Shush and be supportive? Do you really want to fuck up this guys life? He seems like he has been through a lot and you want him to make the one wrong move of going to law school in this day and age? HOLY FUCK.
peetesLA, I suggest you take that Harvard Extension School degree and apply to chill consulting jobs. Law school is meant for super-study strivers in their 20s (like me). Trust me, you would hate your life with people like that.
Leave this board and don't ever come back.

peetestLA - I think if you are already dropping 174 after a 3 month hiatus and just a 6 week initial prep, then hell yeah, I'd give it a shot. It seems you will have to invest very little time into prep, and its worth just a take and to see what happens. Since your score is already so high and the effort wont be as significant, I think this is one of the few times I can say that even if you arent completley sold on law school/law career you can decide if its something you can mull over after a take since you are already at a high score. With a score like that I imagine you can get very decent money at some good schools. Good Luck man, I seriouslly wish you the best. Ignore Scholarly - knew he was a troll, didnt realize he went full dbag in his character.

Re: The Official February 2015 Study Group
Speaking of HYS strivers, I went KTV (karaoke) with a SLS grad and some other people, he was class of 13 so he got in 2010, and it was rough that cycle.
Anyway I'm excited to meet him and talk about law school and he's just like "yeah don't go to law school." He didn't even ask me what my numbers were, where I'm applying, what I want to do. He just immediately was like "don't go you'll hate it." He was a rather condescending guy.
Now, granted, perhaps he has his reasons. He seemed to not want to talk about it, but I pried it out of him. He's like "you'll hate it, the job sucks, etc." He's currently working at a software startup type company in Silicone Valley (so not JD stuff). Basically, he went to SLS but also took their UG comp sci courses, and decided he wanted to do IT.
It was literally a conversation with one of them TLS preachers. If anybody wants the TL;DR version of his advice:
Conditions for going to law school
- The job you really want absolutely requires a JD.
and
- You have worked as a paralegal, read legal documents in your spare time for fun, have co-authored a jurisprudence-related article in a reputable journal, sleep with Civil Procedure: Theory and Practice 4th edition under your pillow, and fap about copy-pasting legal documents while only changing names. (I'm only barely exaggerating).
He didn't even bother with the COA/employment speech.

You absolutely need to stop with this idiocy about people's age. Law school is not meant only for strivers in their 20s and older people have no problem with taking orders from someone younger if that person is above them in the job hierarchy - there's nothing humiliating about it. If you continue with this crap I will ban you for simply being a moron (which I don't normally do, but I'll make an exception here).I<3ScholarlySweets! wrote:Shush and be supportive? Apparently SLS is either the only or one of very few law schools who allow that. Their classes are also pass/fail, so class rankings and such are determined by the number of honors-passes you have.gamerish wrote:So he's saying they let him cross-register for UG courses while studying at the LS?
My striver glasses remain potent.
Scholarly why are you still here literally everybody thinks you're an asshole.

The guy I talked to did TFA. Since correlation == causation and what's true for him is true for everybody, yeah go to TFA.gamerish wrote:...PeanutsNJam wrote:Apparently SLS is either the only or one of very few law schools who allow that. Just do 2 years of pretending to care about disadvantaged youth in urban cities solely to get into SLS and end up miserable while there and beyond. O! WHAT A NOBLE AND PRINCIPLED PERSON!

TFA selects for academic excellence. So does SLS. That's literally the only reason TFA people are well represented.

I think it's a pretty strong soft IMO, since it's:
- Strong WE, which is always a good soft
- Demonstrates public interest, which is always a good soft
- Indicative of competent interviewing skills
TFA is selective beyond GPA.

I dont think its the ONLY reason. I mean at the end of the day its still decent work experience.zacboro wrote: I'm wondering why if "literally the only reason TFA people are well represented [is because] TFA selects for academic excellence," and if your GPA/LSAT score represent your academic excellence, then what's the point of being represented by TFA?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
