Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I'm still working on accuracy, but it's hard not to take a PT just to get a gauge of my improvement (or lack thereof?)...

i'm hiding out in the safety of "accuracy", honestly i'm just scared to take a PT after my dismal june scores (8 below my average PT
) My best is LG but has anyone taken PT 10 LG yet? I have a question about #14 because either i'm retarded or LSAC is...

That's a hard question. It's D because 1. The words have to be written in alphabetical order. 2. At most three of the five words begin with the same letter as one another.lastch2 wrote:i'm hiding out in the safety of "accuracy", honestly i'm just scared to take a PT after my dismal june scores (8 below my average PT) My best is LG but has anyone taken PT 10 LG yet? So, the last letter the first word can start with is Y. Then it could be: YYYZZ

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
So I scored a 165 for the first time today. I am super pumped. I know there are scoring gyrations between these Preptests, but for someone that started out scoring in the 140s, it is a heck of an improvement.
I was initially aiming for a 165, but I think I'll revise my goals to a 170.

Collect as many as possible - it really depends on how much work you're willing to do. The most recent ones are the most relevant, so get as many of those as possible.Norlan wrote:hey i want to ask how many and which PT's should I collect to study for Oct 2010?

Btw, only the ones after PT38 retail for $8/exam. However, you can get them for $6/exam if you buy in multiples of 4 on Amazon. (They're sold at 4 for the price of 3.)
Most of the other PrepTests are sold as books of 10 exams for $20 on Amazon.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I did my first real preptest today (last test in Superprep) and got a 160. I've been studying for about 5 weeks.
LG: - 15
LR: -3
LR: -4
RC: -7
On both of the LR's and the RC I finished with at least 3 minutes to spare, but on the LG I only finished 2 of the games. I'm usually accurate on the games just slow as hell. LR and RC seem to come pretty naturally for me. Hopefully I can get a lot better at the games before October.

Questions for those who have been through it. Should I be worried if I'm only scoring 163-165 after a month of studying if my goal is 172?

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I am just doing sections of the same type of questions for LR . ( I made copies, and after organizing them by question type I randomly pick 26 questions and do them) I do 2 sections of these a night ( similar question types- ex. stregnthen and weaken ) I find that this helps me fine tune my approach for each question type. I also do about 2-4 lg games. I haven't been keeppoing score, since they are all the same type of question.
I did a few RC passages from old tests- but want to focus my attention on LR and LG ( my two worst parts)
IS it okay to start doing full length Pts around mid august? Will that give me enough time to work up endurance? Also, how many tests does it take to determine where you will fall score wise?

yes. i would suggest doing around 2 PTs a week with thorough review.
Will that give me enough time to work up endurance?
yes it will. if you do 2 PTs a week you will have done more than 15 five section PTs.
Also, how many tests does it take to determine where you will fall score wise?
it depends but i think 15+ PTs would suffice.
the key is not to see how many PTs you can do. its more about doing a PT under real conditions and going over them thoroughly. good luck.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Am I the only one who's reached a point where they just don't want to study for this thing anymore? Like, I'm getting slower and my mind isn't clicking when it was just last week. I don't maybe the urgency isn't there and because now I know what to do where the first time I was just learning everything. I'm going to take a PT sometime this week and see what I get. I'm pretty sure whatever I get on that will let me know where I'm at. I'm even writing slower on the games...I might have to chill and restart in August. I mean I dedicated so much time to June's exam.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I can tell that the LSAT has officially consumed my life. Today while eating lunch I was thinking of ways that I can undermine everyone else taking the test at my location. My plan is to change the arrow pointing to the parking lot on exam day to a double-not arrow.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
I'm joining this topic!
Started my prep about two and a half weeks ago. First score 142, second 157, third 160, fourth 169, fifth 166, sixth 164. I'm going to start doing more drilling and less preptests since my weakness is clearly logic games, where if I get all 4 I'm confident I could get 170+, but if I do poorly on one or two I'm in the mid-60s or lower. The fact that my roommates tend to blare loud music all the time is making this difficult.
The Logic Games Bible is in the mail along with "The Next 10" and 4 of the most recent preptests.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Just now joining the convo too. Nice progress, Hannibal! I'm working hard to see similar results. First test I scored a whopping 143, second 155, and now I'm just focusing on basic concepts, ie: diagramming different types of games and how to extract the key info on RC.
For me, a major problem is focusing for so long. Of course, I can sit in a classroom for 3-4 hours no problem, but concentrating this hard for back to back sections of the test really takes a toll on me mentally and physically. After the 3rd section, my head hurts and that's about the time I start starring off into space.
It's the wooorst.
Anyway, I'll continue to post any progress I see as I go through my prep course.

Good luck, Bobby. The more I study the more I feel like you CAN be bulletproof on the LSAT once you see enough questions to see the puppet strings. At least I hope so.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
June 2010 re-taker here.
After scoring a pathetic 161 in June - back in the saddle and trying to up my score. Been reading through LRB and LGB and doing Kaplan Mastery, etc. RC and LR (Strength, Assumption, and MBT) are weakest areas that I need to improve on.
First two PT's:
7 - 165
19 - 165
Back up into my average before the June 2010 LSAT. Hoping to be hitting the 170+ range before Oct this time. Otherwise the 165-170 range might be hard to hit on the real test. My score always seems to go down a bit on the real thing.
Also, as a way to track my progress, I'm keeping a study log on my computer.

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Started working with my LGB today. Who here has both the LGB and LRB (I imagine quite a few people)? Is it worth it to buy the LRB as well?
All this diagramming is tiring, I have to say. By the tenth time I had to diagram a question, my mind was slowing down. Good practice for endurance, though.

I've been getting so lazy lately...I was supposed to study last night but I ended up watching tv for 6 hours. Doesn't help that I work for our family business from around 7-8AM to around 6-7PM. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

Bro, you can do it even if your busy. I am in class or at work everyday from 9-6 and I find time to work out and get 20+ hours in of studying. Just get away from all the distractions and crack down.Jim Halpert wrote:Oct '10 crew:

Re: October 2010 Test Prep
Agreed. Set some time for yourself as a reward for studying if that is what it takes to get you motivated, though I would suggest you do some reflection, if you are trying to motivate yourself on a week by week or day by day basis I think it is a good idea to write and reflect on why you are doing what you are doing and why it is important to you. It can help you to verbalize why you are doing what you are doing more clearly and create a more distinct picture of why you are actually doing this is the first place (potential drawback: you find out you don't want to do this...but you should do it anyways, you're already ballz deep)Patriot1208 wrote:Bro, you can do it even if your busy.
