questions, and advice from the sidelines, though!

The backstory here is that I just got back from traveling for a couple weeks and I feel really loose and relaxed. I know that I can smash this test in the face, but its not going to happen without catching up on a few things. LR has gotten a lot better for me, and I think I'll eventually get that down to -1 or or so total (I am starting to see each Q. like a little Logic Game... which is good for me). LG should hover around -1 or -0 (I love them). I see RC moving to a -0, now that I will finally give it the attention it deserves. I have already put more than 4 months or so into this, and I'm not afraid to double that to get the score I want.

It has been really great learning from you guys and, secretly, competing. Without this forum I would have lost interest in this test months ago, haha. You're all great--crush this test!!!!!

Wait...so because you got a 174 on a PT youre postponing...because you want to score in the high 170s? Maybe I'm having a RC fail because I'm on my phone but that doesn't make a ton of sense to me. :?

TIMERS!

What is everyone using for a silent timer? Currently I'm just using my phone as a timer, however I know during the exam anything digital is forbidden. My watch ticks so I'm going to seek out something different. Any tips? Suggestions?

Hi Everyone. I took the LSAT in Dec and was not real pleased with the results. Hoping to do much better this time around. I found TLS after taking the test and wished that I had found it sooner. Just wanted to come out and say "hi".

Well yeah the 174 was good and all but it's not like what I thought I would be doing by X-Mas time, you know??? I just thought I would already be PTing in the upper 170s by now, and that has not happened, not even once, so I'm thinking I don't have the momentum that I want. I just kept on thinking "alright THIS time I'm gonna hit 178 or something like that." But that never happened, and I still know that I absolutely can hit that... So I'm gonna hold back and get to where I really want--that place where I can say "I tried my hardest." You know? I am one of those guys that spends a lot of time regretting shit (such as not working harder, not paying attention to this or that warning sign, etc.)--here with the LSAT I have a unique opportunity to give it everything I've got. Maybe for one of the few times in my life I will actually try really fucking hard to achieve a goal, and that excites me and makes me proud. That's probably the biggest reason I am waiting. Everybody's got their reasons, and this is mine.

All the best Eich and everyone else putting in this champion effort for February 2012!!! I'll be following along with you till the bitter end----of the waiting thread. Kick ass.

This is exactly why I pushed the test back - twice. I definitely understand. But at least now I can say that I really have tried my hardest (or at least I hope I can say so by test day). I'm sure that I could possibly do more, but in any case, I am so damn sick of this test by now that I want it to be over! I sadly have not been hitting 175+ like I wanted and thought I would be getting by now. This test makes me feel dumb. Good luck to you, and with you scoring the way you are now, Im sure you'll make it to 175+! I'm jealous.

PS - I hope, hope, hope that I will be too busy backpacking, hanging out with friends, and having movie marathons to think about the wait thread and the wait for my score! *Wishful thinkinggg*

Oh and flu update: My mom now has it too and basically said "I've touched everything in the house, and this is the worst flu I've ever had. Study while you can."

I'm so worried.

Oh and flu update: My mom now has it too and basically said "I've touched everything in the house, and this is the worst flu I've ever had. Study while you can."

I'm so worried.
:)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
