BR'd some LG before work and taking 49 after work today.

I need it to get the bad taste of 48 out of my mouth.

I have a specific question with regards to LG, and I'm hoping you guys can help me out. My question is specifically about 15.4.LG1 (Q#6). I got stuck on this question, and spent way too much time trying to figure it out. 7sage recommends "brute-forcing" your way through the problem (basically plug-and-chug with the answer choices). Is there any alternative way that you recommend to solve this problem quickly/efficiently? It seems that there are a number of LG questions that come up that require brute force (although fortunately, not that often...). TIA!
I've heard 7sage say brute forcing is the way to go for quite a few questions and it really irks me. It's true that in the moment during a test it may be the best option if a question has you kind of lost, but questions are always connected to the rules somehow and never require you to test out every answer choice.

I just did this game and ended up doing something just as time consuming as brute forcing anyway, though . I started off correctly and drew out three diagrams with K in the third spot. Why three? To account for all the possible placements of J. It seemed like the best way to whittle down the possibilities and it ended up being the appropriate inference:

_ J K _ _ _
_ _ K J _ _
_ _ K _ J _

This is really all you have to draw out. I missed the inference you should make here and filled the diagrams out as much as possible, which got me the answer but took another minute or 2 than it should have.

It wasn't until after I finished that I noticed the key here is the HJK rule. If you're aware of the rule and look at the fourth spot in all three diagrams, you quickly realize H can't go there. Often in LG I'll waste time doing much more work than a problem requires because I draw out all possibilities without even examining the answer choices.

I did the RC when I woke up this morning (somehow managed to get to bed much earlier than 4 in the morning for the first time in weeks!). Didn't seem particularly hard or easy so I was expecting a -10 or 11 but how wrong I was.

Just toyed with that... really frustratingly easy the second you test the H in 4, but, for some reason, it didn't particularly jump out to me.

I would say that you should never *totally* brute force. At the very least, you should briefly try to consider which variables are the most restricted or could possibly force a violation. That's partially why this question is annoying... you'd probably be more likely to test J then H. i.e. if this was an ordering game with a leader and it's asking for what can't go somewhere in the latter half of the board, always test the leader.

What happens when you neglect LG for another section for a bit never fails to amaze me. It's like I've completely forgotten how to do these.

This week / forever (until LSAT) - heavy LG first and foremost, every day. Heavy LR and RC alternated WITHOUT neglecting LG.

I'm thinking I'm going to start doing Manhattan's fake logic games or something, just as practice.

So I'm proposing to myself that I should do warm ups before doing a timed section or PT. I usually only feel ehh and off focus for maybe the first 2 questions of an LR section if that's what I'm doing. Before I do my timed LR section during lunch, I think I'm going to do maybe like 5 LR questions from the Cambridge book.

Kind of silly question...

Nearly all = most, correct? Or, does the LSAT just define nearly all as some?

I'd say it means most. When I read "nearly all" I'm thinking >90%

OK, so I'm officially getting worse at Logic Games. I'm making good time and feeling good, but then I'll make some dumbass mistake on an answer choice, and it'll lead to -2/-3 per section. Any tips? Feeling disheartened.

OK, I think I'm realizing my mistakes. I'm finishing with 10 minutes to spare, meaning I'm going too quickly. My 2 missed Q's from the last section came from literally misreading the question, and yesterday I had a huge screw up where I misread the rules. So, from now on, I'm reading the rules and questions twice to make sure there's no sloppy errors. It'll probably save time in the long run, too.

I wouldn't say you're getting worse, you're just making mistakes. I know that you're capable of -0 on games, don't let it get to you if you go -2 on one section. Just keep going at it, bro.

Good to know.
Obviously fake logic games are much less desirable than real ones but I feel like seeing new games regularly would be a big help.

Going to drill games hard today and hopefully get my confidence back up, and drill a few sets of RC and at least one LR set. Then I'm thinking 40s PT tomorrow morning, with new LG at the end.

Lmao so am I.. I'm like Bruh, I still have a year of undergrad, fuck off lol. Even if I didn't have another year, I wouldn't attend any of those schools offering me full rides with that shitty June score I got.

Y'all, once again i would like to recommend Pokemon Go. It distracts me from the LSAT in a way that ALSO gets me walking a lot, which is super good for my state of mind.

I haven't gotten through all of them, but their rule substitution game is pretty solid. (It may actually be a real game with just more questions, IIRC) It definitely feels like a LSAT LG and helps test infrequent question types. I think they've done a fairly good job of emulating some of the core issues in their games to highlight said issues.

In the end, it would actually be *really* easy to make your own LGs that are completely like the LSAT. Just change the skin/wrapping! You probably could, with flipping a rule or two that are the same but worded differently probably make strong analogs of the games without recognizing them. I assume that LSAT has to be able to protect the underlying logic, otherwise, what would be stopping me from just making every single logic game about placing items on a shelf in an order or on different shelves.

Back in $SBUX...don't really want to forfeit my table to get real food, so I may succumb to one of their crappy overpriced sandwiches... I guess I could leave my books on the table and just bring my laptop haha... I don't think anyone is trying to steal my LSAT books here.

Might buy a portable charger or whatever it's called. You can get them pretty cheap for like 7 bucks and they charge your phone up all the way at least once.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
