Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
if only lsat hadn't made rc more difficult since the old pt days. i get -0/-3 on old rc but the new rc just destroyed me.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:I might print up the newer ones (70+) and study them a bit. It would be nice to kinda look at them not under timed scenarios. I've noticed something somilar though, they're much more nuanced.gamerish wrote:I find that I'm very good at the older RC but am performing poorly in comparison on the newer ones. While I don't find the passages themselves to be any easier or more difficult, the questions seem to hinge on much, much narrower criteria than the old ones. For example, more than once on a newer RC the difference between a right and wrong answer has been a single letter ("form" in the passage vs "forms" in the answer choice) and inference questions, especially continuations of the passage, seem to be more common (which I generally find to be the most difficult RC question type).Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:I just wish I was magically better at RC :/. I just haven't gotten that down yet. Since this (hopefully) is my last it's a bummer.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
so i had a similar experience. i had little over 3 min for the last passage so i never really could read it. i found that the 3rd passage though easy to read, had trick inference questions and hypothetical questions about what if true would strengthen one view and weaken other. it had a slightly implicit assumption in the passage that i think i missed initially, so took longer on at least 2 of its questions both of which i couldn't find a good answer choice for and got wrong. i had taken this test for real last june, never discussed or thought about it so i could take it again as a fresh test.gamerish wrote:I'm still blind reviewing it but I know the bulk of my wrong answers (if my estimation is correct, at least 4 of the 7 I missed) came from the last passage because I just ran out of time and put B for all but one of them. I got the five minute warning as I was doing the second to last question on the third passage so I was very, very behind.appind wrote: this was a tough pt. where did you miss in rc?

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Guys I am in such a muck
I have been just too nervous and/or overthinking, and my scores have dropped from a consistent high-170s to a consistent low-170s. So I've just been reviewing old tests in hopes of getting my mojo back. And also I've been looking at various master's programs and alternative career paths I could possibly pursue if I feel like it, to try and get my nerves down.

I'm having the same problems, it really sucks. I thought I was actually getting good at this stuff and then it all came crashing down.
Make sure to take some breaks and do non LSAT things. Take the pressure off a bit. It'll be ok.
Been doing one six-section test per day for the past week and completely baffled to find myself stuck on the low 170s, slightly relieved to see that I'm not alone in this.
I guess confidence plays a part as well, the pressure from the approaching test day makes it more likely for us to be self-doubting all the time.

For anyone who has already done this, how long does it take for stores to make the picture?

I went to Walmart (here in Canada) and they do it on the spot - they charged $20 though which was definitely too muchltowns1 wrote:gamerish wrote:That reminds me that I have to go get my picture taken. Probably tomorrow after I PT.

On a side note, just finally found out which room my test is in and it has real tables!! I've just been praying it wasn't one with those tiny desks large enough for three quarters of an 8.5 x 11" paper
