Bands? Like score range?
Yes, ranges for both LSAT scores and GPAs.
God that would be a terrible change

Or not. You'd be able to do more detailed calculations on whether you'd get in
If all you have is the range without the 25/50/75 percentiles, there is no calculation that you can perform. It's just a range.

I think the LSAT is a good test, so de-emphasizing it would stink for those who put in the work.

Looks like you can compute that though. Caveat: no idea it will happen: http://www.americanbar.org/content/dam/ ... eckdam.pdf
Ohhh now that I read the ABA report it makes sense. This would definitely make it easier to gauge your chances.

Agreed. But these proposed changes wouldn't necessarily de-emphasize the lsat. School prestige could still be maintained by who has the most enrolled students in a certain range (170+ would still be HYS).

The ABA likes to make elaborate changes that don't have much benefit  (like adding Standard 503-3 then eliminating it a year later).

I really hate that they might cap GPA at 3.68. That would blow

I wonder if this would be separate from rankings or if US News would change their criteria. Definitely something to keep watching, I guess.

Yeah, I mean, this should actually be to our benefit (minus the GPA thing)

How this would affect schools' scholarship offers would be interesting. I'm guessing landing in the 170+ range ABA would establish should still net you $$$$$

I'd be fine with this new reporting as long as they ALSO still reported 25-50-75, basically keeping the status quo for rankings purposes (and thus keeping schollies somewhat predictable). If ABA wants to know how many 155-159's are in the Harvard class for whatever reason, they can knock themselves out.
