Is it weird that I want to punch your avatar in the face? Not because of anything you’ve said… I think his expression just annoys me.

If you guys have any questions pertaining to the Israel-Arab conflict or things you think are crazy that you don't fully understand, feel free to bring it up and hopefully I can address any issues at hand.

Legit there is so much more I want to know. Is there one source (maybe a book or article) that I can read that will make me more informed?ampersand5 wrote:If you guys have any questions pertaining to the Israel-Arab conflict or things you think are crazy that you don't fully understand, feel free to bring it up and hopefully I can address any issues at hand.

This only has two (negative) reviews on amazon, and it's older (2000), but I think the history of the colonial era in the ME it tells is really well done and not done elsewhere.

I hope this was a joke. Chomsky is one of the worst possible people to read on this subject. He reeks of bias, a nefarious attitude and inaccuracies. I mean, maybe if you want to tow the Chomsky line on everything else (do you hate America?), then sure, read Chomsky; but I doubt thats the case for you or anybody else who is reading this thread.crede wrote:http://www.chomsky.info/books/dissent01.htmbernaldiaz wrote:Legit there is so much more I want to know. What you asked is a difficult question to respond to because yes, there probably is a good book that addresses everything in an objective easy to read manner, but nobody will agree on what that is. I can suggest what I think are good books on the topic but no authoritative source.

I don't know anything about the second one, but the first is a big no-no if you are someone who follows and deals with the conflict.pancakelover wrote:The Israel Lobby - Mearsheimer and Waltbernaldiaz wrote:Legit there is so much more I want to know. I think I caught an episode at the hotel when I was in London last year. This and Geordie Shore.

Troll_444 is confused as to why everyone on here is posting information that is completely off topic. Can everyone please focus on the topic of this thread? Thanks.

I like the part where Chomsky confidently states that the USA and Israel are against a 2-state solution...ampersand5 wrote:I hope this was a joke. The Israel Lobby - Mearsheimer and Walt
A History of the Modern Middle East - Cleveland and Bunton

I don't know anything about the second one, but the first is a big no-no if you are someone who follows and deals with the conflict.
Is it a no-no because you disagree with it?
No. The book does a poor job of conveying anything. It is completely onesided, shows very poor scholarship and distorts history. I don't want to make any assumptions about how much you follow Walt and Mersheimer, but go read their interviews and articles outside the book and see how they write, I think you would be shocked. It is almost on par with Normal Finklestein hogwash.
There are many authors/books who I disagree with or happen to not like what they write, but I won't say anything bad about them or their work. There is a big difference between a guy like Benny Morris (who I would recommend even though I disagree with much of his work) and the others mentioned.
