Re: February 2014 LSAT Study Group
Hey everyone
Taking the February LSAT too. I have taken the LSAT twice: once in June '13 and I got a 160 and the other in October '13 with a 169. I really want to break the 170s to make myself more competitive for scholarships, especially to make up for a 3.3 GPA.
Does anyone have any suggestions on resources that worked well for them? I've been self-studying for the last two tests.
Appreciate it!

Hey everyone checking in. Considering retaking the Feb LSAT took Oct 2012 and 2013 improved from 140s to 157 and have all my apps out. Trying to get to a 165 to really be competitive at some great schools being a URM. Tough getting back into this LSAT again though felt like I did all I could last time around... Anyone have any advice on how to really get into the mid 160s. I have the LSAT trainer and cambridge games packets and used every exam possible. Btw Im terrible at games I get like 14 correct just cant get the hang of them consistently so it starts there

I used to be terrible at games too! But I literally studied and repeated the exercises at least 100 times (no joke) and it eventually became second nature. It's honestly the most learnable section, in my opinion, you just have to dedicate the time and be patient...you will get better! I went from missing around 12-13 to only missing 2-3.cloy26 wrote:keep doing all the games over and over. Repetition is key in LG.W$RKliveWELL wrote:Hey everyone checking in. thanks cloy26 & carmensandiego
Question though with the repetition for the games how did u go about it did you just do every game in every cambridge packet then repeat them all over again? Also I'm using the older packets im guessing their exams 1-40.

Re: February 2014 LSAT Study Group
No problem! Honestly, some people may disagree with me on this one, but Kaplan really helped me. Their book broke down the ways to diagram each type of prompt and they gave me numerous examples to work on. But I used some of the older disclosed LSATS from previous years too and just did them numerous times. I'd say you should learn the different types of prompts, the way to diagram them effectively, and then repeat until you start to learn them by heart. This process took me probably 3-4 weeks of studying around 15-25 hours a week after work.W$RKliveWELL wrote:thanks cloy26 & carmensandiego

thanks again carmensandiego. I've tried PR and manhattan not Kaplan. And I would say I do know how to identify game types but once Im doing them under timed conditions its like I lose it and forget everything lol. its really going to come down to more practice which is what i'll do. thanks again for the advice.

Has anyone done PT 10 or just the logic games of PT 10? Game 3 was super weird; it was actually pretty fun. Are there any other weird games like this?

Ya, I'm one of those. Sorry but, out of all the great stuff for LG out there, I would never recommend Kaplan to anyone.carmensandiego wrote:No problem! Out of curiosity- what's your reasoning behind that? What is it that Kaplan does in LG that concerns you?

Hey to each their own, it helped me from missing 10-13 to missing barely 2-3 per section. That being said I've heard great things about 7sage. Also everyone learns things differently, do your research. What worked me for me may not work for you or the next person.dasani13 wrote:Ya, I'm one of those. Re: February 2014 LSAT Study Group
Earlier this week I printed out all Cambridge LR by type - I'm doing 40 questions (of the same type) a day, along with 2 RC passages and 3 LG. next week I start 2 PTs a week, one Saturday morning and another Tuesday Morning, looking forward to trying blind review as some were mentioning earlier in the thread.

7sage would get you to -0.

I haven't used the Trainer at all, although I probably should as I have heard that it's RC section is phenomenal. I've only used Manhattan LR, RC, and LGB.dasani13 wrote:Are you touching The Trainer at all? Or have you already done it?MTH2 wrote:Re-started my prep today for the retake in February. Anywhere from 155-175. I had to guess on about 8 questions total. It was all time related though, so I'm just trying to bust out more preptests and drill before I retake.Miracle wrote:Welcome…I'm in the same position. Re: February 2014 LSAT Study Group
Right now I'm drilling LG like crazy, and I think I'm going to start doing 2-3 PTs/week at one month out (if not more). I might also start PTs earlier if I get comfortable with my LG performance sooner. I've only taken four PTs ever, but my scores were 171-179 (the 179 was a crazy curve; I still got -5).scandk wrote:Oh man. We're ~7 weeks out. What do your crunch-time schedules look like? Anyone in a similar place and want to be study buddies? PM please, I need motivation

+1.
In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you are taking any LSAT (but especially the test this coming February), do not allow another day to pass without at least checking out 7sage.
7Sage has been beyond helpful in my pursuit of my target score. While the classes which they charge for are absolutely worth every penny, for many of us here on TLS who are scoring in the mid 160's or better to begin with and are shooting for mid 170's, the free aspects are probably gold enough.
The Logic Games have already been mentioned; 7Sage has KILLER video guides for every logic game released (they truly are the best), and the best part is that, while the for pay courses offer step-by-step instructions on their methods, if you are good at learning by example, just watching the videos can basically teach you the 7sage method -- which is by far the best, most-intuitive LG method in existence.
My LG are on solid lockdown now, but I'm still on 7sage every day, for this reason (which is, in my opinion, the real diamond that 7sage offers): Once you make a free account, you can use their preptest grader and tracker, which allows you to:
1. Score all of your preptests and keep a record of them
2. Visually represents them, and tracks your individual performance in each section, giving you everything from minumums and maximums to means.
3. Shows you exactly what percentage OF EACH QUESTION TYPE you are missing (this is the diamond: if you're in the high 160's/low 170's, it's probably because there are a few question TYPES that are throwing you off your game -- and, chances are, if you're in this range, it's probably LR that's kicking your ass, so this is even more helpful for its' specificity).
I don't work for 7sage or have any ties to them beyond as a user of their site and advocate of their methods. Seriously, regardless of what methods you're using, check the site out. It's tops.
Also: I'm in. February 2014 FTW.

Re: February 2014 LSAT Study Group
Just scored 162 on PT 58, went -6 LR1, -4 RC, -5 LG, and -7 LR2. I'm having trouble with In Out Grouping games, which seems to reflect a bigger problem of misunderstanding and misinterpreting conditional logic.
anyone interested in taking PT's and conducting group review sessions?
