So reviewing PT 76 this evening.

Can we all agree that LR1 Q20 is absolute bullshit? The only explanation I can come up with for justifying TCR is that I would have to make the assumption that intellectual appeal is a factor in *every* *single* *student* *ever*'s decision to stay in a major. I don't think that's true - I think tons of students (especially in undergrad) go into majors because their parents pressure them or some other reason, and simply stick with a major because they feel like they have to.

I can see why A is wrong as well as C and D, but I think B is just as arguable as E on this one. Significant decline in # of undergrad degrees in natural sciences as a whole could easily help explain a significant decline in the number of chemistry degrees. And there I don't have to make some assumption about whether or not people switch majors because of intellectual appeal (it certainly wasn't a factor in my staying/choosing engineering).

From my perspective, the reason why E is right and B is wrong is that B does not explain all the observed facts. B does not explain why, in spite of the fact that interest among first years is high and job prospects are great, there is still a decline. Answers to paradox questions should always explain everything that happens.

Where do you get the bolded from? The stim doesn't say there's high interest among first years, just that the same number of students are still entering chemistry programs as there were 10 years ago

BTW, at what point would you consider someone with a 4.0 140 humblebrag a reverse splitter? 170? 172?

I'm in a similar situation as you GPA-wise. I feel like reverse splitter really only has meaning in context for a given school. With a 168/4.0 you'd be a reverse splitter (albeit mild) from UVA and up, but a shoe-in below (and probably receive pretty decent scholarship). With a 170/4.0 you could be looking at a Dillard/Darrow/Mordecai, but still be a reverse splitter at HYSC.

Really depends on what schools you're shooting for.

On review, I was pissed about missing 3 on LR1. The back end of it felt brutally hard when I was taking it, but I think my head just wasn't in it, because I made preventable mistakes. LG went well, although now I see what the fuss around the Virus game is. I plan spending tonight doing more review, and a couple timed LR sections. The hay is pretty much in the barn at this point, but I just want to keep my head in LSAT mode. I want Dallas Biglaw, so I'm aiming for UT and SMU with $$$. Probably gonna head to church tomorrow for the first time in months to pray for that 170.

Yeah, I think I'll probably be right around my average. All my PT's were after a full day of work, and the ones that weren't were my best scores. I've hit 175+ enough times too that I wouldn't be surprised if I hit something in that range, too.

God help us all if a 4.0 172 is a reverse splitter. I think reverse splittler is GPA > 75th and LSAT < 25th

If your PTs were all after work you should be fine. That's quite an accomplishment - when I finish work my body is running on fumes What worries me is that my scores in the late 70s have been noticeably lower than in the early 70s and 60s. A strong downward trend - my average over the last five is 172, while my average in the 60s and early 70s is around 174.

I use to listen to that, but they advocate for a lot of stuff that is IMHO detrimental to top scorers. Also, my worst PTs came while I was listening to them religiously but things came back up after I stopped listening. Correlation/Causation be damned, I don't listen anymore lest my scores dip.

Just fucking quitting PT 74 3/4 of the way in. Was on track for maybe a 165-167. lowest score by far in a long time, just pathetic throughout, my worst RC score ever (-7!). Not exactly encouraging. Just feel completely braindead for no discernible reason.

Don't burn yourself out today. I almost did another PT but had a feeling it might do more harm. I'm just reviewing funky logic games and some light LR/RC today. After 6 pm my time nothing lsat related minus like putting my pile of stuff together for the morning.
