Oh man! Am I glad I took a nap after the 1st half of PT58 then! I'll try PT58 Part II (Son of PT58) tomorrow after I feel better. How did you do on the RC and LR1, Ginj?Ginj wrote:PT58 is the one that owned me on LR2. I'm still sick from yesterday, so I guess my 10 min break has turned into a day break. I came home from the library to sleep. I'll do the other half of PT58 tomorrow. The 1st LR also was NOT easy or maybe my sick mind was not focused enough.
How much did you guys get on PT58?

Re: June 2011 Study Group
Well there goes my consistency. I just got dominated by pt 55. 167.
I'm feeling some burnout but I need to power through it and come back tomorrow with a vengeance.
Good news is that my composite of pt 16 was a 178! Hopefully we get a curve like that on June 6.

On break from PT59. LR pacing still needs work. I get the first 15 in 15 mins alright, but I always blow it between 15-20. How I end up with 5-6 mins for the last 5 Qs time and time again is really starting to bug me.

I don't think there's any connection between PT# and hard/easy anymore. i thought PT55 was really easy but you got owned. I'm sure others found PT58 easy and I got owned. I think it's just God playing dice with the universe.iphone7 wrote:Well there goes my consistence. I just got dominated by pt 55. 167.

FWIW, 58 was my actual test (I'm retaking) and RC freaking owned me. I got a 168 with -8 in RC, -1/-2 in LR, and -2 in LG. :\ I haven't retaken it yet (trying to stick to new tests) but yeah...>_<jim-green wrote:On my break between halves of PT58. Just got done taking PT 58. RC raped me. -6, lowest in months! In other news, -3/-3 on LR, -0 on LG. Result: 169.
Sure, i didn't get much sleep and did not take a 15-minute break before doing RC (last section) which caused me to starve in the process. But those are excuses. I have to be able to get at most -3 even when the conditions are not ideal.

Thanks, Eich!...i actually napped yesterday, which is partially why I could not fall asleep last night. The cycle ends today with me exhausting myself in the gym, hopefully.Eichörnchen wrote:Yikes hope everything's OK 99. If you do PT, good luck! To PT or not PT?...that is the question...
Alternatively, I can do drills from PT 35/39 - the two tests I use for experimental sections anyway.

Haha, it was tough for me too, and I did only half of PT58 today. I did find the RC tough like you, except it is S2 not S4 as u say above. I also got a -3 on LR1 (S1), and that's the only sections I did so far.99.9luft wrote:Just got done taking PT 58. RC raped me. -6, lowest in months! In other news, -3/-3 on LR, -0 on LG. Result: 169. good luck, jim. This is a one frustrating PT. I hated that they left the comparative passage for last - i ran out of time and did not absorb it enough, even though it was much easier than others.jim-green wrote:Haha, it was tough for me too, and I did only half of PT58 today. PT59
LG: 0
LR1: -3
LR2: -2
RC: -3
Raw: -8
Scaled: 175
Last 3 PTs (49, 11, 58) I went 0, -1, 0 respectively in RC, but today I would describe RC my performance as "frantic." Terrible time management and pace. One of the Qs I missed tested on an exceptionally evil reference to a minute detail, but in all honesty I usually do a good job catching those. I guess on a positive note, I was able to ace passage 4 in under 5 minutes.
Games shook me with their difficulty. First two were easy, but G3 was very time consuming and I must have missed a key inference to G4 because I ended up using a ton of hypos. Thankfully this came in handy when I had 50 seconds to answer 2 questions, a "could be true" and "must be false," because I just scanned all my hypos to quickly cross of answers.
LR is a crapshoot, I'm just too slow so I have read really fast and sacrifice comprehension sometimes to make it through, so not only do I make mistakes but I can't usually predict where they are. I kind of just close my eyes, sprint through the battlefield, and check my shirt for bullet holes at the end.
Definitely not the ideal experience, but happy that I can get a good score when I feel flustered the whole test.

Re: June 2011 Study Group
just a thought: a few days before the test for those taking it in june- stay off TLS, or if you do TLS only post in established threads in the Lounge. There will be a ton of OMG Im overwhelmed and going to get a 119 on the test- or other freak out threads and posts- that will do nothing for you except try to shake your confidence and routine. Same for right after the test. Know if you are going to keep or cancel before you log back in- and dont let anyone change your mind to cancel the score ( you will have a good feeling by the end of section 5- and can use part of the writing section to make a final determination of the test and your performance on it- if its within your norm or not). Once you make up your mind dont let anyone tell you otherwise.
HTH- YOu all will rock this test in June and have the entire summer to finalize those apps and get into the schools of your dream with a fat scholarship this fall!

IDK if it was LR1 or LR2...I just remember the numbers and being totally shocked at my LR v. RC scores. At the time I totally was under the impression that I was worse at LR...but TBF I was a total slacker when I studied the first time and only did like...10 PTs, most of them pretty old. I was also floored that I got -2 on LG ): It was not a good test for me lol...very disappointing.jim-green wrote:You got a -1 on the 1st LR sec? That's pretty good. I just graded LR1 and got -3. Jim, I missed 2 in LG and a total of -6 in LR. Overall, not that bad. Made some stupid mistakes. But this one...was all about the RC.

