Just took PT 58 as well, and...BROKE INTO THE 170s FOR THE FIRST TIME!!

I'm not sure if it's because this one had an exceptionally easy games section or what (felt that way), but dammit I don't really care.

Take my first and 3rd sections, your 2nd and 4th, and we have us a pretty good score

Congrats hitting 170 for the first time though, it is a huge step especially for your confidence. It can be easy to think that it is an insurmountable barrier until you hit it, but once you do, you should strive to stay there!

With a little over a week left until the test, I have started to seriously reassess my law school plans. I have not been able to meet my LSAT goals after months of studying. It fracking sucks, but it's time to plan realistically.

Hell yes. I think I might have even gone higher, but I was very distracted during RC and just wanted to get it over with. It felt very very good to score so high on recent tests too. My plan is to take 58-60 (and maybe a 40-something) by the end of this weekend and spend all of next week just drilling games and practicing on my weak spots. I'm taking PT60 on Saturday morning to "simulate test situations." I need to get on a better sleep schedule too.

Got a 175 today! I recently tweaked my RC strategy and it has definitely helped. A lot of people don't recommend the RC Bible but it is very useful imo; I agree that it is not worth the 60 bucks but I skimmed it at Borders in one sitting and it has helped me push toward those last 2-3 crucial points.

I think my LG drilling is paying off. I can usually finish the first game in 4-5 minutes, and spend at most 9 minutes on the others. Gives me a couple of minutes to spare in the end.

I'm on a re-take, so I'm taking it easier this time around. Plus, I only have 2 PTs left anyway.

Gonna finish my Cambridge LG by Type book, doing about 6-8 games a day. Gonna go over every LG from PTs 52-59. Gonna do a few LRs and RCs (outside of my PTs) to stay sharp.

During the last week before the LSAT, I wouldn't do more than 3 PTs. I think 2 is ideal, with consistent drilling on your weakest section.

You're fine, don't worry about it. You have an internal clock -- stick to it and refer to your watch every 2 pages / passage / game.

Just curious as to how many people are drilling PTs they've previously worked on. I'm getting perfect/near-perfect scores on some sections, but that's because the correct answers are still somewhere in the recesses of my memory. Not very indicative of how well I'm going to do on a brand new exam, unfortunately.

On an aside - I bought a book from Borders and realized after I was partway through the first test that someone had bought it before me, made very light marks in it and returned it. Couldn't really take it back after *I* had written in it, but at the same time it totally threw me off, b/c I would second guess myself based on the other person's answers (even though I eventually realized they were generally wrong, and finally was smart enough to go through and look for the stupid marks before taking a PT and erase 'em...)

edit: I'm not re-doing any tests...of course I haven't *done* all the tests. I tend to instead focus on which problems I got wrong and more importantly WHY I got them wrong so I can identify my weakest areas and drill those.

I ran out of time on LG and missed 3 on the last game. Totally inexplicable, and had I -0'd that as I wanted, this is a 180 test. However, THRILLED with the result. I -0'd Noguchi, and -2ing overall on RC is better than my average and I would be so happy with that on Dec. 11. I am feeling extremely confident with LR thanks to the prep class and corresponding homework, and it clearly paid off on this one.

Next up is PT 60, which I got a 168 on 2 days before October and didn't bother to review because I was too pissed off, meaning it is still a fresh PT for me. I really hope I can keep it up, I feel soooo much better about this test than October's despite only really prepping for 3-4 weeks for this one.

And I can't take PT 61 and consider it valid at all I was too involved with debating the tough LRs on here and I almost assuredly remember all of their answers. Oh well...

It's not the general timing, it's the timing of the last few minutes of the test, where seconds count, and I need to know if I've got time to change an answer, or if i've got 2 or 3 or 2.5 minutes left to finish another 4 questions in RC. With the analog watch I can only tell the time left with a +/- 1 or 2 minutes accuracy.

I'm more surprised that LSAT blog has PrepTest 36 (December 2001), Game 3 - Window and aisle seats on a bus (Advanced Linear) on the list of top 10 hardest games... it took me 7 minutes to do this game.. I had a harder time with Game 1, deciding which fruits can be part of the fruit stand =\ Grouping games suck hard man.

Also the fucking UPS guy had to blow my doorbell for a good minute and a half before I decided to pause my timer, run down stairs, sign for the package and get my copy of October 2010 LSAT... I was mad at the time until I realized what I had just received! Also my score could only have been better given that I spent a minute wondering, should I answer or keep or working? stop timer or keep going?


Either way, I NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO SAVE TIME ON THESE DAMN GROUPING GAMES!!!!!!!! /rant off

I'm basically in your position. I'm taking 'new' practice tests but I took a prep course that bundles everything into specific question types so on almost every practice test, I see a question that I remember doing in class/for homework. When it is just a familiar question, I don't trip out about biasing my result because I still have to do go through the logical thought process. But sometimes, if its a question that we discussed in class for like 30 minutes, I usually know the answer without even thinking about it and that definitely does bias your score cause not only are you getting 1 more question right, you have 1-3 minutes of your time to better consider other questions on the test. I wouldn't trip out too hard about it though...The scores you are getting on practice tests right now mean literally nothing. It's what happens on game day that you should concern yourself with. On an another note, I JUST got my copy for October 2010, if you didn't already take October, I recommend hitting up cambridgelsat and buying it online in text format(it might be too late to order + deliver). And also, I might consider taking a few minutes off of your timer when practice testing because if you are indeed remember questions, you are going to trick yourself into thinking that you are finishing well ahead of time and on the actual test day, you might see a whole plethora of new questions you aren't familiar with then freak out and panick when you are 15 questions in at the same rate you were practice testing 19 questions in. Just my .02.

I've been working on PTs that I hadn't seen before (Superpreps and PTs 39-43). I tried drilling the PT 50s but I found that my memory was too good to make them true challenges.

However, you can still make doing them worthwhile as long as you give yourself handicaps. Perhaps cut about 5-7 minutes off the time limit and don't settle for anything more than -0 or -1.

I find that LG are easier to forget than LR or RC, since they're more abstract.
