I do not use contractions in formal writing either. It just gets sort of laborious to say Columbia Law School / the school / the university / etc.

Yeah - ultimately, my problem is I'm referencing it directly too many times.Alexandros wrote:shorten to Columbia maybe?34iplaw wrote:I do not use contractions in formal writing either. It just gets sort of laborious to say Columbia Law School / the school / the university / etc.

Maybe look how they refer to it on school material / promotional material? If they all it CLS all the time they can't fault you for it.34iplaw wrote:Yeah - ultimately, my problem is I'm referencing it directly too many times.Alexandros wrote:shorten to Columbia maybe?34iplaw wrote:I do not use contractions in formal writing either. Yeah, I never use contractions in real writing. Don't worry about it.
I mean, it's a really outwardly SJW type of firm that I may be with. Some of their causes just really resonate with me and I've been a follower ever since. I feel like outside of the major firms that have like NYC firms some of the NC, ATL, TX firms might not like it one bit on my resume

TBH, I think you'll be fine. Just avoid discussing it and avoid being overly opinionated if it comes up.

I need to start waking up early and going to the gym before work instead of at the end of the day when I'm pissed off and tired.

I'm pretty sure it's expected that you don't use contractions in formal writing. At least that's what I was always told. One of the only pieces of writing advice I bothered taking from high school teachers.
Also, bought a blender. Got the Nutri Ninja as it was on sale.

I think I need a soda stream. I drink copious amounts of seltzer water.
#basic.
Anyone mind doing a quick once-over a LOCI? Mainly making sure the structure makes sense and if anything jumps out as weird or not something to say.

Alt right and evangelical right ain't worth worrying about working for imo unless you're planning on working for some far right senator or something. Can't imagine any mainstream law firm would have much of a right-wing extremist base. If those are the only groups that you're worried about I don't think you should be concerned.chargers21 wrote:I mean, the alt right and evangelical right would definitely put it in that categoryAlexandros wrote:I'm really curious what this firm is now.dj9i27 wrote:SJW firms are a thing?

If a firm ever asked me about my religion, I wouldn't entertain the possibility of working for them.

Hmm thats tough. yeah, I normally don't use contractions but after addressing it fully in the beginning of your essay it may be fine to say "CLS" but honestly, if there is no word count just leave it at full name or just Columbia in case whoever reads it happens to be very anal...dj9i27 wrote:KOOLumbia.Alexandros wrote:shorten to Columbia maybe?34iplaw wrote:I do not use contractions in formal writing either. I know with companies, its very common to write BoA instead of Bank of America or MS- Morgan Stanley or GS- Goldman Sachs and so forth.. so i imagine its Ok... but hey you dont know what you dont know.

Well yeah, if they ever asked me, no I wouldn't work for them. I was more worried about indirect things and this specific firm possibly being listed on my resume when I applyAlexandros wrote:+1oopsu812 wrote:If a firm ever asked me about my religion, I wouldn't entertain the possibility of working for them.

If youre concerned you should really ask someone who knows. I don't think anyone ITT knows much more than you do.chargers21 wrote:Well yeah, if they ever asked me, no I wouldn't work for them. Re: The Official September 2017 Study Group
I did the trainer this semester but havent studied in a few weeks because ive literally been in survival mode trying to finish top in grad school...anyway I have 6 days left until Im done and then the LSAT grind can start heavy again.
I was planning on going through the MH books, but I am considering getting an adaptive course as well. I was thinking about and realized I do find videos and a little more guidance helpful... What do you guys think if I get?
-7Sage (Isnt 7Sage supposed to be the best online-based course?)
-MH interactive
-Testmasters, Blueprint, Powerscore?
-any others im missing? Its late and im cramming for an exam haha.
My first thought was to do 7Sage and bundle the MH books with it. On top of drilling and PTs. THoughts?
Much appreciated.
