Forget both the liberal and conservative groupthinkers. Independents ftw!EnderWiggin wrote:so many opportunities for the liberal groupthinkers to get roastedtheugg wrote:It would be wonderful if this thread devolved into a shitposting half-ass political debate though

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
Long time lurker, first time poster.
Don't want to hijack the thread, and forgive me for reverting back to the topic of the October test. I just want to chip in with a comment about the curve. I saw a significant number of people think it will be a -10, and I disagree.
Between game 3, the comparative RC and a large number of assumption questions a -12 is more likely than a -10.
- PT75 LG it was easy to go -0, once you got the rules on game 4, whereas for october LG a -0 demanded much more.
- The october RC comparative passage had some questions more than 50% of the test takers will drop and I think overall similar in difficulty to PT75.
- The october LR was more challenging than PT75' - there were a few (one in particular) assumption questions which far surpassed any question on PT 75 in difficulty.
My money is on -11, but if you gave me +150 odds I'd take -12.

Re: The Official October Waiter's Oasis
anyone else feel like their confidence comes and goes in waves?
felt pretty good about the overall test for a while, now i'm nervous again about some of the LR.
there was a question in #'s 10-14 that I'm remembering as really boggling now (not elephants or the ones that seem to be the most brought up right now) along with the somewhat discussed book/pleasure one

- "I thought it was funny when he called Kanye West a jackass after he interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech"
- "I voted for FDR and Obama because I based my vote on who had a vegetable garden in the White House backyard"
To draw an analogy, in sports, people will have favorite teams largely based on where they live, even though they might (or might not) agree that another team is objectively better. Some people might not care for sports and choose a favorite team based on stuff like "they have a cute mascot", and defer to a more expert opinion if asked who is the objectively best.
