honestly I don't know anyone who has written a Why X essay for those schools, but I suppose you can if you can think it'll help. but staying in NYC can (and I think should) be included in a why NYU imo, people always write that sort of stuff in their Why essays (proximity to family, familiarity with city, etc). just make sure to write why you think you're a good fit for NYU and why you prefer it over other schools and stuff like that.

This exact question was asked during one of the 7sage Webinars and David Busis said you definitely should mention it since it shows you're serious about attending the school.

If I don't get H, I am staying in NY and will most likely end up at NYU/Columbia or Cornell. Cornell is my top choice though, because I find the city a bit distracting. And Ithaca is one of my favorite places being an upstate New Yorker.

Haha! You're right, some winters are pretty bad, lmao. I was living near Ithaca in 2011-2012 and those winters were brutal. It snowed everyday from December-February, and into the first half of March. However, the past couple years have been pretty mild. I visited Ithaca around Thanksgiving of last year and it was mild as can be. No snow and it wasn't cold at all.

One of the things I like about Cornell is that in a quiet town, perhaps covered in snow most of the school year, I will be more apt to study without distraction.

Now, he is talking to the circulation desk in the loudest attempt at a hushed voice I have ever heard. It's incredulous.

I went so far as to book a private study room at my local library days in advance and the AC was at the same decibel level as a jet engine prior to takeoff. Ridiculous.
