Lurker here. Stupid question, why do some of you guys spell it "shitpoast" instead of "shitpost"? Is it like the "gray" vs "grey" thing?

Some people intentionally misspell it as "shitpost" even though "post" isn't a word. They think it's funny or something.

Same-sex marriage: Court will rule that states cannot ban same-sex marriage. The breadth of the ruling's interpretation could vary depending on who writes the opinion, but I'm like 95% sure that this is the direction the ruling will go.

Lethal injection: Court will rule that midazolam is acceptable for use in lethal injections. This one might go either way, but gut feeling is that SCOTUS won't find this case compelling enough to ban midazolam, especially given that this would constitute a considerable blow to death penalty protocol.

Redistricting: Court will rule that Arizona's independent redistricting commission is unconstitutional.

Violent crime: Court will rule that the ACCA's definition of "violent crime" is unconstitutionally vague. I'd expect a narrow interpretation out of this, though.

Power plant pollution: Honestly this one is a total tossup for me. I have no idea which way the Court will rule. My hope would be in favor of the EPA, so as far as guessing goes I'm gonna go with that.

Im in the same boat. Im looking at GULC and GW. It is a lot easier (in the financial sense) because I make 60k a year and dont have to worry about anything other than tuition. With the GI bill and the money that these schools give out, it isnt unimagineable that you could get out of there with no debt. The only issue that I see with this is if you get orders during your first couple of years. The AF only lets you defer assignement for 12 months. I don't have retainability to go overseas (the only other possible assignment for me) so all I have to worry about is getting orders, declining them, and then getting shown the door at the end of my enlistment (hopefully not, cuz I wanna go JAG). Not sure what your situation is like but just make sure that you don't have the potential to get orders. Once that money is spent you are never getting it back.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to use the GI Bill. I went to the Air Force Academy for my undergrad and service Academy graduates are not eligible for 100% the GI bill until 8 years on active duty. Don't even get 60% until 6 years. Which I can't complain about because I got a $450,000 undergraduate education for free. Luckily, I have already spoken to my career managers down at AFPC and they said if I start my JD part time, they will make sure I can finish it. Also, I still have at least two years at my base, and I could turn down any orders after that since my remaining commitment would be less than a year at that point. I work as a contracting officer, so it would not be hard to get stationed at another base in the DC area or one of the many acquisition programs, like the joint strike fighter, we have here either. I am not sure what career field you are in, but have you looked into FLEP? That was what I was attempting to do before contracting told me they would not release me to go to law school full time (only 58% manned for officers in this AFSC.) I can wait until I am down to only one year remaining on my commitment and then probably get released for FLEP, but that would be the only shot I have at getting picked up for it. I don't want to put it off for 3 years and wait that long since I am still in the school mode.

It would suck going to work from 0730 to 1630 every day and then class from 1745-2045 and studying late into the night. However, I honestly don't think it could be that much worse than USAFA was. Waking up at 0500 for wrestling practice, class from 0730-1500, wrestling practice again from 1545-1830, and then studying and homework until lights out at 2300. Not to mention the other military commitments and training. Put up with 4 years of hell, so figured why not jump in and do it again. Plus my squadron commander knows my plan and is very supportive of me pursuing it.

Ok yeah, you are in a completely different situation. I wish I was an officer. Enlisted doesn't have quite as many opportunities. FLEP is only avaiable for O1-3 so I would have to commission first and I already have 7 years TIS. And I'm not sure how officer assignments work but from what I understand you have a little more leway than enlisted do. Btw, completely unrelated but I'm getting my MBA in Government Contracts and Acquisition incase law school doesn't pan out. How is the career field? Currently, I am a linguist and would REALLY like to get away from intelligence.

Yes. Of course
