Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I think I may just drill RC instead of taking a PT. pretty happy with LR and LG at this point, but RC is still hurting me. I have the Manhattan Guide ch with all the drills left. Think I'll do those and some times sections.
Random, are there any games that anyone suggests completing before the test? I've done all the drills and LG in PTs I've done.

yeah, that explanation about potential seems right.TheProdigal wrote:That entire test was just easy, to the point a -10 curve seemed generous. Easiest LG I've seen possibly ever, LR1 was cake, LR2 wasn't bad, and RC was fairly straightforward. Really makes me regret not taking June.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:appind wrote:i just did the 75 LR1 again on which i had missed -2 for my 168 on sunday. Looks like i picked C instead of E for the q4, the babbling babies question.
it seems C is wrong only because of word "necessary". if C was "it raises a question, describes a potential experimental test and argues that the test is sufficient to answer the question", would not it be right?
overall had i got -0 and not -3 in lg and didn't screw LR1 i would have been fine. from other posts here, LR1 was supposed much easier than LR2 and i missed same -2 on both.
Right yeah, it gives on conclusion by saying there are two possible things them offering evidence to decide.
I thought LR1 was ridiculously easy if you kept your wits about you. Honestly LR2 isnt too bad either... so I kinda understand the justification for a -10 curve.
Edit to address your Q better. No, I dont think thats right, because it does not describe a potential test. it says "they discovered..." and "past studies have established" which really functions to add evidence. Also I draw a distinction between "sufficient to answer" and "in support of one over the other". the first is "we could get a conclusion" the other is "we have a conclusion".
anyone know what are some of the must-do pattern/rare games are as they seem to be reappearing in recents every now and then?

Was completely DEVASTATED after calculating my raw for 71 yesterday, thank god I had a look at the curve before jumping out of the window.gamerish wrote:172 on PT71! Feels good to hit 170+ on my last test before the real thing, especially after 75 being a disaster.
Thank the lawd for that awesome -14 curve.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Long time lurker here. I decided to post something now that I've finished my last PT for the Oct exam. Took PT 75 and got exactly my average. This is a huge relief for me as my PT scores suddenly plumetted last weekend (took PT 73 and 74 and both score around 8-10 points below avg). Despite the guilt of not studying and extreme angst for the upcoming exam, I took two days completely off (no review, drilling, even stayed away from tls as much as possible), working out, sleeping early, and eating right. Like magic, took PT75 and I'm back where I was. I'm planning on just reviewing this test and maybe some light LR drilling tmw. Taking Friday completely off. If there are any of you out there who are stressed/burnt out like I was last weekend, seriously do take a break. It will work wonders. Good luck everyone on Saturday!

I think I'll leave 75. I've done 72 and 73, although the I thought they were easy. I'll look at 62 and 63. Thanks!Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:PT 75, 72 and 73 I think are musts.
the games from 62/63 as well (the one with stained glass).
it seems like theyre moving to games with a longer scenario, and like 3 rules.

don't want to spoil 73 LG but is it so different from 75/72 that one must do it? it's a fresh test for me and i don't want to touch it unless one absolutely should.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:PT 75, 72 and 73 I think are musts.

Were you thinking about the chart game? That ones more rare. Appind, as log as you've done all the Cambridge drills I think you're set for 72/73.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:appind wrote:don't want to spoil 73 LG but is it so different from 75/72 that one must do it? it's a fresh test for me and i don't want to touch it unless one absolutely should.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:PT 75, 72 and 73 I think are musts.

actually you know what, looking back at it no, its not that remarkable.
Decided I will do 75. Doing it in bed, only 4 sections, probably not all at once. But I bought it and should do it.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
okay so PT 75 didn't go good for me
someone please tell me it doesn't matter...
I bombed an LR which almost never happens
my last 8 tests were 164, 163, 164, 161, 166, 160, 160, 164 and now 158
LR 1 - (-4)
LR 2 (-9)
RC: -7
Games - (-9)
I'm trying not to panic but.. panicking.
EDIT:: coming off of my best LR sections on a PT just from 2 days ago on monday too! To my worst so far..

Honestly, same thing happened to me yesterday with 74, I can honestly tell you it doesn't mean anything. Review, think about why it happened (ie. mindset, confidence, etc.) and forget about it. Really, this score isn't representative of the work you've put in so don't sweat it - it won't happen again on test day.flash21 wrote:okay so PT 75 didn't go good for me

I procrastinated and instead of starting a real section on 75, I practiced the writing prompt haha. First writing section I've done, obviously.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
This happened to me as well. This is helpful to hear. I normally get -2 on RC and ended up with -4... other sections were similar. Knowing that it doesn't have to mean anything is really helpful. I guess that is true -- if I've been scoring consistently high, and the material hasn't changed, it's not like I've lost any intelligence or skills. I'm just getting in my own way by panicking () and if I focus and drill a little more, I'll be alright.204Wpg wrote:Honestly, same thing happened to me yesterday with 74, I can honestly tell you it doesn't mean anything. Do you have any more advice on the "forget about it" part? Right now all I can do is stare at LSAThacks and my PT pdf and wonder why I missed so many questions!

thanks guys. Games was such a shit show... but LR I knew I screwed up. I don't know why. It just felt hard. I felt great the first LR and I got the score I thought I did on that one.. going to break this pt down.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Flash, I agree that the second LR on PT 75 was tougher than the first. I can't remember if it affected my score, but I definitely remember thinking that.
And snedloss, as for forgetting about it I find it incredibly hard as well, my mood took a shot all day yesterday but I tried to watch some tv shows I had PVR'ed, went to the gym, etc. It can help a lot to do something other than look at PTs and read this forum haha.

Yeah I can't lie I'm still rattled about it. I feel super anxious now but trying to just review games for the time being. will look at LR later, i doubt i could do it right now feeling pretty exahustedBertYoo wrote:literally had this happen to me this past weekend. took a practice test, got -9 which hasn't happened since my first PT. threw me on a huge loop, studying it right after i took it didn't help much either at first - still didn't see all the right answers or why mine was wrong. then spent the rest of the afternoon on netflix. went back to it same night and was able to see my mistakes with fresher eyes.flash21 wrote:thanks guys. then i spent the next day on netflix after work - no studying. took another PT day after and got -1 and -2 on LR sections.
TL;DR version: don't stress, let yourself rest especially in these last few days. in my opinion, a mistake is a mistake so it does mean something, not nothing. but that something could be an indication that it's time for a break and to refresh your mind, especially if you bomb something that you are normally good at. we got this.

I've been getting a bunch this week too. I'm just going to take advil right before I check in and have some in my bag for the break and hope for the best.mist4bison wrote:I keep getting these terrible headaches and I'm scared I'll get one on test day. Ugh.
