Why did I get my mock trial case materials THIS week, when I can't obsess exclusively over them? Nooooooooooooo

At least this is some kid of indication that RC on this test was hard. Got a 164 on it yesterday with -10 on RC.. felt hard even in blind review, and I missed 5 on the thunder passage alone during the timed section, and I think still missed 2 in that passage during blind review204Wpg wrote:Just did 74 this morning - it was easily the worst "feeling" PT I've ever done. LR1 went pretty smooth, then I got to games and couldn't get #10 and thus ended up running out of time because I couldn't put together any meaningful inferences on the last game. Then I think after feeling like I had gone -5 or more on games I really wasn't in the mood for RC and went -6, and found it very tough (easily thought I was in the -6 to -10 range), and then after the break I was just discouraged.
All in all a 168 on PT 74:
LR1: -2
LG: -3
RC: -6
LR2: -4
This ties my lowest PT and lowest scores on LG and LR. All in all pretty disappointing especially since it didn't feel well, but hopefully I can pick it up on PT 70 tomorrow and that'll be my last one before test day. Really want to go in with a nice high score of 173+.

Omg I miss mock trial. Only a few more days and you can obsess over every single sentence of every witness.3pianists wrote:Why did I get my mock trial case materials THIS week, when I can't obsess exclusively over them? Nooooooooooooo
I hadn't thought about putting MT on my resume, but maybe I should throw it on there?

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
i will cry if I have RC as my experimental.
happened to me in December and I probably did my best RC ever, then when I turned to section 5 and it was RC I knew the previous RC was experimental (it was) and the real one was really hard.

I will probably do my last PT tomorrow. I have had a hard time doing anymore drilling the past few days. I suppose it's time to just let go and relax.

I got a 170 PTing last sunday and then completely bombed PT65 yesterday, went -8 on RC
my worst RC since mid-summer. I'm not gonna sweat it tho. I think it might be due to burnout, although I did go -2 and -2 on LR respectively. I think I'm gonna do one last PT on Wednesday and maybe Thursday, a little bit of light drilling on Friday.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
guys does warm up questions really help that much? I am probably going to bring some questions on the drive (about an hour long ) if many of you think it helps. I have someone driving me so I can just sit in the back work out some problems.. probably won't timed them or score them though. just go through the motions slowly

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I'm wondering this as well. For the older RC, I tried to solidify a process of spending quality time upfront on the passage to really nail down structure and main point and then quickly refer back to the passage. I then didn't really solidify that process but I did okay, which contributed to not solidifying it. The newer ones have been much harder. I did PT72s RC last night and tried to focus on referring back. While it took a little more time than I'd like, I was more accurate (and considering the difficulty of the section I went -8, right around my average on easier ones). I'm gonna try some more sections over the next two days to try and practice that approach some more. I also think that when I DO look back, I tend to take my merry old time, instead of being accurate but also fast. For some reason, I've avoided going fast when looking back thinking that slow is smooth and smooth is fast, but tis not the case in this instance.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:It seems like the newer RC questions are much more dependent on their relationships to the MP and premises that before. It seems like now, questions have two very good choices, but one is easy to eliminate if you're aware of the MP/authors attitude.
I'm kinda getting the sense that referring back to the passage is more important for the newest RC.
I also need to work on skipping questions :/

Yes, I actually was originally quoting your question about RC on 74, but then realized I was typing out my own summary of it and was like "Well, flash probably doesn't want to hear my internal thoughts about all of 74" haha.flash21 wrote:At least this is some kid of indication that RC on this test was hard. But I did find it hard, for some reason I wasn't finding support in the passages easily - although I think a lot of it was just my discouragement from a Shitty games section and not feeling on my game today.
Also, in regards to your warmup post, from what I've read / heard, you've got the right idea not scoring them. I find doing an RC passage, and 4-5 LR questions just gets me reading the right way and in the mindset, so that the first thing you read that day isn't what's counting.

I wish I had just done June now. I've been struggling to study for more than an hour or two per day without sacrificing something else good/important/healthy (e.g., going to class, sleeping, working out, studying, cooking instead of fast food).

I relate to this so much, but rather than fast food I've just stopped eating really. Like breakfast is now just oatmeal, lunch--if I have it--is a protein bar, and dinner will be something easy--sushi take out, oatmeal, another protein bar, just a bag of edamame.RZ5646 wrote:I wish I had just done June now. Like it's actually really bad and I've lost about 8 pounds in the past 2 weeks from not cooking for myself. I just devote so much freaking time to studying and hate losing out on study time to do things like cook or work out. Trying to actually cook and eat this week, though.
Eta: and as I post this I realize it's 4 and I've only had coffee. Perfect example. I have a tendency to forget to eat to begin with and I think my focus on studying makes it a lot worse.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
i scored a 168 on 75 on sunday and have been feeling similar. i thought it's hard for near perfect rc scorers to lose many points in it, but i guess it makes a lot of difference how one feels going into a section. an early slightly less than expected section can ruin later sections.204Wpg wrote:Just did 74 this morning - it was easily the worst "feeling" PT I've ever done. But for reals. Eat more! I've upped my calories 200-300 a couple of days ago and already feel much better.
