I typically would watch his explanation for the stimulus only if I had gotten the same answer as him. It helped me compare my reasoning to his, and if I knew why each A/C was wrong then I would just skip that.ngogirl12 wrote:For those of you that use 7Sage quick question:

I ask this because yesterday I was watching some of the videos but found myself tuning out because I understood the process and was getting bored. I don't know if this is the right approach though.
Yeah, I read that JY likes the Staedtlers and then got Nicole Hopkins and a bunch of other people using them.ngogirl12 wrote:Thanks for this! On 7Sage they highly recommend the Norica's as well. I love pencils that have a darker lead.Barack O'Drama wrote:So a couple of days ago I mentioned I was going to buy some pencils and review them. Here are some quick thoughts on what I found. I basically compared the Ticon Blacks, Palomino Blackwing 602, and Staedtler Norica.
The Staedtler Norica was my favorite for a few reasons. The main one was that the Ticon seemed to scratch the paper and the Norica was smooth and glided on the paper. It made it easier to write neat, easier to bubble, and was more comfortable. I'm ambidextrous and switch the hand I write with sometimes and it seemed ok for both. Also, they seemed better for bubbling in answers. I think the lead is a bit more soft.
The Palomino Blackwing was similar to the Staedtler, but almost too smooth. Better for drawing; not for test taking. Also, when I tried with my left hand, it smudged... Incidentally, some have said this is ok for the test despite the fact it may not be a true #2, still I wouldn't risk it. Lastly, this thing does not erase well. Not recommended.
The Ticon Blacks are really good, too. If you're not as neurotic as me, I think they will do just fine. They erase a bit easier than the Noricas, but being that the lead is a bit more hard, the only downside is they don't seem as smooth. When writing fast the hard lead makes writing neat a bit more challenging.
I ended up buying 72 Noricas for like $20 at Staples. So they aren't expensive. Now I have enough forever! The Palomino Blackwings were like $17 for a dozen. And the Ticon Blacks are about $5 for 2 dozen. I also got the Palomino Blackwing sharpener which is great for giving your pencil a longer tip.
ETA: I'm going to PT this weekend with the 180 Watch and I'll post a full review for that somewhere. (Couple people messaged me to ask how it is so far)
My issue with the Black Ticonderoga's is the lead is not dark enough, would you say the Staedler's lead is darker?

When I'm going through the core curriculum, even when I understand and get the same answer as JY, I usually just sit through the explanations. If only because every once and a while he will explain something a certain way that helps me understand why one of the A/Cs was a "trap answer."ngogirl12 wrote:For those of you that use 7Sage quick question:

If I truly understand all the reasoning, and I can do it under time, I skip it. But I've made a point to watch every video at least once, because sometimes he has a more efficient method or a better inference.ngogirl12 wrote:For those of you that use 7Sage quick question:

Yeah, I would just make sure that when you get a question correct because you chose it with 100% confidence using the right reasoning. Even when I can use cross-elimination to get the right answer, but could not spot the correct answer with confidence, I watch and read the explanations.Barack O'Drama wrote:When I'm going through the core curriculum, even when I understand and get the same answer as JY, I usually just sit through the explanations. My reasoning is just because I got it right, and avoided the trap answer, it is good to fully understand what makes it wrong so I don't fall for a similarly- worded question in the future...If that makes sense.

I did polisci and IR in undergrad and I loved that passageTheMikey wrote:Just did the RC passage that talks about Freud, fairy tales and therapy for children. I found it to be really interesting to be honest, but that might just be because I'm a psych major.. Went 5/5 on it
I know how you feel, after making progress in RC I had a deplorable time with it today. I blame it on fatigue, being hungry (even though I had breakfast), and not doing my morning workout. :/YupSports wrote:And now, for your entertainment, I present: my PT 47 score!

LR2: -7 (Filled in last one as time ran out)
LG: -0 (Finished before the proctor even called 5:00)

So... uh... a weird test for sure.
I've had a splitting headache all day, and I would like to think that stress from work, sleep deprivation, and hitting the gym too hard caught up with me.
Blind review should be an absolute blast.

Yeah. I read the Melania v. Michelle's speech plagiarism last night, and saw the RNC snapchat story (I don't subscribe to them, it was one of the stories featured). It was interesting.Replitz wrote:This was me yesterday. And probably tonight. A glass of scotch and an evening of disbelief/laughs.SweetTort wrote:Getting blitzed and watching the RNC. What is life.

I actually think they are perfect for what your preferences are. When I write, I'm generally a lefty, so not smudging is important to me. That is why I didn't like the Palomino Blackwings. The Norica didn't smudge at all for me. The lead is noticeably more deeper and darker than the Ticons.
Yeah, I do the same. I'm talking about the situation where you feel confidant that you got the answer right, you do, and you know why all the wrong answers are wrong. I usually sit through the explanations to see if my reasoning is the same as JY's, but I find myself not listening and bored out of my mind (in this situation) lol.jagerbom79 wrote:Yeah, I would just make sure that when you get a question correct because you chose it with 100% confidence using the right reasoning. Thanks for this. You just convinced me not to skip questions I think I understand the reasoning to, and force myself to listen because hey, JY may give me some insight I didn't think of!Replitz wrote:If I truly understand all the reasoning, and I can do it under time, I skip it. Foolproof and drill. It is not always about making inferences but some games are also rule driven. Drilling helps with familiarity with the material and getting the games in under a certain time limit.jagerbom79 wrote:I often find myself taking a little too long on LG and I think it is because I am not making enough initial inferences and so when I get to some problems I just have to try the answer choices.
