Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I just tried to do the LG section on PT 57 and went -9 overall because I ran out of time on the dino game and literally had to guess a ton. Now im literally feeling physically sick.
Have been PTing around 165 lately and wanted to try and get 168 on October but it looks like Im just going to fucking bomb the test. Someone please hug me and tell me its going to be ok...

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
pt-72 felt like a tough one and it could be one of my worst recent pts. that's a nice rc score. how'd you compare the difficulty of this rc with late 60s/70s rc?EnderWiggin wrote:It's a small consolation I know, and all tests are equated to account for slight differences in difficulty, but PT72 is one of the more challenging PTs IMO, and lots of people have trouble with the final game in that one. Don't let one bad one get you down.numb3r4 wrote:I am very irritated with PT 72. Got a 166 and missed 6 in the games! Haven't reviewed it yet but hopefully I can fix this by test day. I did go -3 in RC which was nice.
Edit: Also not sure how I feel about all the LR questions I missed being Flaw, Weaken, Str questions. Time to drill like crazy I suppose - tests can wait a bit!
it'd be interesting to know if people who took this as a fresh timed test, saw a slump in their scores in 72 vs other recent ones.
i thought both RC and LG were much tougher than 71, but 71 had a more generous curve.

just figured that one could take a pt and keep it relatively fresh if one only uses it get the score and doesn't review it at all.

I was doing the same thing, but I kind of don't believe it. Test prep companies aren't new. The skills tested now are the same skills tested five PTs ago. So I'm not worrying.RZ5646 wrote:Avoiding this thread because you're all talking about how much harder the new tests (which I haven't taken) are...
By the way, if anyone else gets fatigued during the test and doesn't drink coffee, I have found it really helpful to put a little peppermint oil on my wrist and just smell it when I am feeling foggy. Probably won't matter on test day since we all will have so much adrenaline, but it is helpful now.

Can you explain what you mean by question by question timed evaluation of BR method?mornincounselor wrote:Just did PT 75.
The first LR was pretty easy overall. For RC the first two passages were easy the third had at least one hard question and the fourth was pretty difficult. The second LR 1-8 was super easy the page from 9-14 was the hardest imo and then, although one question after that point was very difficult, the section got easier. LG was designed to be very time consuming but a few critical inferences made the the first three games manageable and the fourth game I didn't fully understand but I think I did OK.
I have not graded it yet, I'm going to wait and do a full question by question timed evaluation of my method for BR tomorrow.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
I'm not sure if I believe the newer tests are harder. PT 71 was my best test I've ever written.
BUT I do remember getting OWEND on pt 72 or 73 or something way back last year. So this week's pting will be interesting.

Just took PT 70, 171. RC actually felt better this time around but LR just seems different on these newer tests. Im finding that Im having to eliminate answer choices to get to the right answer.

Re: The Official October 2015 Study Group
Anyone else consistently have 100% of their missed RC questions come from a single passage? I usually do well on the rest of the section but miss at least one question on the science passage, sometimes several questions.theugg wrote:I'm getting roasted on the most recent PTs' RC sections. What did they do to make them so tricky?!

some rc passages are just more difficult than others. usually there will be one passage in a tough rc section where most misses are concentrated.
