or not caring... baked goods are moist, there is no other way to describe them (unless dry ofc) too many people need to get over the wordforum_user wrote:Not knowing that everyone hates the word moist in 2016.....Smallville wrote:why not just use moist...pretzeltime wrote:what synonym can one use to describe the moistness of a muffin?forum_user wrote:But like describing food as moist in 2016....pretzeltime wrote:chyeah. a moist muffin with wild Maine blueberries? heavenlyforum_user wrote:

Welllllllllz I'm not sure what prompted that BUT I guess I'm bougie due to my bon vivant lifestyle/champagne taste on a beer budget.amta wrote:would you describe yourself as basic or bougie?pretzeltime wrote: no substitute for moistness when discussing baked goods. sorz f_u!
Never basic. Even when I have basic affinities I'm not basic.
How about you?
ETA yes 'bon vivant lifestyle' is redundant.

Totally unrelated to pretzel, it just reminded me of a discussion we had in the lounge a while back.
How do you guys react when people use Latin or other foreign language terms in every day speech?

Well I like when people throw Latin around because it alerts me to the fact that they are probably dickholes and probably went to prep schoolBirdLawExpert wrote:Totally unrelated to pretzel, it just reminded me of a discussion we had in the lounge a while back.

(I mean, some Latin is chill and some is not)
Just depends on the person and how obnoxious they are/aren't

Well, naturally in the legal profession Latin is sometimes necessary or useful, and in that case of course it ain't a problem.Smallville wrote:how do you plan on avoiding being one of said "dickholes" after LS?pretzeltime wrote:Well I like when people throw Latin around because it alerts me to the fact that they are probably dickholes and probably went to prep schoolBirdLawExpert wrote:Totally unrelated to pretzel, it just reminded me of a discussion we had in the lounge a while back.

That being said, most of the good lawyers I've communicated with make it a point not to overuse Latin terminology. They often just say the concept in plain English without referring to the Latin.
It extends beyond Latin of course to highfalutin language in general. I know someone is brilliant when they are able to make their point eloquently but with few big words.

Yeah I came up with a range. Sometimes I feel confident I'm on the high end of that range, sometimes I feel confident I'm on the low end. It just depends on the day. Fuck RC.carasrook wrote:is there much variance in the time of day scores are released? is it like...ok monday's the day, first batch goes out at 8am, or does it change every administration?

I would bet my score that we don't get them on Thursday.
They get released in batches over a period of a few hours, but we can go grey at pretty much anytime between normal east coast business hours.

I have this problem every time I order a croissant in the states. Do I say it correctly and come off like a douche or do I say it like I'm from texas (kraw-sant) and come off like a redneck.BirdLawExpert wrote:Totally unrelated to pretzel, it just reminded me of a discussion we had in the lounge a while back.

Or maybe, try to have ass it and mix the two together (kroy-sahnt)???
So uncomfortable.

kwa-sahn is TCR for maximum douchery, with the n heavily nasalized.ponderingmeerkat wrote:I have this problem every time I order a croissant in the states. Seems right...so...half assed correct? What's preferable (kwa-sant) or (croy-sahn)? This really eats me up.forum_user wrote:kwa-sahn is TCR for maximum douchery, with the n heavily nasalized.ponderingmeerkat wrote:I have this problem every time I order a croissant in the states. Re: June 2016 - Waiter's Thread (+170 or bust)
I have all my money on Monday. Reddit seems to think Sunday could be it, but I don't know about the weekend. Monday will be a very nerve racking day full of refreshing, maybe a work out (with refreshing every 10 min), and then some drinks (while refreshing every 5 min). This will likely be repeated on the following days if it is not Monday.
I wasn't confident when I took it last year, so I am kind of excited to be more on the confident side and to feel the mix of stress and eagerness.

Haha whenever I order one I typically mumble everything except the K sound and the S sound specifically to avoid this dilemma.
