i was BR'ing today and got confused about Q4 in 70RC. i had picked C, the passage only says "because they reproduce themselves, the abnormally shaped prions cause CJD".
But C is if they don't reproduce then they would not cause CJD, which assumes the reproduction is the only way they can cause CJD, and that is not supported in the passage. anyone explain why this is so? tia

I think I'm going to print out RC from 70-74 and redo them all today and maybe tomorrow. I still haven't taken 75. Think I'm going to leave it in case I need to retake. Although, I know there's a misc. game so maybe I should sneak a peek at that one. Hmm.

I chose mine because everyone says I look like Emma Stone, although I don't really see it tbh. Especially not since I cut my hair.theugg wrote:Why does everyone look like their icon?!McJimJam wrote:I'll leave this here before I go do some final RC drilling.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I am using pencils during RC time and had not planned on sharpening during 15 seconds between sections due to transition wording "pencils down". That being said, I am bringing ten presharpened pencils, sharpened with only the best Kum extra-long sharpener and two back up sharpeners. Dang, I sound cool.TheProdigal wrote:15 seconds between sections. True. I might have to but I am still hoping for Saturday. I actually took practice tests while sick twice just in case, but this pain is a whole different level.PatriotP74 wrote:sanibella wrote:Trying not to worry guys but I was up all night in awful pain. There's still December if it's bothering you come Friday night I wouldn't hesitate to cancel. I couldn't imagine focusing with that.

Did anyone else deliberately create bad times and situations to PT in?
Drinking the night before/right after work/lack of sleep/no AC types of stuff?

This is TCR. Though I'll occasionally grab a duller one for ease of bubbling.gamerish wrote:I'm bringing like 10 sharpened pencils and as soon as one gets dull I'll toss it for another.

I often tell people to take a few practice tests with 3-5 less minutes per section. I don't think I've ever told them to not sleep or to do tequila shots but I'm open-minded to learning new principles too!TheProdigal wrote:Did anyone else deliberately create bad times and situations to PT in?

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
yeah thanks, so i looked up the velocity and the passage. it says the reproduction causes CJD. "ability to reproduce in an unexpected way, one after the other... This cascade of transformations produces a plaque, consisting of thread-like structures that destroy nerve cells."gamerish wrote:David Hall gives a good explanation of it on Velocity, so you should check that out.appind wrote:i was BR'ing today and got confused about Q4 in 70RC. i had picked C, the passage only says "because they reproduce themselves, the abnormally shaped prions cause CJD".
But C is if they don't reproduce then they would not cause CJD, which assumes the reproduction is the only way they can cause CJD, and that is not supported in the passage. anyone explain why this is so? tia
But basically, if you keep reading after the passage talks about the reproduction directly, it says that when they reproduce, the neurons or whatever create webs and the webs are what cause the damage that doctors label as CJD. The reproduction of the cells is necessary for the existence of the thing (webs) that causes the brain damage which therefore makes it necessary for CJD.
it still doesn't say that reproduction/plaque is the only cause of CJD, which is needed for reproduction to be necessary for CJD and that's needed for support of choice-C. any line where it says that reproduction is the only way for CJD to occur or choice C isn't fully supported?

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Three beers the night before, 3.5 hours of sleep, ran home after 6.5 hours at work, no A/C for the first section, and nagging health issues almost forcing me to abandon the test garnered me my highest PT (by a goodly amount).MikeSpivey wrote:I often tell people to take a few practice tests with 3-5 less minutes per section. I don't recommend it, but damned if it isn't good for confidence.
ETA: Mike, I'm looking forward to that week 6 matchup.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Just finished 75, the questions seem pretty easy but somehow got caught out on some weirdly phrased LRs and made quite a few silly mistakes in LG, ended up scoring quite a bit below my average.
72 just arrived in the post but struggling about whether I should take the full PT tomorrow or just do the RC and LG and take it easy...
