Re: The Official September 2014 Study Group
Did LSAT 39 yesterday. I got a 166, but there were about 5 questions I got wrong from simply being careless and misreading the question. I need to take tests not so early in the morning (ie, not start before 6:00 AM).

Hey, good job on the test. I was wondering what you did for reading comp, IE: how did you drill for it? I'm in the same position, geting like -9, would like to cut that down quite a bit.boris09 wrote:Sorry for the slightly more on-topic post, but:
PT 57
LG: 22/23 (so i finally experienced the infamous muave dino game. If i hadn't made the quick decision to finish the last game before i began the dino game, i may not have had time to finish. Needed almost 15 minutes to do it, with one question being a plug and chug)
LR1: 19/26 (sigh lol)
LR2: 21/25 (not bad, i can deal)
RC: 21/27 (i suppose i can deal too)
165. (83/101)
Thoughts: quite happy with the logic games, as it seems to be fairly consistent now. For some reason i still haven't gotten a perfect LG score though! It's almost as if i have to get one easy question wrong. In terms of the RC, given that my average was -9 to -11 about three weeks ago, i'm really happy to be down to a -6. To be honest, i think i can get my target score as long as i don't do any worse than -7 in this section. Now, on to the LR. A few weeks ago i was at a point where i had never gotten under -5 for an LR section. However, as i've began doing full preptests, i've noticed myself doing better than i ever had before, averaging -2 to -4. This, of course, comes with a sacrifice. While I have been doing better than i ever have before on an individual-section basis, on the other LR section of the test i do much, much worse. I understand that the LSAT balances the test by making one section a bit tougher sometimes, but i really hope i can just fix this inconsistency issue, and get at least 2 or 3 right on the section i do worse in. With only 4 more points i could have gotten my goal score. Haven't had the chance to do intense studying for the past few days until today, but i'm really hoping that i can go into overdrive mode and get these last few points in crunch time

I just felt it at the time. Lesson learned though.

anyone else at the point where they kinda itch to do the next PT but know they have to drill accordingly to weaknesses and review for a while to make the next one worthwhile? Feels bad man.

I'm the same way. Aside from yesterday, every PT I've taken has been 7am or before. Go figure that yesterday I take my test at 11 and do the best on it so far....

GPA is more important. He also said that Canadians who take the LSAT can get in the best Canadian schools with a score in the 150s. Since you are, I"m assuming, focused on the LSAT, are you trying to get into an American law school?
My understanding is that because our volume of applications is much lower, the admissions process is significantly more holistic - at our top law school (University of Toronto) rumour has it that the personal statement is worth 30% of the decision.
I suppose a high enough LSAT might be enough to impress them, since I have been out of school for a while, but I have very little interest in working in Toronto. I wouldn't mind Ottawa, but when you compare that to the kind of work you can do in DC or NYC, the choice is easy.

Yes! I promised myself I'd get through my shiny new Cambridge Strengthen, Weaken, and Parallel Reasoning packets this week, but I can't wait to PT this upcoming weekend.flash21 wrote:anyone else at the point where they kinda itch to do the next PT but know they have to drill accordingly to weaknesses and review for a while to make the next one worthwhile? Re: The Official September 2014 Study Group
So I did my first PT yesterday. Had major timing issues, and that's going to be my main obstacle, I fear.
PT 28
LG: -1 (was a particularly easy LG section)
LR: -24 (15 of which were because I ran out of time)
RC: -12 (8 of which were because I ran out of time)
Score: 156
So completing the LR and RC sections after time, I went:
LG: -1
LR: -9
RC: -4
Score: 169
...
Did a (very) thorough blind review of every question -- which took upwards of 5x as long to do than to write the test itself.
I'm not married to the idea of taking Sept exam. I'm aware that I'm way behind schedule. It'd just be far more convenient, time-wise. I'll be dedicating 10-12 hr days for the next 10 days to see if I can make tangible improvements and then make my decision on writing in Sept, or going with Dec instead.

I just want to have time to cook a nice healthy breakfast, go have morning coffee with the husband, do a few warm up LGs and actually be awake for the exam.
Before I took December 13', I started waking up at 5:30am everyday for 3 weeks prior to the test. I walked, ate a nice breakfast, did a little prep, and headed over to the test feeling like a million bucks. Everyone else looked like they just rolled out of bed. I honestly attribute my performance last time to making those minor adjustments. Andddddd the fact that I somehow perform really well under pressure. BUT BESIDES THAT IT WAS THE WAKING UP EARLY
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
