I like the attitude Breath! No reason you can't get em all right. When I came to that realization a few weeks before the real thing it made the last bit of difference I needed.

Keep up the good work Chester! Concerning PT 57 (June 09), can someone please explain the answer in Section 3 (LR) Q20, I had D and E left as contenders, obviously chose the wrong one (D), currently reviewing, but I still can't see the difference between them, i've spent about 10mins trying to figure it out. Got -5 in that section, so 180 your -1 is like the holy grail in that section, any tips would be great!calidancer2 wrote:Tiago Splitter wrote:calidancer2 wrote:Haha I wish! Looking good, Chester!
I'll take a look, tonton.
I have a laundry list of excuses for my performance on PT 60, this morning, but I won't make a single one; I won't allow myself to make one on game day, so I'm done hedging my results.
LR1: -5
LR2: -4
LG: -3
RC: -6
LGX: -4
-18 for a 165, my worst one in awhile. It's all good; law schools don't care about my PT average, just my score on the 3rd
We got this!!!

Chester, the parallel question?
stimulus:
a -> b
b -> c
some b are not a
some c are not a
D:
a -> b
b -> c
some b are not a
therefore: some c are not B
E:
a -> b
b -> c
some b are not a
some c are not a
in choice D, the conclusion involves the linking term, B, and not the necessary and sufficient terms in the if/then statements.

180, I think you were spot on about sticking to your habits on test day. It seems to be like not doing so would be the worst mistake you can make on test day. I thought if I pushed a little harder I could get a 180 instead of a 173. Experiment failed. Lesson learned.

If you do the same thing you always do, you'll get the result you always get... or even better, due to the heightened state of arousal!

Re: 10 weeks to a 180
Can anyone help me with PT 64 (Oct 2011) LR 2.26? I got it right but am struggling to understand why 2 incorrect answers are incorrect. Just want some clarification. A and D are the ones i'm struggling with...is it because it says "rational consumers" and the stim talks about consumers BEHAVING rationally, which is slightly different? E links them all up nicely, but I honestly just went with it because it made the most sense/felt "right."

Re: 10 weeks to a 180
One more question, this one I got wrong: on PT 57, LR 1.24, about reading a poem...can anyone help?? After staring at it for a looong time, I think I figured out the way to ninja-mind this one. Conclusion involves "meaning" of a poem and none of the premises do...the only choices that include that are C and E. C seems pretty out of scope now (though this is what I originally chose) because readers agreeing is irrelevant to the argument? E looks pretty good now. I circled E first, then erased it and put C

Re: 10 weeks to a 180
hey cali, concerning the poem question
people sometimes think poems express contradictory ideas
meaning is not necessarily whatever the author intends to communicate
write poem -> not contradictory ideas.
poem -> contradictory ideas
write poem -> not contradictory ideas
meaning -> not intends
The formal logic is pretty messy but by putting it this way, you can see that meaning is the unclarified term, and the assumption must have it in the necessary term or negated in the sufficient term. This leads you to C and E, but like you said, C is pretty out of scope as agreement is not part of the stimulus.
For the record: believing is the other term in need of further clarification. When you talk about the objective meaning on the poem, readers' perception of that meaning must either be uniform or have some objective value. So believing in itself must count for something. As E points out.

PT61 - 168. -14
RC: -4
LR1: -7 (!)
LR2: -2
LG: -1
Overall, pretty stoked considering that I, by my own standards, killed the RC and LR2. Still not considerably better than the 165 I got the other day, but I lost my focus a little bit I guess in the middle of LR1, missed 5 of 7 at one point, and missed a rule changer on LG. If I corrected those slip ups I´d be at my old PT range of 172-174. (Yeah I do know about excuses, I´m just sayin
)
I put a lot of pressue on myself before this one to try to simulate the test day environment a little, so I´m pretty psyched that I did so well.
I got two more new PTs to go, I´m feeling great. Upon a quick review of the questions I missed, I narrowed most of them down to the last two, so I feel like there´s going to be a lot for me to learn in this. Plus, With PT62 and PT64 (and PT63 which I´ve already taken) on the cards, I´m going to get more familiar with the recent LSAT trends.

I'm assuming it's too late to get them shipped but are there PDFs of 62/63/64 on sale yet? And if so, where? I only have up to 61.calexhg88 wrote: I got two more new PTs to go, I´m feeling great. This is huge. From now on, it should feel like test day - in every way imaginable.
It's okay, man, we know the ability is there - the biggest thing is focusing on our techniques and methods. We just need to be consistent.
With excuses, I woke up with a fever, a runny nose, and a sore throat; as I finished the first section, I had to go both #1 and #2 - badly. I squirmed and clenched my fist for over an hour until my break came (if I can't go to the bathroom during the test, I'm not going to go during practice). I ended up sucking on the last two sections because that horrible experience broke me, mentally.
It's all good, we are 6 weeks from congratulating each other on our 175+ scores!

Re: 10 weeks to a 180
Just did a deep review. In all but 3 of the 14 I immediately knew my mistake, and I picked the right answer in all but 1 the 2nd time around (stupid analogy RC questions) I don´t say this because I feel like I should have gotten a 179. I´m saying this because it is clear that we CAN get 180s. One guy dropped in and said he was PT´d at 170 just prior to the test, but then he realized he doesn´t have to miss any questions. He wasn´t gunning extra hard for it, he just wasn´t coming to terms with that answer choice he had picked (even though he knew it was wrong). The biggest lesson I come away with today is that if I stick to my guns, a 180 is easy, and ultimately, the necessary outcome. Don´t deviate from your methods and you won´t missing a single, m*********'n question.180asBreath wrote: It's all good, we are 6 weeks from congratulating each other on our 175+ scores!

Yep, I agree. I realize that the more I go with my gut/intuition on ones I get stumped on instead of "talking myself into" an AC, the better I do. I find this more on LR and RC...I think partially because now that I've been studying for this since June I really "get it" and can predict it, and in the questions I do get wrong it's either because I didn't read the stem right, or get it down to two and instead of going with my gut, talk myself into the wrong AC.
In other news, really dissected the dinosaur game today and feel pretty good about it. Gonna do some timed LR today, and then taking another PT tomorrow morning and taking Thanksgiving off

Hey all, if a couple of you would be in, I'd love to create a free chat room for us to all meet - for a bit. I created this chat room: --LinkRemoved--
If anyone wants to talk about our prep for the last week and a half, come on in; I wish TLS had some chat functionality, but - alas - it does not.
I'm kind of on that precipice; I feel like I am one right decision away (in terms of creating a good final study plan) from reaching my potential - but I need to talk about things with people who can relate. As great as my tutor is, she isn't entrenched in LSAT prep - the way we are - so it's hard for us to fully connect.
I'd love to chat about our final plans. I think I may watch the debate, but feel free to express interest - and we can arrange a time.
To all of the lurkers, feel free to come in or chime in on the thread!

Not to rain on your confidence or anything, but I'm pretty sure anyone scoring 165+ will miss almost zero immediately upon review.
