Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
just got the manhattan reading comp book, hoping it'll help. I get -6 on RC on a good day. typically -8 to -11 on that section alone lol.
I'm thinking I can get to the high 160's if I can manage my RC scores.. I miss -2 to -6 per lr section and usually around -4 to -5 on games although I definately bomb games occasionally . I'm beginning to realize I need to just move on sometimes from games, I get stuck and just want to complete the game to the detriment of the rest of the section

I completely forgot that sampling was an option. Thank you!chicharon wrote:I have it. Works for me because I read a lot of ebooks and I have the Kindle, Kindle app on everything, etc. but like what was said above you could try the ebook sample first.tedofsandimas wrote:Has anyone purchased the Kindle version of the Logic Games Bible? Do you have trouble using it or wish you had purchased it as paperback? I know it's the same cost as the paperback, but I like not having to carry physical books with me.

If anyone is interested in creating a weekly study group, we can make a TinyChat group and go over predetermined questions with each other, then build up to reviewing preptests.

Someone made a group on Slack. We're doing PT 36 and going over it Tuesday or Wednesday. If you or anyone is interested

Sure! I've never used Slack before. Do you have to be invited to join a group?dea1990 wrote:Someone made a group on Slack. We're doing PT 36 and going over it Tuesday or Wednesday. If you or anyone is interested

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Took PT 35 today. First PT since my diagnostic about a month ago, since i've been procrastinating pretty heavily. Timed, but did not add in an additional section.
LR: -12 combined (-5 and -7)
RC: -2
LG: -4
Score: 165
Pretty obvious where I need to improve the most, I tend to overthink LR questions and give myself a headache thinking in circles. I am halfway through The LSAT Trainer, and I think I will skim through the rest and focus on Manhattan's LR guide. For LG, I rushed through the first two games and made some pretty dumb mistakes. Will definitely drill tomorrow, with an emphasis on LR.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I'm doing the whole Grouping Games packet today, and so far it's going well. I'm consistently hitting -0 within the recommended (7sage) time limit. Did the books on shelves game and didn't think it was bad at all. The CDs In/Out game is by far the game I hate the most. It's not that it's hard, but that it has a lot of moving parts and more complex conditional rules.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Hey guys!
Longtime lurker here. I also creeped the 2015 LSAT board hardcore, so I'm excited to see a few familiar names on here.
I took the February LSAT and got a 160. I used the LG Bible to study, as well as the 7Sage program. I'm retaking in October to hopefully improve my score and I'm using the LSAT Trainer and the LG Bible as a review. I
I loved 7Sage, but now that they lost the rights to the PDFs it's honestly not as useful/convenient a tool. Luckily I printed out a lot the content (pre-tests and such) before they had to take it down. The videos are useful, but there's only so many videos you can watch JY breaking down the finer points of logic. Not to mention some of hose videos made me feel like a total idiot if I was struggling with the problem/game that the instructor expects a "prepared" student to solve in 4 minutes without error. But all in all, I did like it. Especially as an introduction to the mindset you have to have to successfully tackle logic problems.
I found the Bible to be really helpful for learning how to diagram and to both extrapolate and understand rules. I'm only a couple of hundred pages into the Trainer and his book seems to tackle the games in a different (maybe more comprehensive?) style. I like it, but I can see the differences. Guess I'll see in October if it is useful for me.
The biggest change I'm doing in my study regiment this time, however, is the amount of pre-tests I'm taking. Last time, I took a lot of sample sections but I wasn't very strict with time and I only did probably two or three full, timed tests. From what I hear, just taking pre-tests over and over is the best thing you can do to improve your score. (If not totally murder your soul...)
I hope everyone here can somewhat enjoy the summer. Right now I'm holed up in an old library with no AC reviewing conditional rules. I'd 100% rather be drinking sangria on a roof deck right now. Hopefully this pays off!!
Good luck to everyone! I'm excited to check out everybody's study plans/commiserate over LSAT woes.

Diagnostic of 156 using PT 35. Not my first time taking an LSAT practice test, but definitely the first time in years. I'm looking forward to putting the work in and seeing results. Good luck, all!

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Hey everyone, first post. I'm not really a long time lurker, but I did go through the forums a few times about a year ago, and it made me more nervous about taking the LSAT because of how long people were studying for the LSAT. I didn't want to sacrifice time to study for the LSAT while I was still in undergrad because I wanted to focus on my classes to keep my GPA high, so I didn't take the LSAT at all last year. I regret this all time because I feel like I'm wasting a year of my life now.
Anyways, I've decided to dedicate my summer to study for the Oct LSAT, but I'm not 100% sure on how to prepare for it. I bought PTs 52-71, and that's all I got. I did a timed diagnostic with PT 52 and scored a 156. I'm not too happy about it because I want to at least score a 165 (170 would be perfect) on the Oct LSAT, but 9 points isn't too much of a gap.
So, what kind of materials should I buy to improve myself? I've read that the powerscore bibles are pretty good, but I see that the Manhattan books are great as well. Is one better than the other? Also, what are the Cambridge packets, and should I buy them? Is there anything else I should consider?
Oh, and if it matters, I had more trouble with the logical reasoning sections than the games and RC.
Any advice would be appreciated.

What practice test or guides are good for preparing?

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the consensus is that the Powerscore Bibles are reliable classics, but the Manhattan and the Cambridge packets are very popular now (2015). Personally, I will be using Pithypike's guide that appears on this site. Since the Kaplan Orange Book is not an option anymore, I'm only using the Powerscore Bibles as guides and then just working the PTs. I'll let you all know on how it goes.Kablasia wrote:Hey everyone, first post. Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Materials to use:
Powerscore LGB
Manhattan LR
Manhattan RC
Cambridge by question packets
PTs 39-74 + Superprep A, B, and C
7Sage LG videos
Work through the guides during June. Whenever you cover a certain question type, do the drills in the book and drill an additional 20-30 questions for LR, 5-7 games for LG to better grasp what you just learned. When you are finished with the guides DRILL (untimed for LR, 7Sage Fool Proof Method for LG). Take a PT every weekend or so to gauge progress and your weaknesses. Then by mid August ramp up the PTing to 2-3 a week with full blind review. Still be drilling to work on weaknesses during this stage. Be aware of burn out and take a day off if needed.
This is what I would recommend, with some timed sections thrown in there as well.