Thanks, 99! I'll need it. Thanks Crumpets and Ginj. I'm not feeling better - still woozy but will do the 2nd half of PT58 and see what happens. Only because there's simply not enough days left to goof off. I'll let u guys know how it goes. A bit relieved to hear from you guys that PT58 was tough for everyone after all.99.9luft wrote:good luck, jim. This is a one frustrating PT. guys i am so in my own head for logic games at this point it is really frustrating. i'm so concerned with not making the stupid mistake that i don't focus enough on the game and inevitably forget something and make a careless error. anybody got tips for relaxing about this stuff? i know i'm capable of a -0 on LG but i keep tripping myself up. frustrating to say the least. but good luck to everyone on their pts, i'm going to tackle 58 tomorrow which sounds like a lot of fun according to everybody haha.

Re: June 2011 Study Group
PT55 RC killed me. -4, and only one came from chinese talk-story. I am routinely running out of time on RC, getting very nervous about this.
LG was also horrendous, but I'm going to chalk that up to finishing up that PT at 1:30 am (I'm feeling a little desperate, so little time left!). LG mistakes were all careless -- forgot about a rule, managed to not read a rule in the first place, etc. haha. Wow I really hope I'm not the least bit tired when I take the real thing, because my careless errors exponentially increase. Some days I just wake up groggy (can't figure out why) and stay slightly tired the rest of the day. Maybe I'll temporarily start drinking black coffee?

Don't underestimate the effect a lack of sleep can have on your performance (: <3
Also, RE: relaxing on LG...I think what helps me is to attack it in a very mechanical manner. I don't really think about much of anything when I do LG, I just go through the steps. In some ways I actually look forward to the section because it gives me a much-needed brain rest XD When it comes down to it, it's just "Write down variables. Draw diagram. Plug in rules. Check for inferences." Don't worry too much about making all the right inferences and stuff, even--though it might take slightly longer if you lose one, you will always be able to figure things out by cross-referencing the rules to your hypos. It seems like your internal pressure is what's tripping you up...don't be so hard on yourself! All you need to know for the games is right there on the page.

So there was a time where I had a ton of confidence in this test. I had just made a 176 and was going to bed dreaming of Cambridge. Then I got a 167 yesterday and another 167 today. I'm sure that it's due to burnout and I need to take a couple days off and get back to it. I'm going to minimize my LSAT time over the weekend and hopefully turn it around. This is terrible.

FWIW I know a lot of people who did really well on the test but experienced drops the week before (some even dropped 20+ points from what they ended up scoring on the day of). Don't let it get to you. We're all freaking out a little and sometimes it affects our score...just stay positive! Take some time to relax and enjoy the idea that this'll be over in < 2 weeksiphone7 wrote:So there was a time where I had a ton of confidence in this test. Re: June 2011 Study Group
Ugh I'll join in on the frustration today, I saw my highest raw score ever on a test earlier in the week, and today I took PT 54 and got demolished by the "group think" passage and my LR suffered a little bit too
As I get up into these most recent tests, what's the best advice people have to dealing with the increased difficulty? I have a good grasp on all the concepts and can manage fantastic raw scores on tests even up through the 40s but I seem to get so flustered on these later ones and inevitably one section really trips me up.

Help I'm having serious timing issues that is totally messing up my score im losing a legit 3-4 questions on every section. I'm usually minus 2-4 on the sections before this time issue and it is really starting to get on my nerves I used to think it was just a focus thing and I would turn it around come test day but I dont want to rely on that. any suggestions?

Sounds like a burnout pandemic is starting to go around in this thread. If you find yourself making too many careless errors, being flustered by questions that you normally dominate with fulll confidence or are having other issues that you havent seen- then maybe taking a day off and relaxing will do wonders. YOu all have been doing PTS like crazy for a while- maybe easing off the accelerator this weekend will help you conserve enough fuel to blow through the finish line

Re: June 2011 Study Group
Burn-out is completely real. The day before yesterday, I completely bombed a PT, ten points below the two PTs I'd taken right before that. I think my limit is two PTs, two days in a row before my brain goes foggy. So yesterday I deliberately took the whole day off (no sneaking in a section or a few drills), and I feel much better today. I just have to accept that at this point there is no trying to get through as much material as possible -- more exposure to more material will make me tired rather than any more skilled. So my schedule until test day is this:
Sat (today): PT 57 + exp
Sun: PT 60 + exp
Mon: depends how tired i am, maximum drill 2 RC sections, 2 LG sections spread out over the day
Tue: PT 59 + exp
Wed: PT 62 + exp
Thu: max. drill 2 RC, 2 LG, spread out
Fri: PT 61 + exp
Sat: max. drill 3 RC, 2 LG, spread out
Sun: max. drill 2 RC, 2 LG, spread out
Mon (D-Day): 35 mins warm-up of two games, two passages, ten LR q's.
Sat (today): PT 57 + exp
Sun: PT 60 + exp
Mon: depends how tired i am, maximum drill 2 RC sections, 2 LG sections spread out over the day
Tue: PT 59 + exp
Wed: PT 62 + exp
Thu: max. drill 2 RC, 2 LG, spread out
Fri: PT 61 + exp
Sat: max. drill 3 RC, 2 LG, spread out
Sun: max. drill 2 RC, 2 LG, spread out
Mon (D-Day): 35 mins warm-up of two games, two passages, ten LR q's.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
