Any advice for how to make yourself known to admissions? I'm planning to go visit at some point. UVA is my #1. My GPA is .02 below their median, so I don't THINK I would end up YP, but I'm also pretty ignorant about the process.it's allgood wrote:

I always have a fun day with my run club on the 4th. Our party is from 3-7MDT so the phone will be with me to keep an eye out just in case. Not sure I like the idea of getting my score while at the party. On the other hand, I'll take that over waiting another day. Or two.

See I don't understand this. Not saying anyone should do this but what if you had only applied to UVA? Just because you had stats to get into a barely higher-ranked school doesn't mean UVA isn't your #1chargers21 wrote:Yepp, UVA is notorious for yield protecting. Let the Grey watch begin. I'm going to call it quits just after 5, if it does happen today I think it will be during the earlier 4-5 slot vs. after 6.

The first thing you can do is go for a tour--there are often times possibilities to meet with admissions staff then; another way is at law school fairs. Another way is to work your contacts and connections and see if anyone can arrange a meeting with the dean or an assistant dean.Ntp73821 wrote:Any advice for how to make yourself known to admissions? You may want to consider early decision there. But you most likely will wind up paying sticker. You will be able to gauge better when you have your LSAT.Ntp73821 wrote:Any advice for how to make yourself known to admissions? I'm planning to go visit at some point. UVA is my #1. What you're saying is so true. If you're waitlisted, at least you can inform them that you are really serious about attending, but if they flat out reject, there's no recourse.

Re: June 2017 Waiters Thread- Dowsing for gray
UVA has an early decision where they are able to get a lot of students above their median for LSAT and then do not need to risk taking students with higher LSATs who may not matriculate and could mess up their yield. Most people with a 170 or higher get in early decision at UVA BUT there is no incentive to give high merit scholarships because the students are committed to attend.Walliums wrote:See I don't understand this. Ugh, yeah, my GPA got really screwed by going to a school that has A- but not A+.it's allgood wrote:

I doubt I'd go for sticker, I don't think it's worth it. So I wouldn't ED. I'm sure there are plenty of decent law schools where I can get SOME money with a 3.84 and a good LSAT (pls LSAT gods give me a good LSAT score). But I'm going to apply regardless and hope for some money.

If you are really committed, then you should apply early decision at UVA--UVA has enough students each cycle that have high stats and apply this way. Saying you are committed really does not mean anything if not applying early decision. The risk is not getting merit aid.mishpt1 wrote:Walliums wrote:See I don't understand this. UVA is probably my top choice and I am also just below median GPA, but the risk of not getting $$$ isn't worth applying ED. I'd be perfectly happy going to Duke or Cornell with some $$$ (and per lsn they seem to be more generous than UVA) and really wouldn't consider paying sticker outside HYS.it's allgood wrote:If you are really committed, then you should apply early decision at UVA--UVA has enough students each cycle that have high stats and apply this way. Does anyone know what time the icons went grey when the results were released on 1/1?

Seeing that many felt awesome right after the test, did anyone else feel they had done terribly? I was on the verge of cancelling my score for 5 days.

Honestly, I can't think of any scenario worth cancelling. If your scores were 167, 158, 176, who is really gonna look at that middle score as indicative of anything. As long as a reasonable explanation accompanies it, then no big deal.lynn.wibi wrote:Seeing that many felt awesome right after the test, did anyone else feel they had done terribly? Re: June 2017 Waiters Thread- Dowsing for gray
I knew I did not do well on the Feb LSAT but decided not to cancel and am really glad I kept the score because I wound up getting wait listed at my first choice school and then was able to improve my skills to take the June LSAT.saf18hornet wrote:Honestly, I can't think of any scenario worth cancelling. I kind of did. Felt fine after the test, but then spent the next few days convincing myself that I had misbubbled half a section and nearly canceled. Didn't get much done at work that week.lynn.wibi wrote:Seeing that many felt awesome right after the test, did anyone else feel they had done terribly?
