Re: The Official June 2017 Study Group
I think I came up with a solution to my dilemma of whether or not to score my Saturday PT: I'll take it and have my brother score it. If its below 170 he won't show me. If its 170+ he'll flip a coin and will show me if its heads, and not show me if its tails. That way I increase the probability that I get a score that will render a confidence boost while not risking a devastating blow due to a bad score. If he doesn't show me I could have just lost the cointoss.
Now that I've typed all that out I think I might be autistic.....

PT 80, final one
Overall: 171
LR1: -5 (honestly wtf?? A bunch of these questions seemed absolutely ridiculous. That one about the students asking up late had me staring at it blankly for a few seconds).
RC: -0
LG: -1 (on buildings)
LR2: -3
Not too bad. I was obviously hoping for something higher, but the LRs tripped me up more than they usually do. I'll be completely happy with scoring this on test day though.

I did -9 on RC on PT 79 today too.NavyNuke wrote:Stumbling to the finish line.. 168 today on PT 79.

I have read on here that the Gray passage was hard and was determined to do well on it.. Took WAY too much time and still got 2 wrong. Then I had to fly through the next passage (going -3) and guess on all but the first question of the last passage because I ran out of time (got all 4 guesses wrong).
Really upset with myself. An RC performance like this is gonna result in a retake, which I really want to avoid.
Feel ok about LR and LG performance.
I tried to mimic my test routine today. Slept in, ran, shower, coffee, light warm up, test (started around 12:45). Didn't work well. I felt very drowsy during the first half of the test. Gonna review and drill tomorrow. Saturday PT 80. This time I will wake up normal time, run, coffee, much more extensive warmup, 20 min break, test at 12:45ish. Hoping RC disaster was partly due to drowsiness and partly because of me being an idiot and sinking too much time into the Gray passage.
Also, McCain sounded like he had no idea what was going on today. It was hard/sad to watch.
Hopefully we get 170+ on PT 80. Good Luck!

Im just going to look at my score for Saturday's PT. That way, I dont have unrealistic expectations lol
But it might be a downer. Sigh.

While confidence is important, there is more value in a bad score than a good score on a PT. IMO refusing to take the lessons from a bad PT may be leaving points on the table.

Anybody else's email just bummmmpin' with "GOOD LUCK!" emails?
But on an actual note, I have 78 and 80 left. Which one will boost my confidence more?

Isn't the LSAT such a strange test? I mean I've been studying pretty hard for 5 months but I can still miss 10 questions easily. Before I started studying I was convinced I'd be knocking out a 180 by now, it's definitely a humbling experience.

I think 80 was a good one. Also, yeah, sooo many. I got a care package in the mail from some school I forgot the name of, and they hooked it up with some pencils, an eraser, a sharpener, and a plastic bag. Thank god too, because I had none of those things (I've been taking PTs with pens for months).heyduchess wrote:Anybody else's email just bummmmpin' with "GOOD LUCK!" emails?

PT 75
LR1: -3
RC: -2
LR2: -2
LG: -3
170
Everyone else is doing it, so here are my averages:
Last 10
Range: 163-174
Overall Average: 168.5
Section Averages: LR -3.1 LG -2.6 RC -4.8
Last 5:
Range: 169-174
Overall Average: 171.2
Section Averages: LR -2.2 LG -2.4 RC -3
Jump in the last 5 due to the fact that my semester ended and I've actually been able to focus all my energy on the LSAT and study consistently instead of patches of studying over the course of a few months. Feeling good about Monday. Taking PT80 on Sunday. Let's get it, fam.

Just took 79 today too.calmike wrote:Just took PT 79.
I bombed RC and this test. Haha.
PT 79
LR1: -5
RC: -9
LR2: -4

Sooo Disappointing. I scored a 170 on my last test.
I will take PT 80 on Saturday morning.
I had heard that the virus game was tough so I knew it was coming but I was glad that I was able to get all my questions rights.
I had a really hard time understanding the RC passages. This was probably the hardest RC section I have taken.
I reviewed the LR mistakes and noticed that 3/5 of the LR1 mistakes, I had switched my answer. I need to follow my guts more.
For RC, I just need to take my time and FOCUS. I need to make sure to find the answer that matches the passages.
If I score a 165 on actual test date, I will be happy. With a 165 though, I would retake again in September but I would probably take 2-3 practice tests leading up to the test date.
LR: -1
RC: -5 (screw eileen gray)
LG: -5 (screw computer viruses)
LR2: -0
170. Dammmmnn. Really wanted a high score on this one but I got my second lowest. Instead of boosting my confidence this tanked it. PT 80 on Saturday, hope that goes well.
Yep. I've always been great at reading (started at 2.5 years, gifted program, perfect ACT etc), but these RC passages really throw me for a loop sometimes. They are design to humble I suppose.MediocreAtBest wrote:Isn't the LSAT such a strange test? I mean I've been studying pretty hard for 5 months but I can still miss 10 questions easily. bad day for me for LG. idk what happened. misread a rule on G4 of the games section and didnt finish in time, which is veryyyyy rare for me. i was convinced i would do bad on this test, actually. i had a hard time focusing and was in general just out of it. there was also an LSAT tutoring session behind me which was really distraction lol. if i go -3 in LR on test day i think im happy.
i took this test for realz and went
RC -1
LR -3
LG -8 (didnt reset watch)
LR -3
interestingly i did not miss the same RC Q as before.
i sense burnout coming so probably chilling the next couple of days.

It won't stop. I'm really annoyed I consented to LSAC giving out my info because it went to everybody and I said only give it out to schools in DC/MD/VA. Just took PT 64 again since I did bad on LR the first time I took it. Ended up scoring my first 180
LR1: 0
LG: 0
LR2: 0
RC: 1
I remembered two LR questions, but I made sure to work through each one and eliminate each AC. Same with RC. It may not be a "true" 180, but I'll take it.
