If it makes you guys feel better. I'm a splitter, and I took 3 years off after UG to work a preftigous jerb, left preftigious jerb to study FT for LSAT in September '16, did pretty well, and got another prefitigous jerb 2 months later.

Yeah this is very true. I suppose I was planning on the assumption that it was 5 years for every school...Alexandros wrote:My one/two points of unsolicited advice would be to 1) look up how long scores are accepted for at certain LSs, and 2) Prioritize being certain that law is what you want to do with your life.oopsu812 wrote:HeyAlexandros wrote: Hello, friend.
Eta: If you mean applying then - why are you taking so early, out of curiosity?. Mainly to give myself more than enough time to defer/retake if necessary, and because I want to take it now while I'm still a student, and not wait until I have a full time job.
I say this as someone who took September of Junior year with extremely similar reasoning. If you perform well, the LSAT becomes a bit of a ticking time bomb, and may discourage you from getting WE or fully exploring other options post-UG if you decide you want to. That said, I have few things to complain about wrt LSAT - But those are a few things I definitely didn't really fully consider at the time.

Yale ?
H '5 years'
S oct 2011 for 2017 school start
Chi '5 years before date of application'
CLS June 2012 for 2017 school start
NYU Oct 2011 for 2017 school start
Mich June 2011 for 2017 school start
UVA ?
NU '5 years'
Berk '5 years'
Duke ?
Cornell June 2011 for fall 2017 start
Penn - June 2011 for fall 2017 start
Gtown June 2011 for fall 2017 start
So it's essentially five years but there's a bit of variation in what they consider to be five years (CLS for example).

(side note, the amount of excel sheets that come up when I search "LSAT" on my desktop is absolutely horrifying.)

Interesting, that's great to know, so thank you. Looks like for most schools Sept 2017 will be good for fall 2023 start (2022 CLS). So even in the unlikely event that I don't need to retake, I think I'll be okay. I definitely won't hesitate to defer though if I don't feel confident.Alexandros wrote:I looked this up a couple of weeks ago and this is what I got:oopsu812 wrote:Yeah this is very true. LSAT preptests, logic games, obsessive analyses of score release dates, obsessive analyses of what's required to get t14 full-rides, random things like LSAT expiration dates (see above), etc, etc.ngogirl12 wrote:Noo, you can't leave!!Alexandros wrote:(side note, the amount of excel sheets that come up when I search "LSAT" on my desktop is absolutely horrifying.)

If you are still in UG and have wiggle room in your schedule, take some introductory philosophy courses. I'm not even kidding this will help your LSAT score.

formal logic had some overlap but also had the lowest average of any course I've taken in UG, so, y'know.Mikey wrote:I took one and didnt think it helped tbh lolproteinshake wrote:CottonHarvest wrote:If you are still in UG and have wiggle room in your schedule, take some introductory philosophy courses. I'm a big proponent of language classes if you need an easy A+. The marking is objective and the content is brutally easy. I wouldn't touch anything requiring essays with a 100m pole.Alexandros wrote:formal logic had some overlap but also had the lowest average of any course I've taken in UG, so, y'know.Mikey wrote:I took one and didnt think it helped tbh lolproteinshake wrote:CottonHarvest wrote:If you are still in UG and have wiggle room in your schedule, take some introductory philosophy courses. Honestly, if I could go back and do UG just to prepare for the LSAT, I would have done a Math minor, and taken more Economics and Philosophy/Classics courses.

If you can only take one phil course to benefit LSAT, try to find an intro to symbolic logic type course. Helps with both LG and understanding argument structure for LR.ngogirl12 wrote:+1chargers21 wrote:Only if you can get an ACottonHarvest wrote:If you are still in UG and have wiggle room in your schedule, take some introductory philosophy courses. I think you'll be fine, and you will be surprised what you retain. I think you may find yourself doing a lot of it subconsciously.littlewing67 wrote:Guyz you post too much for me to keep up![]()
I haven't touched anything LSAT since Sept. I'm looking to start up in June. Do you think I have forgotten everything or it is like ingrained in my brain?
Also for Cambridge packets, I know they have PTs 1-40 by type. Do you think they're still relevant to newer RC sections? I feel like RC used to be more straight forward and now it has more to do with inferences you make. I already have the packets but wondering if they will be useful for someone who wants to make RC their bitch.
Personally, I found doing passages by subject helpful.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
