LG drills x 2 sections last night. -4 and -1. That -4 is actually kind of good because I completely effed away one of the rules on one of the games. It was the game about 3 corsages with roses, orchids, gardenias, and violets. There's a big difference between 2 containing at LEAST one R (the actual rule) and 2 containing EXACTLY one R (how I decided to interpret that rule). Missed 3 of the 4 on that game alone.

I do think I'm really starting to come around on LG. I've been doing 2 section drills every night and reviewing all mistakes. Tonight I'm doing a full PT. Either retake 64 or 52 for the first time. Haven't decided which. I'm doing full PTs every Wednesday and Sunday and I'm concerned about running out of new tests before test day.

You don't want to take old tests? I assume that's what you're drilling with since you did the corsages game, but still there is a whole bunch of material down in there. That being said I need to get into the modern tests soon to avoid not using all of my materials before test day.

Awesome! Not really going to take this as a regular PT. I don't think I am at this score level yet but what a confidence booster!

The language in this test was a lot clearer than regular PTs which made LR and RC easier. Plus the RC topics were more interesting and thus easier to pay arrention.

Well on to SP B Thursday and I will do C Friday

Ah, corsages. PT 9 if I remember correctly. I think I botched it the first time too. Oh well, that's how we learn.

Checking back in!

After about ~45 hrs. in two and a half weeks, I took my first full length PT last night since the summer. I took Prep Test 12 and got

LR1 --- -1
LG --- -3
RC --- -1
LR --- -2

Raw Score: 94/101 for a 172

I'm not putting much stock in this game since it's from the early 90's, but I'm glad that I'm not as far off base as I feared.

I feel as though i'm starting to see a pattern in the LR questions I miss, so I'm hoping to clean up my mistakes a little bit. If none of the answers seem strong at first and none in particular jumps out at me, I've started considering why each one might be wrong and figure out which one I can't prove incorrect. I've jumped before at questions that are worded in a correct way at the beginning and match my pre-formed answer, but the second half is questionable. Taking the time to slow down and consider all the options is really helping.

For LG I'm realizing I need to just pay attention to all the rules and chug through it, but carefully.

For RC, however, I'm trying to get a feel for my weaknesses because it's harder to recognize patterns. Does anyone have any tips for staying engaged on the longer passages? I feel like I can autopilot a bit through LR and LG, but RC is cutting a little close on time because I lose focus and have to re-read a paragraph. These art history and biological science passages are so dry that the phone-book looks like Vonnegut by comparison. Anyone have any tricks to stay engaged on that shit?

Yep, I realized I was a nerd (as if it wasn't already glaringly obvious) when I came across a passage in a PT that I had read before I ever started LSAT prep, for fun. Lamarckian evolution FTW. But the passages about indigenous feminist poets and whatnot sometimes make me lose my will to live and I don't know that there's anything one can do about it.

PT 52 tonight. It was crushed. ONE SEVENTY-FREAKIN' FOUR.

And you know what pissed me off? I got -0 on RC, which had an item removed from scoring, so I counted it as 27 correct until I realized it was actually only 26 due to that asterix. And OF COURSE, I had already calculated my score. And OF COURSE the one point drop in raw score equated to a two point drop in scale score. Still, there was about 5 to 10 minutes of sheer unbridled bliss during which I honestly thought I had scored a 176.

In any case, here's the breakdown:

LR1:-2
LG: -2
LR2: -2
RC: -0

Raw 93
Scale 174.

Still doing 8-10 RC passages a day for the last week. I am going to keep doing RC by itself until I finish the entire Cambridge RC pack from pt's 21-40. I am starting to just feel soooo much more comfortable going through with an actual strategy of what to look for and not literally trying to remember every single detail and the content of the entire passage. Lets keep this thread active, I'm gonna be posting a lot in here just because it helps me to stay engaged and for the support!

I am the exact opposite. I keep writing down all the history, gender and art topics I want to do further readings on. The science ones make me grit my teeth and suffer through. I also had big nerd moments when I recognized the articles on Frida and another on Lichtenstein. Do you find it hard to concentrate with fimiliar topics? I kept thinking of my own responces to the material and let my mind wander from the fact I was taking a timed test.

I can already feel myself allowing that 174 to "go to my head." I haven't reviewed my wrong answers yet, but I know I got a few right where I wasn't 100% sure, so it's very possible that it's only due to a few lucky guesses. I'd also seen the LG before, though not for a while, and I've done a bazillion other games in between.

I'm on the same page. This is my second run at it, and between that and working 9-5, I am drained. I'm enjoying the Velocity LSAT methods, it's just my focus and motivation that's dipping. I just want to sit in my basement, play Skyrim and watch Mad Men, but must push on

I have read n the past that the Super Prep are slightly harder than average particurally in regards to LG. Thanks to my high score on SP A I thought that people most have been over stating. Then today I took SP B and holy eff do I understand where people are coming from now.

LR1 -4 (so stupid. I changed two right answers to a wrong ones in the last min)
LG: -5 ( have not done this bad since my diagnostic)
RC: -4
LR2: -1

Raw: 87
Scaled: 171 (-15 curve...thank god)

So LR was really the same. The first one was just lower than usual because of a dumb mistake and RC is about avg for me but holy damn that LG was rough.

Usually I breeze right by on LG and have at least four min left to check my work but this time I didnt finish and had to guess on some which I of course missed.

What the eff was up with those games. Especially game two. I mean just to demonstrate two of the rules were stated:

If not then either but not both
If not both then both

Game three and four where pretty awful too.

i feel like these games really demonstrate the marked differance of a testmaker wanting a testtaker to really think and work for it and a testmaker wanting to be a dick.

Hi Jim! I wouldn't worry about it. I heard that the Ace book is all fake games, so they don't exactly follow the format of LSAC completely and are known to be a bit more confusing.

I knowwwww. It's getting so rough. After I decided to sit out this cycle to travel for a year, I sat in my apartment and watched 5 seasons of West Wing.

You'd think that would get it outta my system. Lately I'm just itching to be done. I want to start planning my travels and I want to be lazy. I'll be doing LG and then a sneaky voice will whisper "Europe? Maybe that's too easy...Asia would be an adventure. Google Vietnam. DO IT!" I need to get my groove back. Sprint to the finishhhh!!!!!!

Haha, I sit at work all day just waiting to leave so I can practice the LSAT. My job is such mental drudgery that I find it refreshing to do LSATs after work. That being said, I think I am going to take a well-deserved day off today.

I just decided last night to re-take again in February (161 in October after a -10 on the first LR section). Have any of you done the velocity lsat program? I have the LR and LG bible's but I think I could use some structure in my studying. Any thoughts you have on velocity are greatly appreciated and best of luck to everyone in February.

Bought the $10 nook yesterday and im about half way through it now. It already seems like its much better than the PowerScore book
