I don't know they can find it to difficult to regulate the temperature. And I think it's really cruel that this is such a consistent problem. Test takers are emotionally unnerved enough without having to be in physical discomfort as well. And, UGHHH, that girl. Seriously, they should make it a rule that you can only leave between sections. That would totally rattle me.Shakawkaw wrote:I saw no black ticon's, sadly. I DID, however, see tricons. But meh. It was in the same room we were in. Trip to the sauna, indeed. First it was cold af. Then it got really hot because they closed the doors. It was terrible. Never again.sfoglia wrote:OMG it would be so fun to have an LSAT friend to warm up with and chat and whatever before sitting.
What happened this time? Another unexpected trip to the sauna? Do tell.
Also one girl got up and left 30 seconds into the first section. That definitely got to me when it shouldn't have.
I think I'm going to take it in Queens, since the commute won't be so terrible given that it's an afternoon test in June.
How is your prep coming along, fogs? Have you just started up?
I have been studying but not seriously, a few sections of LG every week, maybe one LR every other. I did do a PT three weeks ago. And one yesterday, of course. My scores are consistent with September, which is great but also pretty fucking annoying. I feel like September just got so screwed by that LR, and all of us scored a solid 5 less than our average PTs.
I plan to study more regularly now, probably four or five days a week, at hopefully a PT on both Saturday and Sunday. I think maybe I need to try for a 180. Seriously, -1 only on one LR, and -0 otherwise. It's the only way to make this the least bit novel.
I signed up for Pace. And I think Fulton station's shiny newness might be a good start, kinetic energy and all.

Yeah, I'm 80% on you getting lost in those needlessly complex clauses that they insert in effort to distract you. I think that it's relatively easy to read without catching the necessary meaning of a sentence, the true meaning requiring that words do indeed signify to some degree in isolation, which is something that almost all contemporary critics would debate after the emergence of such figures as Jean Albindo and André Roberto Paeul in the late twentieth century, given that LSAC deliberately complicates sentence structure to confuse you. See what I mean? If you can't pick out the most important part of that sentence with near effortlessness, RC is going to prove difficult.gamerish wrote:I second the Trainer recommendation for you, zac.sfoglia wrote:
Have you tried Manhattan RC or The Trainer? I found those two helpful.
Re: trouble understanding passages, is it the dense writing? Technical vocabulary? Do you fair better on humanities vs. law or science? Any better with comparative passages?
One of the things he really emphasizes in RC is that you really don't need to understand the technical aspects passage. As long as you can pull out the main point(s) (which usually have a pretty standard set of syntactical context clues to help point them out if you really aren't getting the subject material) and the support/opposition (which becomes much easier once you've figured out the conclusion).
Mike advises against it in the Trainer, but for people who get really bogged down by details or the sheer amount of information presented in RC, it may be really helpful to do a super quick zoom through the questions before reading the passage. Disregard any questions that have to do with general knowledge of the passage (main points questions, general author's opinion, etc) and find the questions that regard specific things in the passage ("The indian tribe in the second paragraph is mentioned because..."). That'll (hopefully) help you put on some blinders while reading the passage because you know what to look out for. It may not work for everyone but I recommend giving it a shot to see if it helps.
That paragraph meant nothing by the way.

Between grey day (Oct. 20?) and December 6th, I retook all PTs from 52 - 73, in addition to drilling 1-38 over again and doing LG and RC sections from 39-51. It was an absurd amount of work, but it clearly made a difference.sfoglia wrote: ALSO REAL LSAT PREP QUESTION: For high-scoring re-takers (GT GT GT GT![]()

), did you repeat PTs that you had done earlier? (Like I have a handful from when I first started studying in June that I may not remember much of.) Because I have exactly three full PTs left, including 74. That's it. Not sure how to PT...
I could only PT on weekends, so to cover the material, I did all PTs as 8 section back-to-back tests on consecutive days (Sat/Sun). So four tests every weekend. I reviewed and drilled during the week.
For my last 18 PTs (all retakes), my average was 177.3. So I scored my average. It didn't matter that I had seen the tests before.

GT I CANNOT. Were you scoring in the upper 170s before September and/or how much did your score improve over the course of studying? We can confer re: scores over PM if you prefer.GreenTee wrote:Between grey day (Oct. 20?) and December 6th, I retook all PTs from 52 - 73, in addition to drilling 1-38 over again and doing LG and RC sections from 39-51. Also what do you think was the most productive, since I only have thirty some-odd days for this? I feel like my nerves are the culprit so probably PTing a million times might help.

Yeah, obviously it sucks. But think about what that score will mean! I don't regret any second I spent on LSAT prep.sfoglia wrote: GT I CANNOT. I wasn't in the high 170s before September. My average was a little over 171. After the waiting period (when I did exactly nothing except drink beer and eat pizza), my scores shot up to the 178-180 range pretty consistently. I only had a few 173s sprinkled in towards the end of November, when I was beginning to feel a little burnt out.

Sfogs I think the takeaway here is if you want upper 170s you should probably drill shaq.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
