I didn't say to him or anyone in particular. I have however seen discussions on apps, with "advice" to blanket out a ton of apps.

App fees add up, even a last minute go apply to 5 schools can be $500 - $600 ...

As for potential payback, yeah if you can pay for it. TLS is filled with discussions of T14 for other for free discussions

If people aren't going to toss $1k on a chance then perhaps spending $100k+ on a chance at a legal job isn't the best option. The risk/reward of applying to possible reach schools is skewed heavily on the reward side in this case.

I think you should only be applying to schools that you know you will attend if you were offered a seat with the big boys/girls/them/theys.

Not necessarily. A few scholarship negotiation apps are good. Most people won't attend WUSTL but it's a great tool for negotiation with other schools.

Well, yes. But you don't need 10 of those.

I sent out 18 apps. Seriously considering 4. Super splitter for most of the schools I applied to. Many of the were app fee waivers though.

Can I get a little wild speculation on where I should apply next cycle with a 178ish and a 2.7 and 15 years of carpentering experience? I'm not really interested in paying for law school, or going to NYC, Boston, Chicago, or pretty much anywhere else that gets significant snow in the winter.

Really, those kinds of numbers aren't reported enough to have a lot of ideas on this. However, based on the limited data it looks like you would have a chance at lower t14 (Northwestern) and below. The top non-snow school (depending on how significant is significant) is UT Austin, but with the Texas slant it might be hard to get in there, much less a full ride.

Honestly, I think full ride is going to be difficult anywhere. The numbers just don't seem to support that much of a split getting even half scholarship, much less full. It would really be up to your power of negotiation and how much they need your score.

EDing Northwestern would be your best chance at significant money.
