I had to chime in and say:7ofNine wrote:Well obviously tos wins out...but of the relaunches I like TNG and then voyager.bee wrote: the answer is always tos.
tos>tng>voyager>enterprise>ds9
ds9=tos>tng>voyager . . . . . . . . . . > enterprise
DS9 is either a fan's most loved show, or misunderstood.
I've never heard a well articulated dismissal of the show. I've always heard "it's boring because they're on a station" completely ignoring the fact that the show has a starship, the USS Defiant, that frequently visits other planets.

In all fairness I have not made it through all of DS9 yet. I am in season 5. I actually like DS9...I just like some of the others better as far as overall character development. I really like some ds9 characters and I think some are really weak. I also felt like Enterprise would have been good if it was allowed to continue. Like all Star Trek series it was just hitting its stride around season 3/4 and then it was cancelled.

I thought DS9 had better character development than any of the other shows. Where the characters are at the end is farther removed than when the show began compared to other series.7ofNine wrote:In all fairness I have not made it through all of DS9 yet. I am in season 5. I always saw TOS and TNG as morality plays that reaffirmed what we as a society value.
DS9 was a complex, engaging space opera set against the backdrop of the Star Trek universe.
VOY is a show that angers me because so much of it was right, but I felt they never maximized their potential. When you have powerhouse actors like Mulgrew and Ryan, the writing should have risen to meet them. Instead, it often felt like everyone was firing at a 10 except the creative staff.
ENT -- don't even get me started on their last episode.

ds9 does get the shaft routinely but it's amazing. and has worf!
i think one of the most impressive things about the franchise is that each series is pretty much excellent. it can be dippy and maudlin and waxes ivory tower BS but it almost always makes a thoughtful point.
well, i can't speak for enterprise. i'm afraid to watch it. some people tell me it's underrated, others....ehhhh.

Are most of you guys applying as soon as LSAT scores come out? I was planning on a 1/1/14 submission date. But since scores are coming out 1/2-1/7 im debating if I should just wait at this point.
