Like when I first start drilling a question type, I see a solid increase in my PT scores. But once I start getting to the level 2/3 in the Cambridge packets I notice that my PT scores go down. I was wondering if anyone else noticed the same. I usually drill on my days where I'm not PTing.
173 on PT 71. Honestly kinda thought I did better, -5 in LR and -5 in RC is hard to swallow, my LR should be better.
I see diminishing returns after a certain amount of questions, but drilling has never negatively affected my PTs. Maybe you're over thinking the question type?
Also, I took 71 today and received one of my worst recent LR scores in section 3, which wasn't a big deal. But I almost ran out of time which never happens. I had to go with my gut instinct on the final three. So I feel you about that LR.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I was PTing at around 165 and was hoping to get maybe 167/8 on test day.
Most of my PTs were on tests 40-55. Just took PT 70 and got a fucking 160! I honestly thought the LR was much trickier and longer than older tests, also much more erratic in difficulty.
Going to BR but still...im devastated.
Im going to take 2 or 3 more PTs in the next week and if this happens again I guess Ill have to re-schedule for December....

I think you're tired and maybe missing a little bit of confidence.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote:Yeah maybe it's the amount of questions.
I think that as I get used to doing harder questions, I start looking for different things which makes it harder to get through the easy questions.
-5 on LR is actually an improvement. It's just such a bummer because I was scoring so well, and now I'm bouncing between the high 160s and 173/4 :/.
Probably just tired. Or just not as good as I think.
I will say though, that I took PTC yesterday, and 71 today. Same -14 curve, and I thought PT C was wayyyyy harder.

The first two PT's are PT 62 and 63...lame. But the 3rd one is an undated PT. it has a comparative RC so somewhat new.gamerish wrote:What are the exam dates?nlee10 wrote:Anyone take the newly released super prep?

I thought this section was fairly easy, perhaps the easiest section of the test. Didn't think the games were nearly as hard as say PT 72 or even PT 75 (which I took).
LR:
Feels like a more modern test given that I felt a bit unsure of my answers and the difficulty of questions were very spread out. A few before Question 10, for example, were some of the hardest of the section(s).
RC:
RC is my worst section so I can't really precisely gauge it. I think one of the passages was sort of dense.
BRing tomorrow so I don't know my actual score/breakdown.
This is my OWN speculation but I think this PT might fit in somewhere in the 60's. The curve was super small at -9....

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Yeah I agree. I've been drilling the LR Most Difficult Packet so I think that's been helping me as I'm consistently getting -3 to -5 per LR section which is a huge improvement from long time ago.Mint-Berry_Crunch wrote: Cool thanks. I wanna get my hands on this but it seems like I would have to spend more than I want. -9 curve is rough. It does sound like the modern ones a bit with the LR. I've noticed some of the newer ones will have a pretty hard question before Q10 (something that you have to read a couple times). I think they're just trying to throw off people's timing.
This is my final retake and was essentially my only fresh test so I had to get it.

Yeah, I started doing this a few months into my prep. I'm not scoring near perfect, but the ones I miss are the ones I get stuck on and have to sit there and stare at.appind wrote:anyone scoring near perfect in LR who doesn't read all choices for some questions and moves on once sees the right one?
i find myself doing this for 5-8 qs per section.
