I have heard that most top test takers do not notate.

I can see myself notating heavily and then slowly doing less and less as I get closer to the test.
I have that book as well, I liked it. Although it was very helpful, I'm starting to really like 7sage's memory RC method.
Care to offer any insight on why you made the switch - plenty of time to pick a system and stick with it before September.
It's not so much that I'm switching, I just like 7sage's memory method as an add on to what Blueprint's book teaches :)
Ahh, thanks for the clarification.

I just finished the Blueprint RC book, and will be drilling full timed sections for the next two weeks or so.

Are you taking in June as well as September? I remember you from the June thread (I changed my avatar).

I'm taking in June, but if I don't get my desired score then I will retake in September. To be completely honest, I think I want to use up all 3 of my takes either way, to try and get the highest I can as possible.

That is a very smart strategy!

I am essentially doing the same, with 1 take left.

1st take: Absent (don't get me started :x )
2nd: 160
September : 170+

Who knows, maybe you'll 180 in June and then it is chill & relax time!

Checking in and my first post on TLS! Though I may, or may not have lurked in the past...

Finishing up finals on Wednesday and I will be starting my prep about a week or so after that.

Prep Materials:
The Trainer
LSATs 52-71
I will be doing some formal logic stuff on the side as well.

LSDAS GPA is going to be around 3.7
Going for a 170+

Hey all,

I finished the intro section to the Official LSAT Superprep book, and am moving onto the complete Powerscore Bible collection. After the Bibles, I plan to purchase many PTs.

In addition to these books and setup, is there another prep book that anyone has had success with that could strengthen my study materials? Manhattan.. etc? I saw some earlier comments on Blueprint, 7sage for RC?

Please Advise,

Thanks.

Blueprint's RC book is good, they teach you on structure. You can also try out 7sage's RC memory method which I think is pretty useful as well! But try things out and see what works for you.

Hey fellas, I'm onboard for the September LSAT. I just received the LSAT trainer along with preptests 62-71. Do you think the thelsattrainer.com's 16 week trainer is any good or should I do the 12 week guide? I was thinking 12 week guide that way I can move on to the bibles and work on my weaknesses.

Do you guys have any recommendations as far as study schedules go? Is 7Sage worth the cost or is the free account fine?

First off, GO RAMS!

Yeah, I'm starting the 16-week trainer on Wednesday myself, which still leaves me with a month afterward for additional PT and the bibles. But I plan to review the bibles and also PT during the Trainer study too, on weekends. That's my plan, after spending countless weeks hanging out in these forums learning from others. I would add, if I had more hours in the week to study, I might choose the 12-week plan, if only to give myself that extra month of PT work. But alas, I'm still in my senior year and also taking courses in summer school.

If you have the extra hours, 12-weeks might be perfect. Good luck!

I'm also taking summer classes but they are online. I figured going to the library every other day to get school work done and studying for the LSAT will be optimal for me. I'm leaning toward the 12 week trainer.

I haven't told anyone I'm studying for the LSAT. I want to see how well I can do and prove to myself that I can work towards something and acheive it for myself.

Has the LSAT Trainer helped any retakers at all? I'm writing for the 3rd time so I know my basics pretty well, but I haven't touched anything LSAT related in about 8 months. I'm re-reading some PS stuff throughout the rest of this month but I wouldn't mind grabbing some new methods too.

3rd retaker here. I'm using it just to refresh on everything. I'm halfway done with it. I wouldn't say its necessary but I think its helpful to go through it before the PS stuff.

For you second and third takers, what is the biggest lesson you learned from your first and second study plans? Basically, what are you changing now, that us first takers can learn from?

I'd like to avoid those first round mistakes. ;)

Depends your personality, but I definitely think it is worth telling people - make yourself socially accountable. I forget the specific studies - and whether they are total hogwash - but the basic idea is that telling people of your resolutions or plans is the best way to keep them. I was hesitating about telling people, but I have delayed it long enough. Also, I know a good number of people who went to very good law schools, so they're advice can definitely help!

I'm asking them what they did, so I can update with what they did.

[180; Harvard] She took Kaplan/LSAT about five years ago, but she's ridiculously smart and isn't that adamant about it.
[dont know; Columbia] She took TestMasters in person about four years ago, and she liked it. She took it while in UG at an IVY, so there is a possibility that a better instructor was available than in some other locations. Pure speculation there.
[dont know; Columbia] just graduated; took testmasters in person in NYC; liked it; provided motivation and focus on what went wrong

Waiting on responses from a Stanford [178 IIRC] kid and another ~two~ one Columbia kids [not sure scores].

There are few better ways to destress-- Archer and an alcoholic beverage.

Any thoughts on the 12 week vs the 16 week plan? Thinking of incorporating Manhattan at the end, depending on where I am.

so the biggest thing that screwed me when I first took it was that I was taking 4 PTs a week and this REALLY drained me. not only that, but I never got past a 166-168 point because I never reviewed my tests. I also got about 2-3 hours of sleep before the LSAT because I wasn't used to waking up so early (I woke up at 5:00AM).

It's been a long long time since I studied for the LSAT (original scores have expired), but I'm back in now and hoping to score well in September. Looking forward to interacting with everyone and hopefully carrying some connections forward into a school specific board when the time comes :D

If everything goes well, towards the end I am planning on taking one PT week: on Saturday, at the test time, 5 sections, with break and snack.

Sounds like a perfect plan. I was going to try three a week, but after what I'm hearing in here, one sounds like more than enough. It also sounds like reviewing that PT is even more important. I'm on it. Good luck!

Blueprint's RC book is good, they teach you on structure. You can also try out 7sage's RC memory method which I think is pretty useful as well! But try things out and see what works for you.
Okay, great. Thank you. I will check them out and see what meshes well with my thinking-style.

Seems like a lot of the recent comments gave a thumbs up to the LSAT trainer study plans. Could you do that in conjunction with the Bibles or is it better to do it by itself first?

Personally, I didn't being with the LSAT trainer although I regret it because I know that it is amazing. Many people that use it usually go through it first and then go through other books after, which in your case are the bibles.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
